I'm running rooted 14.5.A.0.270 and I was wondering if anyone has successfully modded /system/bin/wpa_supplicant to make ad-hoc networks visible.
I've seen a lot of tutorials, but they're all quite old and for other devices.
Can anyone confirm if there's a working method for Z1C with Lollipop? Or even something for some older version that I might attempt.

I'm trying to connect my phone up to my works Cisco VPN.
I've read online that I need a compiled version of tun.ko kernel module in order for it to work. I've checked in /system/lib/modules/ and can't see it in there.
There are instructions online for compiling it which I wouldn't mind doing but I'm guessing this will have to wait until HTC release the kernel sources for the One X(?)
Can I use the module from another phone running the same kernel version?
EDIT: Sorry just done some more reading and found out tun.ko is baked into ICS so this can't be the problem I'm having
Did you manage to get this working? I am trying to connect to a L2TP/IPsec PSK VPN and I keep getting a timeout.
This has been working for the past 2 years on my gingerbread Desire HD.
I think it's to do with this issue:

Infrastructure is not supported by my computer, according to this post: http://askubuntu.com/questions/106745/how-to-find-out-if-my-card-supports-infrastructure-mode
SO I cannot create infrastructure network.
I can create ad hoc network, but so, Android won't recognise it.
I have also tried bluetooth connection sharing, but seems impossible, so I will maybe go back to previous release of CM that support ad hoc.
Hello,
I'm trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 wifi to an ad-hoc network for internet. I understand this is disabled by default and a file needs to be replaced for it to work.
I searched around but could not find an up to date file for 4.2.2 version of android which runs the tab. If anyone has the file or another method please share it.
My device is already rooted on stock ROM.
Thanks

the same question I want to ask .
Hello all,
since i quitted the official ROM for cyanogen (10.2 and then 11, the version of ace2nutzer 20141118 with his kernel of 20141212), it is impossible for me to connect to a wifi 802.1.x. THis system is used in enterprises and universities. In particular, as i work in a university, i need to connect to the eduroam network which exists all over the world (eduroam.org). I tried all the tricks found with google but none of them worked (mainly modifying the wpa_supplicant and wpa_supplicant.conf files) .
It used to work with the official ROM but impossible now.
Can you connect to such networks ?
Thank you for your help

I actaully can't try it, BUT @ace2nutzer offers a really awesome and active support for his kernel
BTW
Have you tried the a newer kernel version? 20150311 should be the latest Why can't you go back to the official rom?

Hi
Just got the Moto 360 and heard that the newest update 5.0.2 have WiFi, but I can't seem to find it. I have tried searching, but without succes.
Can anyone tell me where I can enable it?
Thanks in advance
The newest update is 5.1.1. That is the update that will enable the WiFi chip but unfortunately it has not yet been pushed to us.
It should come in the coming days/weeks so just need a little more patience.
