Hey guys,
I've had my GN for about a week now with absolutely no problems until tonight. I went to bed with my phone plugged up into the charger thru the wall and when I woke up it was still at 73%
Tried unplugging and plugging back it but the phone won't even detect that the charger is even plugged in. So I tried plugging it up to my computer and it still won't detect anything. The charger is still in perfect condition and I tried plugging into the car charger, but it will slowly charge.
you know when you plug in your usb cord to a computer or charger....that little icon on the top left pops up with the usb icon on the top left
well..i tried plugging in my phone to charge thru the outlet but it won't detect it so i took it out and tried to plug it thru the computer..but my cpu won't detect anything either
also
You know how when you plug it up to your computer and you hear that chime indicating that your has recognized it as a media dive. Well, my computer won't even pick it up / recognize it anymore
I've rooted this phone, but I've done nothing else with the phone. I rooted it last week, but did't have problems until last nite. It was charging just fine when I went to bed, but woke up and it just stopped charging
Just an obvious question so forgive me if you've already tried this. Have you done a battery pull to fully reset things and see if that helps? If it's a h/w problem it won't have any impact and probably means an exchange is in order.

Yeah I'm doing that right now. I completely took out the battery and put it back it back in with no luck
I've been using the extended battery. SO i took that one out and replaced it with the stock battery and still no luck
What if I already rooted teh phone?
This is my first smartphone ................. I'm so freakin nervous right now
Did you try different cables?

Weird; I currently have the phone plugged into my computer....it seems to charge just fine ONLY if I have it faced DOWN
Would that mean it is a cable issue?
try pushing the cable upwards to see if it makes contact...i had a problem with my usb cable and had to change it.

you can always unroot the phone if you need to send it in. I would slightly jiggle the cable when charging, maybe its a loose charge port on the device itself.
Have you had a good look inside the phone's USB plug and the USB cable plug? There might be something stuck up inside one of them. If so, you can clean it up with 99% alcohol, or contact cleaner by dabbing some on a soft toothbrush and scrubbing it out. Phone off, battery out of course.

You press the tip bristles up inside the usb connector and flick downward, avoiding other areas. And the brush doesn't need to be drenched. Alcohol won't phase it unless you spill it all over the device, the alcohol quickly evaporates...considering alcohol comes in a plastic bottle.
i had this problem with my stock phone.. turned off phone and it would charge... i let it go to 100 and did battery pull and worked fine ever since
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
man, spoke to soon..... been a while since it happend , but now its happening again...
charging while phone is off seems to do the trick....
what is also wierd is that i plugged it in while the phone was off for about 5 mins and turned on the phone.... it went from 12% battery to 45%
I've just been charging it faced down. Where is the cheapest place I can buy a whole new charger?
Hi All,
About a year ago, I bought an HTC One X from Three UK. I recently came to China on holiday and bought an external battery pack from a market stall. Everything seemed to be going well until one day I plugged my phone into the external battery pack and it suddenly died even though it was on ~50% charge, it wouldn't boot and it wouldn't charge when plugged into a power supply (no red LED shining). No combination of pressing buttons would work, so I decided to get it fixed.
I went to a repair guy in China who said that he would charge me if he could repair my phone, but no charge if he couldn't. He disassembled my phone but was unable to fix my phone. He said the problem was that the motherboard was 'burnt' (I'm not sure if the literal translation is correct), and that it would cost 70% of the original phone's value to repair (although he could be wrong about my motherboard being dead)
Now my dilemma is this: I'm not sure if I should send it to Three UK or ask another cheap repair shop in the UK. The problem with sending it to Three UK is I'm not sure whether they will repair it or not - my phone is completely dead and I don't know whether they will count that as improper usage. Also, now that my phone has been opened, will the repair center be able to tell that my phone has been opened before (I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to open up the HTC One X) and then deny my warranty?
Thanks for any help that you guys can give me!

I haven't but I probably let it charge a while after my HTC One X died. Out of curiosity, why one day? It seems an awfully long time.
I'll plug it in now, and when should I take if off the wall charger? Also, what signs should I be looking for?
Thanks,

I'm hoping for a blast of life. I once thought I hardbricked mine, I left it in the wall charger and it booted up in the bootloader after being in the charger for a day. Reflashed my rom and boot.img and never have i had problems. I suggest trying to boot the phone up after a day or so, if this will not work try and charge it again and acces the bootloader right away. If you can access the bootloader you can flash custom software. Does the red LED show if you charge it? Can't you acces the bootloader at all?
Oh ok, so am I hoping for it to suddenly turn on or am I hoping that after a day or so I will be able to boot into bootloader?
I have not really used it or charged it since my phone died, but the red LED doesn't show if I charge it and I cannot access bootloader

Yes just leave it be, it's all the advice I can give to you right now.. Try it and if it doesn't work you can always get a replacement. This is a weird issue though, I also had a HTC sensation which behaved the same. Left it overnight on charger and it booted to bootloader, then I used a battery script to charge it up while it's restarting to bootloader.
Just leave it on the charger for a day or overnight, see if it turns on
The same thing happened to my previous One XL. In my case I flashed a recovery, had to reboot and the phone just "died". It wouldn't charge or turn on. Not even after charging overnight. It took a JTAG repair to bring it back to life.

Possible fix
Okay, so a while back I had this same problem. My phone turned off, and whenever I plugged it in to charge it did not seem to be charging, odd. The red light was not coming on either. I was told to do 2 things, i cant remember which order so try both.
Option 1:
Plug your phone into your turned on computer with the USB cable and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge using the wall charger.
Option 2 (not likely to work):
Plug your phone into your wall socket with the USB cable and wall charger and leave it there to charge until the red light comes on (leave for 1-2 hours, more if you feel it necessary), then quickly put it on charge through your turned on computer using the USB cable.
If neither of these work (as dumb as this may sound)turn off your phone and put your phone in the freezer for 15-30 minutes (This is done to discharge the battery, wont break your phone). When you've left it there for your chosen time, try option 1 again. If that doesn't work, turn the phone off again and put it back in the freezer for the same time and try option 2. If they don't work, i'm sorry I don't know how to help you.

Thanks, when you say it booted to bootloader, do you mean you had to press some button combination and it went into bootloader mode or did you wake up and your phone just happened to be in bootloader mode?
Also, would opening up the phone void the warranty? Because, if so, I'm not sure I will be able to get a replacement.
Thanks,

Which problem would your solution be fixing? Would it be trying to fix the battery? Because, apparently, the problem with my phone is the dead motherboard

Yeh it would be for fixing the barging issue of the battery

'Barging'? But surely fixing the battery wouldn't fix the motherboard?
Sorry, I'm slightly confused, please could you explain?

Sorry I meant charging. I found it hard to believe that your motherboard was the problem, but if you're sure that's the issue then don't bother trying my suggestion. That really sucks man, how'd it happen?

I think everyone is kinda missing the point here, the OP made reference to an external battery pack from a market stall which seems to be what killed the handset. Coupled with the fact that a seemingly reasonable repair shop, they didn't charge any money, said the board was dead I think it's safe to assume that the external battery pack was the wrong voltage/amperage or it was faulty. And just in case you do try to charge it, on the slim chance the shop was wrong about the board, it's no good charging on your laptop, you need to plug it into wall charger.

Yes, thank you so much, you are the first person to pick up on that!
I did leave my phone plugged into my laptop for a few hours, but no red charging LED. I also left my phone plugged into the wall charger overnight, but also no red charging LED. Does this confirm my fear that my motherboard is completely dead?
The guy I went to seemed reasonable, but he didn't seem 100% reliable. He didn't have a manual of the HTC One X up on his computer screen or anywhere, he just went straight in, although it might just be me being the skeptical one. I would say I don't completely trust him, so should I go to another cheap repair shop in the UK or just send it to Three and hope they don't notice the phone has already been opened?
Thanks,
~DarkEddy
Anything is worth a try if it isn't going to cost you money, although I must say I have seen a number of cases of external battery packs frying boards. I would say three would be your best option if it's still under warranty, but the there is a screw inside that has a seal over it and if that screw was removed then they will notice the broken seal, unless they are blind. They look for things like that so they can get out of repairing handsets free of charge. If the phone is dead you don't really have anything to lose. The only other option is sell it for parts

Thanks so much for your advice!
When you say you've seen a number of similar cases, do you often repair mobile phones or as a job?
If I do send it in to Three for repair, and they notice the broken seal, how much will they charge me to repair it or will they even give me this option at all?

This is your second thread on this issue, why not continue in the other thread...I reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44370602#post44370602
To answer you dilemma directly, send it to Three and play dumb as a post. You have no idea what they're talking about...did they sell you a refurbished phone? You're outraged, blah blah.
Or you might try going to HTC directly.
With either or, I would simply leave out the details. You plugged it in to charge, which you did, and it just died. Poof. Gone.

I suppose I should have continued in the other thread, I just thought my post was a bit cumbersome and overloaded with excess information.
Three did send me a refurbished phone when they weren't able to repair my previous HTC One X, but I'm pretty sure they would have tidied up the internals as well (adding their seals)??? They even sent it to me with some blue plastic tape covering the back and sides of the phone.
I could try going to HTC directly, but I suppose it would be more complicated than just asking Three, so I'll do what you said and hope for the best

I have a R800x Xperia play and it doesnt work no more.
Before whenever the battery would die out all the way to 0% and turn off automatically, it would take like 5 minutes of charging before it can reboot.(I would never let it go to zero but i let people use it and everytime they let it drain all the way and it bugs the sh*t! out of me, that cant even ask me for a charger!!)
anyways this last time it took over an hour of charging (with led indicator on) to be able to boot up. and before that i had left the charger on overnight and the led never turned on and i wasnt able to turn it on. And when it did start working it itwas out of nowhere after plugging it in multiple times.
This last time it was on yellow battery and i fell asleep using it so when i woke up it was drained all the way. (also i found it on the ground so it fell from my bed, but the screen is not cracked so idk if this has anything to do with the problem). I put the phone to charge and after like an hour nothing happened. 3, 4, 5 hours and same thing. i left it all night and still nothing no led no vibration! i bought a new battery thinking i might have messed up the old one letting it drain all the way (the extended battery for a r800i, dont know if that will affect it) and put it in, and nothing still. tried charging and still no led light.
i think that mayb the miniusb port is messed up and both my batteries are drained all the way! even the new one because this is an old device and they probably manufactured the battery a long time ago.
i have taken the phone apart and see nothing wrong, except for the flex cable looks a little damaged, i will upload a pic asap
So any suggestions on how to fix it myself?
thank you for any help!

the battery was completely drained. n ithink the xperia play is one of those devices where it has to be ON to charge. now it charges through the port. i have let it die again, and it wont charge no more through the port. if i use the battery seat charger and as long as it has a lil bit of charge, it'll charge thru the port. but connecting the xperia with the pc, the xperia isnt recognized. so the usb port IS messed up, it'll charge but wont sync
Would really appreciate some help with this as it has annoyed me for almost a year now.
Well here's the thing. Got the tablet just over a year ago and it did not take long before it would suddenly not boot or charge. And connecting to a comp gives no reaction from the comp that there's anything connected. Would normally have turned it in for the warranty, but I've been searching for months now and I just cannot for the life of me find the warranty paper on it. I've also searched a lot on google for this problem and it seems that most have it solved by disconnected and reconnecting the battery, but this unfortunately did not make any difference for mine. I could get a battery replacement if that's the problem, they're not all that expensive, but it's money I do not want to spend in just hope that this will solve it. Is there anything else that can be tried to get ANY sort of reaction out of it? Or if there's any way of finding out if it will work to simply change battery?
*bump*
No one?
Which model do you have? Also, are you using the Samsung oem cable?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
SM-T210 I think. Not sure if that's the number you want but the only one I can find that refers to model.
Wasnt aware there really was multiple models of it beyond the Wifi or 3g version and different size storage which should not affect anything like this.
As for cable, I've tried both the cable that came with it (samsung plug and usb cable). A friend's samsung charger that is not usb other than the microUSB (as in not detachable). And a regular usb of unknown brand. Tried charging both from plugs and trickle charge from usb on comp, and diconnected/reconnected the battery in between each attempt.
*bump*?
This also happenned to me yesterday and i tried a lot of things.
The only thing that worked was to trickle charge the tablet with a original Samsung charger (the tablet said it was not charging but it was) and then, reconnect the battery, go into recovery mode and do a factory reset.
I learned my lesson i and will now program the GT-P5220 to auto-shotdown when it reaches 20% battery.

I've had mine connected to the comp for a week straight, and still no reaction, nor any reaction after reseating battery after this week now... If I could just be sure it was the battery it's an easy fix, but spending the money on a battery, just to find that it makes no difference, would REALLY suck, since a new battery is ~50% of a brand new tab altogether. Not that I would ever buy another Samsung device again seeing as how this is apparently a very common problem with their devices (even if it's usually easy to fix).

Sure it's only £7.20 for the battery. But there's £12 shipping. Plus tax and import fees. End result: ~£30 (just barely a pound or two cheaper than the local stores), with a brand new tab of same type costing ~£65-70... I'm not paying half the price of the device just to test. I'd rather donate the tab to the local hackerspace (at least the screen should be usable to them if nothing else) and then never touch another Samsung device ever again.
Hey guys. I have a global Mi Mix 2 that doesn't charge at all while it's on. When it's off, it charge very very slowly (1% per 5 minutes). Also after turning off the phone with the charging cable plugged in, it will try to stay on fastboot mode until I unplug the battery.
I've already tried the following:
Using different charging cables
Different chargers
Switched the battery
Changed the charging port.
Anything else that may help me solve this problem?

Thanks for your mostly useless tip. Phone repair services around my area will not touch this phone or it doesn't make sense to pay $200 for them to fix it when I can get a new one for that price.
Other forums has recommended for me to replace a couple of micro components which are being shipped right now. I'll reply again when I've finished replacing them.

Other forums has recommended for me to replace a couple of micro components which are being shipped right now. I'll reply again when I've finished replacing them.
