[Q] is there ANY way to connect to wifi without phone? - Moto 360

Hi
Doesn't the fact, that you have to use your phone, to connect to a wifi, so you can use the watch without a phone defeats the whole purpose? I know, you should just add your work, home and so on.
But as yesterday, I was at a friend, forgot my phone at home and I thought "Oh nevermind. Let's test how the wifi sync works". I found the wifi, tried to connect and asked me to enter the password on the phone, which kinds of annoys me.
Is there any app or anything like that to add a keyboard on screen to enter it there?
Thanks in advance

You need more than a keyboard, right now there is no way to enter the password on the watch.
I was able to connect to a hotel's unsecured wifi for the first time through the watch with no problem, but Motorola say that only works if the browser doesn't redirect you to a wifi login page...

Mac Address and Phone off

Hi
I have just got a MDA III from T- Mobile. I have been having a play and I have 2 questions and the manual is as helpful as a kick in the face
1) how do you turn the phone off? Or if I don’t want to be disturbed can I turn just the phone off and leave the PDA running? I have worked out if you press power button twice it puts it in stand by. The only think I can see is if I tab and hold the single strength I can turn on and off flight mode, if on then call go to my voice mail. But I don’t know what flight mode is?
2) Today I have spent most of the day trying to get the wifi working. I have a netgear router that if I have the WEP Encryption enabled I can’t get it to work (either 64 or 128) So I was thinking that if I turn off the WEP Encryption and put an entry in the Wireless Access Filter I could allow it access that way, but I need to know the MAC of the MDA III and it’s name (eg computer name)
Any help would be great

Flight Mose id a facility that switches off the radio part of phone so no calls can be recived or originated, as required by the airlines. This allows you to use the pda but switches off the phone.
I cant answer your wi-fi query, sorry.
Hi!
I am also trying to find the MAC address of the XDA2s, it doesn't seem to appear anywhere - also we use our work wireless network for access the files AND dchp onto the internet, whereas the wireless setup only allows the option for one or the other?
Its a very complex, cluttered setup isn't it!?
Sorry, above guest is me...
hi,
a little slow reply, you probably already found your answer.. otherwise, here's a link to the answer in another thread:

Mac address
Most wireless routers like my netgear dg834g will tell you what wireless devices are in range of the router including the MAC address if each device.
In addition to sans link, be sure your router is broadcasting in both "b" and "g" mode. I had set mine to 'g' to keep the neihborhood rif-raf away and found the Blue Angel is a "b" device. It works great with WPA and I use MAC filtering.

oh whoops i didnt state my problem.
i do not know where to be able to enter in this information to be able to access the internet.
certificates?
other things?
im not sure.
how do i enter in for certificate?
well, what do you have to do if you were to connect to your school's wifi with a laptop?
At my university, once you connect to the wifi and try to access a page it re-directs you to a page where you must login with your school assigned username and password. Once logged in I can surf just fine. I only use it in lecture halls that have no reception.

Your school's proxy likely authenticates through Active Directory - which isn't, as far as I know, used in Windows Mobile (at least in any practical fashion). In an enterprise wireless environment, even a laptop may have to be plugged in via CAT5 cable first to obtain the proper certificate (something that isn't quite compatible with a mobile phone) - after that, it can authenticate on the wireless network. For this reason, some enterprise wireless networks offer a guest account with limited, more controlled acccess to the school's local network but it may, at the very least, give you access to the internet.
Sorry this isn't of much help, but it at least clarifies why you may not be able to access the internet. I did see this same question come up on the Experts Exchange website but they charge you to see the answer.
okay so i tried to connect to the wireless network on my laptop. it "connects" fine and dandy. What I mean is that the "connected" icon shows up. But the message that prompts me to enter in my username and password pops up after i open my web browser (firefox/chrome etc)
on my friends iphone. same thing. the popup shows up after you open up safari mobile.
is there really no way around this?
Are you using Opera or IE?
Opera in turbo mode will not let you authenticate.

[Q] Can't connect to WiFi after rooted?

Hey guys, I rooted my phone about a month ago, and wifi was working for me at my work but our Internet has been acting up, (we have at&t) so I thought it was just because of that. When I connect to the WiFi that is not password protected, I get redirected to a Web page and I have to click "login" to be connected. However for the past couple weeks when I tried to connect, it didn't even take me to the login page, it took to me to a page that said unable to connect. I will attach a photo. Other people can connect to the WiFi, just not me. My phone works at my houses wifi and I have no problems. I can connect to the WiFi so I don't think it's a connectivity issue, it's just I can't get redirected to complete the connection. As u can see in the pic, I am connected however I cannot access Internet. Any help?

[Q] 5.1.1 Won't connect to WiFi

So, like everyone else i've been waiting forever for this stupid update to come out.
I finally get it today, and the stupid thing won't connect to WiFi?!
Anyone else have this issue yet? :crying:
OK so turns out that it will connect, to a standard WPA/psk ap. My main ap has a Mac filter enabled, even with the devices Mac in (or filter off), it won't authenticate...
While in range of the secured Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect, you actually need to go to Settings --> Wi-Fi Settings (on the watch), and tap on the network name. It will then ask you to input the password on your phone. After you do that, it should work.
Oh... I just reread your 2nd post, and see that your issue is not a password issue. Nevermind.
Still, good information for others.
This would be great if there were a way to input password on the watch... that way, if you forgot phone, but had watch with wifi access, you could still use it.
mine is updated. My 360 still doesn't show Me the option to even connect to WiFi.
I have a htc one m8
Same issue
I have a Cisco Aironet 1142N and it is spitting out authentication errors when my Moto 360 attempts to connect to wireless. I have checked I am entering the correct WPA2 passphrase correctly on the phone. Anyone found a solution yet?

Moto 360 Wifi Settings question

So I got the new update installed, went through the new wifi setup process. During the process, I have to enter wifi password on the phone, now what happen if you leave your phone at home and went to let's say Starbucks and connect to their wifi for the first time, how are you going to enter the password?
Also, wondering how moto 360 wifi setup handles Wifi hotspots which requires you to "sign in"?
You arnt missing anything, once again it seems google and their small devices are foiled by web based logons again.
