The battery drains SO FAST!! - Sony Xperia ZL

Hello xda community. I have Sony Xperia ZL for about 2 years right now. Recently the phone battery became so weird, it shuts down at 90%. Even if the battery is full after like 15-30 it would shuts down and restarts than Fully shuts down and it needs a recharge to boot again. previous to this incident the phone was usually shuts down at about 34-28% but that was way better than this ridicules situation. Please Help.

sounds like you need a new battery, read some of the other top posts in the Q&A section here..

[Q] battery showing 1% but well above 3600mV

My Desire HD always shows battery to be well above 3600mV when the battery meter is at 1%..0%.
When fully charged, the battery is at 4211mV.
Is this normal?
I read from the Nexxus One "[UTILITY] Battery calibration tools" thread that the battery should go down to 3201mV to be at 0%. 3600mV to 3201mV is a quite wide range, so I'm wondering if a large portion of the battery capacity is wasted and not used.
I have tried various calibration methods, but it's still the same.
The "[UTILITY] Battery calibration tools" downloaded from Market does not work on my DHD. The tool is for batteries with the ds2784 chip, but my DHD is showing it has a ds2746 chip--from the driver directory.
I have tried to let the battery reach 0% and have a forced shutdown, and after that, I boot into recovery and let it stand for more than 10 minutes. And then after a reboot, the battery would be at below 3400mV. I could repeat the same procedure again, but I was afraid of deep discharging the battery to below 3201mV and damaging it.
Is there any way to calibrate the battery so that it's below 3300mV when the battery meter shows 1%?
Thanks.
Hi, i need more informations...is your phone rooted? Have you already tried wiping battery stats?
Do you have original or aftermarket battery?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yes, the phone is perm rooted and Eng S-off.
When I tried various calibration methods, I tried to wipe battery stats when the battery reached 0% and also did a battery wipe when it's charged to 100%. I've also tried to just wipe the battery stats on a full charge but not when 0% left, but it doesn't make any differences.
The battery is an HTC original stock.
Phone was bought new last May, but I mainly used it as a mobile phone sparingly since last July (only a few days a month). I only started to use it seriously as a smart phone two months ago. I have a Leedroid-derived ROM on it, which is VERY power-conserving: averaging 1ma on stand-by.

Having same issue. last night my battery died at 3680mv. after completely shut down. I remove battery & leave for 20mins.
When i reconnect battery & power up. jumps back to 2% battery. & dies again after further 10mins still over 3600mv.
Can repeat this several times.
but never gets below 3600mv.
Have tried same as stated above. wiping batt stats when 0% & 100%.
I have..
DHD RCmix3D 2.3.5 sense 3.5. Lordmod v5.0 kernel. Original battery.

I'm facing the same issue.
My phone shuts off approximately 3650mv.
I have tried both android reveluton and leedroid roms. Both are the same.
Cannot get a full day battery power. Please help
I started this thread here in the DHD Q&A forum simply because I was not allowed to post on those battery-related threads in the development forums, since I was new here. Those development forums are where the experts are, and I wasn't expecting to get a real answer here an way. I'm collecting my 10th post on xda, and so it's time to move this question to where it should really belong. I'll post an update here if any expert speaks.

Hopefully somebody helps to solve our problem.
It is very annoying that the phone shuts down itself while there is so much power stays in it...
I see that my desire hd uses 3-5mA in standby, but when the screen is on it jumps to the 300mA that is very high.
I have done all recomended steps in forum (like auto sync, live wallpaper, etc.) but the problem hasn't solved
My DHD battery lasted 3days and 4 hours.
Still left 10% 3628mV in medium usage and max 100% 4206mV. DHD battery maybe not go to below than 3580 - 3630mV. It depends on battery, hardware, software and usage on device.
and
sorry for my english is not so good.
maybe you didn't perform a total wipe
try to wipe all:
- data and cache
- Dalvik cache
that should reset the battery information
good lauck
I am sure that I have wiped it all.

20% Battery Shutdowns

Hi all.
As a desire user you're sure to understand what problem I'm talking about. I've tried calibrations and testing but still my phone turns off at 18-20% battery.
Im running cm7r2 hboot with Runnymede&Bliss mix Wmjan Sense 3.5 Rom.
Would anyone please help with some clear cut instructions?
With kind regards.

Gonna test them later tonight.
One thing: when discharging phone from 10% ... Did you let the phone turn off at 1% and then recharged it to 100% on rebooting or the moment it said 1% you plugged in?

Method that is described here is the only working solution to calibrate battery. Deleting batterystats.bin does nothing (because they are deleted every time you plug off your charger when at full or near that)

I've said it before and Ill say it again. 20% shutdown is just a problem with battery calibration, its not a problem with capacity. Even though you phone shuts down at 20% the capacity is unchanged. The easiest solution to the problem is just to remember that 20% = 0% for you and live with it. Going through a lengthy fix is not worth it imo.

Huh? I think you are on a verge of great discovery regarding battery technology then.

Fix is not lengthy. It can be done in one charge cycle plus some elementary math if you know how to read.

Cant remember where I read the original article (think it may have even been on XDA front page) but her is another one I found after 30 seconds of using the google machine, which has some very pretty graphs that may enlighten you.
http://78michel.unblog.fr/htc-desire-battery-shutdown-analysis/
And the conclusion is *drum roll please*
"As the discharge current is constant and almost identical in all tests, it is clear that the old batteries ( Part number xx-01M and xx-05M) have both lost about 15% of their initial capacity as they stop about 15% earlier.
Why the HTC Desire ( and may be some other smartphone ?) is not able to take into account such a capacity loss?"
You are very welcome.
I installed the kernel from the battery fix i think it was version 5. Run the battery calib app. Followed the instruction on the forum. And now my battery shutsdown on 0%. I'm using Seb's Runnymede AIO v6.1 Beta

If I might observe that you're very cocky for someone who failed in his statement and then linked to the article that proves that fail.
Indeed, article is true, up to the point we all know now, thanks to theGanymedes research, why battery percentage and capacity get misaligned, with wonderful guide how to fix it easily, au contrair to what you said.

So I see two possible things at work:
a) lapsus linguae due to lack of punctuation, so even if you thought that the as it's age grows battery looses it's capacity (which is kinda self explanatory), it was not what you expressed.
b) you stated that as battery grows older, it's capacity remains unchanged, and if you can find a proof of that, you should be hired by some of battery manufacturers.
Either way, your rhetoric goes with situations where you are 100% right and can not get disproved, which you have been here. I strongly suggest not to pursue that path any longer here.

Well, making the long story short I decided not to calibrate the battery. It's a long process and terminates if the phone is charged while it is off.
I flashed a different rom and kernel. Getting 20-22hr battery (100%-20%)
My 80% battery provides me almost a full long day. So I'm happy with this. Btw thanks for the help folks.

[Q] Battery problem sucking the life out of me

I really am close to killing myself due to sadness and disappointment because of my phone's battery life. lol. I have a Galaxy Note 2(4.1.1 ver) and my battery lasts for 12-16 hours. I use it mostly for Facebook, Google, Viber and YouTube. I have other typical social networking/comm apps (YM,Skype, Instagram,Twitter) but I dont use them often. I have less than 10 games (Temple Run2, Angry Birds, Diamond Dash) but I dont play for more than 15 mins. I have observed that when my phone is NOT in use, it decreases by 7-10% per hour (sometimes 1% per minute on idle) during the day. At night, before I go to sleep, it is a fully charged phone and when I wake up, 25% of the battery's life is gone within 8hrs of not touching it even to check the time. I dont know if its the normal draining rate of the battery, if its a factory defect on the battery or the phone itself, or if it is the app or android system. They say you need to turn off the location or something but I couldn't seem to find it. My phone is just 4 days old, or maybe 5. Im hoping when the phone turns a week old, things will be better. Or should I try to kill myself now? Any possible solutions???
PS. Please try to use "simple" instructions or terms. I really am not good about technology.
I used to have this exact same problem (Everything you said exactly happened to me) Heres what i recommend you to do:
1)First off are you rooted?
2) Get Better battery stats from the playstore or get the XDA Edition (Look it up) This will give you whats draining your battery (Apps)
3)There might me a wake lock thats stopping your phone from sleeping (I used better battery stats to fix this too) I was in school and i left my phone in the car it had 95 % and it drained to 21 % which definitlely sucked alot. Because there was an app that stopped the phone from going to sleep (it basically stayed awake while the screen is off..i hope it makes sense)
Also the battery drain in idle is normal it also happens to me mine drains maybe 2 or 3% in around 5 hours.
Bottom line, get better battery stats. I will be glad to help you out as much as I can. Good luck!
There must be something wrong because if you read around the forum you will find people are reverting back to 4.1.1 because it has the best battery life !

Please don't post multiple times for a problem. Aside from making it confusing for people who may want to help or follow if they have the same problem, it's extra noise. :/
If you mispost in the wrong forum, just pm a moderator to move it. And suicide, really? Just a tad over dramatic.

Yeah. That's the problem. Its been 3 days in a row that i leave my phone at 100% and I always get a 75% bat when i wake up after 7-8hrs. I have no problem on my battery getting drained WHILE IN USE. But while sleeping? I think that's not normal.

Your idle drain is not normal. Something runs in the background whether it is location services or some app. Like others have said install betterbatterystats and see what drains the battery and prevents it from going to deep sleep.
The other night my phone lost 3% in 9 hours sleep. Around 1% each third hour. 3G on and all.

[Q] Battery life drained after 4 hours of no activity after new ROM!!

Hi sorry I've got what may be a silly question. I haven't really messed around on xda since my evo. Got an s3 last week. Rooted last night and flashed LiquidSmooth. Now it seemed to be working fine, but here's what happened when I woke up. I had it on the charger from midnight on. I woke up around 3:30am and saw that it was fully charged. Pulled it off to check a text. Set it back down (not on the charger). When I woke up to my alarm at 7:30, it was down to 28% battery. it showed 4 hours on battery and just drained really fast. Display was at 47% usage. Cell standby at 19%. What can I do about this? I feel stupid that I can't even figure out how to screenshot. On my old phone it was always power+home.
Thanks for your time!

You can take a Screen Shot two different ways. One is to Palm Swipe. Put the side of your palm on the screen of the device, and swipe. Left or right does not matter. The other is Power, and Home. Home. Just hold till you hear the click sound. Included a video . Now as to your draining issue. It sounds like you had a really bad Wakelock. What Apps do you have installed ? Did you restore the Apps ? Did you restore any Data ? You can DL, and Install BBS ( Better Battery Stats ) . It will help you pinpoint your issue faster.
CPU Spy
You may also consider downloading CPU Spy from the market. It tells you the speeds your phone is running at.
I have seen my phone die with the quickness after rom flashes before. Usually(USUALLY) after a cycle or two, it will behave itself.
Yeah, wait through a cycle or two of battery life and then you'll see the real results. Initial results are usually misleading because you gotta let the ROM settle in.

I have read carefully (unlike you) and it's perfectly normal if you have a faulty battery. It happens all the time. Solution is to get a new one.
Have you tried another battery?
Which battery do you have?
I have been searching from last 3 days. Battery is default note 2 battery. I am asking basically about heat problem, why the set remain heated while it is powered off and continue to drain battery. I have searched but if you can help how I need to search and where specifically then tell me?

You haven't even given relevant info like what rom you're on or if you have changed kernels or anything else recently. Have you checked battery usage info to see what is using most etc etc etc etc?
It sounds like either your battery is defective or an app is working overtime in background.
I haven't changed anything. I am on 4.4.2 stock and phone is not rooted.
Do you think I should root it & check battery usage with some third party application?
