So I'm just trying to see if anyone knows. I'm coming from Samsung has everyone from the original to the s4. And I know when I start getting root and recovery and start messing with roms. Sometimes it's easier to just restore it using a program called Odin. Such for Warranty for to take it to the store for a problem. My question is do we since I switched to the lg g4 do we normally have a similar program? I'm new to this. Thanks in advance.

you have to go adb command in dos promt. If you read G4 thread you will find excellent guides.

You can also turn the device off, then, while holding the volume down press the power button. Hold both down until you end up in LG's "official system recovery" screen. There is a factory data reset in there.
You can do a factory reset from the LG Recovery (As stated above), or from the G4's settings app, or you can do a KDZ reset via downloadmode and the LG Flash Tool.
So really you have quite a few options you can choose from, just select the way you feel most comfortable with using (though no matter which way you go you should have no problems)

Ok, so I have a 32gb 2013 Nexus 7 which is now bricked and i didn't do anything to brick it! Really!
It's stock, not even rooted... nothing. Never got around to doing anything to it... just left it alone.
So last night it was having trouble connecting to my home wifi so I rebooted it. When it came back up, it got stuck at the white "Google" logo, and ... nothing... no animation, no nothing.
I left it for the day and came back, and it's still doing that.
So - dug a little and decided I'd do a hard reset.... i can get into recovery (stock), i cleared the cache... but now when I try to wipe data/factory reset... it gets stuck there too.
I've got the Android guy with "Erasing..." below him. A blue progress bar that is NOT MOVING and text ...
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
and that's it just sits there.
have tried it twice already and nothing.
Any suggestions?

You can use it to restore to stock without using recovery mode. As you open it you have to download some packages(just accept).
I will attach an image below to show you what it should look like.
Secondly you need to enter bootloader mode as shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV1ffMCXRg4 (Skip to 2:30)
Basically you make sure the tab is off then press the volume up button then press the power button and hold both.
Back to the Nexus Root Toolkit. Click Flash Stock+ Unroot while having the Status as: Soft Bricked/Bootloop just like in the picture below.
Just accept all the request made by the program and you should be fine.
@kenrothman don't worry, your N7 will be fine. Our device has a bit "nervous" /data partition. The method from the post above should work.
Alternatively, you could also do some other methods with price of data lost but try this first.

can't seem to do this because my bootloader is locked.
100% stock, this one is.
i tried to unlock the bootloader, because at this point it's ok if i have to wipe everything...
but it just hangs on the "yes" "no" page after i select "yes" and hit the power button.
ugh.

Did you ever use ADB / fastboot? I prefer to do such things manually as the tools might do something else than I want.
If you didn't use it yet, there is an excellent guide by comminus for N7 2012 how to flash factory image with fastboot.
Find it and in the beginning is the part with installing drivers, SDK etc. That part is identic for the N7, also bootloader unlocking.

Any updates yet? In the bootloader (if you can get to it) does the line "LOCK STATE" say locked or unlocked?

sorry, didn't have much time over the weekend.
i had previously tried to use 'fasboot oem unlock' on my mac, but that hangs as well.
i'm beginning to think this may be a hardware issue... i did a support chat session with google who basically told me i had done everything they could think of and they sent me to Asus. I haven't tried with them yet.
I'm willing to completely wipe the thing to bone stock at this point... i mean, i hadn't even rooted it... never felt the need to.
The "factory reset" from recovery really should just stomp on it, but that hangs too.
I will probably give Asus support a shot... esp if it's hardware and needs to be replaced or whatever.
so i have the sprint lg g2 ms980 with the lastest kit kat update. i was trying to manually install cyangenmod OS but i used the autorec app to access recovery instead of using the hard keys. it is know to cause white lines on the screen and there is a usable fix. i have done and fixed it before. however the most recent time using the app has caused the white lines to become much more severe. i can no longer see anything on my device it will not shutdown only soft reset. that i am aware of, because i cannot see anything, i cannot access download mode or restore mode. also the computer no longer recognizes the device. please help me i am not completely ignorant on these matters but this goes over my head.
If you have custom recovery, just hope power down until screen shuts off. Keep holding down, as lg screen comes up. When it disappears and the screen goes dark. Let go. Phone will be powered down.
Hold volume down and power. Keep them both held down until it says loading recovery.

okay so i fixed it. umm there were alot of steps involved. you must flash each partition individually and extract them from .tot file. then you can change com to 41 and use lg flashtool to restore to stock rom zv7-zvc. i have not seen the zvd.tot file but the zvd update has relesed for sprint. if more detail neccessary repy.
No tot die zvd. Just a little update. Where zvc was a major change.

Bump look up
I have an HTC One M9, all stock, locked, and untampered with but I cannot boot into Recovery. I can boot into Download mode, and the Bootloader but when I try to go from the Bootloader to the Recovery menu it gives me the red triangle exclamation point and then does nothing. I've talked to Verizon no service and they just read from the screen, hold the vol button blah blah blah. Talked to best guy's geek squad and they had no clue what a Bootloader or Recovery mode were, so I'm here where I know the community is all about phones. Anyway I've tried factory resetting from the menu and going looking for Recovery I've tried with SD and SIM removed, I've tried with both removed before after and during a FR. Same result. I'm thinking either someone had installed spyware on the device or this app called Google Device Policy are doing me from accessing it? I'm trying right now to find out of somehow I have a Corp over stock return cause everything I've come across on that device policy app says it's used by Corps and the government for tracking device usage. It doesn't appear in any list I've been able to find for native apps installed on HTC or more specifically the M9. Hopefully here I won't get asked why I want to boot into Recovery, hahaha.
Well it seems this one even stumps the pros. At the minimum I thought someone would have heard of that Google Device Policy app and commented. Well tomorrow I'm contacting my insurance co and seeing if this would qualify as a defect and try to have it replaced. I mean I can't get locked out of my phone cause I'd have no way to reset it in order to get back into it. One last thing, I was able to select to disable that policy app but disabled or not I still have no recovery menu. And of course it's not one that can be uninstalled.
I've also considered that my soon to be ex may have placed a spy app on the device. From what I've read they can prevent the device being FR, I'm assuming to prevent themselves from being uninstalled. Some require root which my device says that it has not been, and she is not savvy enough on her own to accomplish. I can FR from the menu but I'm not sure this doesn't stimulate a FR or something crazy like that... Which again I think would require root... And around we go again. Hey crazy ex's while going thru divorce can make you a little noidded, which maybe I am but it still doesn't trump the fact that I have no recovery and there's this strange app on the phone I can see and maybe something I can't???

Well HTC got me to Recovery. Still not happy that it's not a typical route.
So everything as normal until I get to the red triangle. Once there, hold the power button and tap the up vol button and I have all of my Recovery mode options.

Thanks man, you are a lifesaver. I just updated my HTC One M8 to marshmallow and couldnt find the right combination to enter recovery. I tried everything and nothing worked until THIS!
i cannot believe how ridiculously difficult HTC made it do get into stock recovery.
I had SAME problem for hours!! trying to load the stupid stock recovery. i tried Labtofers instructions pressing all 3 buttons after selecting "recovery" in menu. then i tried Android revolution rom said press vol up then power. didn't work. (but they did say try other combinations). then tried vold down and power. it just got back to bootloader and download mode. . then I read this thread, and after hold power THEN CLICK VOL UP! did it. (tks guys). this instruction should be in ALL the recovery OP threads. so stupid HTC os sometimes. (... and I still can't xxxx install OTA update from phone, even though my new replacement phone is completely stock!)
OT (rant- My last M9 was s-off and rooted. i was hoping that i could update this new replacement phone to Marshmallow and stay stock for a while, but now its stuck on 2.9.xxx.xx firmware as the original system update 2.10.xxx.xx fails every time! and its a new phone! htc really need get their act together. This is my second M9, and my first M9 already had so many problems before also. rant over. sorry had to get that out. the how to get to stock recovery was just last straw today. peace)
Hi ,,I have unlocked s off m9 sprint with deleted os while trying to flash new rom ,,now stuck into bootloader ,,no recovery what shud I do now

Just a sidenote: It's explained in the FAQ of the ReadMe thread which is pinned at the top of the General and the Q&A section. So this thread is not the only place where the key combination gets mentioned.
I had a battery issue with my old Note2 and, before I realized it was the battery, I'd wiped the phone and returned it to new. I don't use it for anything more than a PDA and Media controller since I've upgraded to newer phones but I use it A Lot around the house and depend on it about as much as my Note 5
Anyway, I've got it rooted, I went to the EFS folders and the Factory Mode is ON the KeyStr is ON but, every time I reboot the phone, I still get that overlay screen and notice. I can turn WiFi on after the phone boots back up and I can get the Factory mode to go away by going to Settings> More> Application manager> ALL> factory Test and clearing the data. This is a temporary fix. After I reboot, I get the screen again.
Also, when I go to the All area and scroll to Factory, I see 2 Factory Mode icons. One is 84KB the other is 560KB.
Is there something else I need to do in order to reset this phone so I can get rid of the Factory Mode screen? I rellay need to get this PDA back up and running again.
Thank You in advance.
Do you have a custom recovery or can you get to download mode?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA-Developers mobile app
No. No Custom Recovery. I can get into recovery mode. I found a website awhile back during my searches that had the Sprint .tar file and I tried to reinstall it via Odin but after the install, I still get the screen.
I don't know if I did something wrong during the install or if there is just something wrong with either the software or, could there be a hardware glitch that could be causing this? I really haven't done much rooting and customizing of my cell phones and such over the years so I've been kind of crash coursing myself on how to do it. I build computers and work with electronics as a hobby on the side but I've just never really done much with the smaller devices.
I appreciate any insight.
Thanks
Can you get into recovery mode (power home volume down). If so you could reformat and go back completely to stock using Odin. I'll post a link in a few to stock firmware

Thank You.
I am trying that version of the OS now and will let you know if that fixes it. It is downloading into the phone now.
Edit:
Downloaded, Installed, Rebooted automatically through Odin and it still came up with the Factory Mode screen.
Something it hasn't ever done before, after I connected it to my network, it recognized a need to download and install another System update.

Still no luck. After booting up, I still have the Factory Mode Screen on.
I can still get it to turn off while on by going through the App Manager and force stopping the Factory Mode and Factory Test apps and that stops the screen from coming back on.
The only other issue I have is the occasional request to activate that phone.
It just seems very odd that this issue has been so hard to repair.
Thank You again for your assitance. I appreciate it.

My G3 is stuck on the booting screen and nothing works. I can't go to recovery menu. But I can hear my notifications, no calls though.
I tried to root my G3 using kingroot then replacing it with SuperSU. I restarted the phone after just to see if it's ok then this happened. It wouldn't start up. It just shows the "LG: life's good" thing and doesn't do anything else. I can't even go to recovery or download menu.
Now soon I am going to send it for repair. There is important stuff in my phone though such as pictures, text messages, my gmail and other accounts.
Will they be able to see it if they manage to repair my phone? a relative told me that I erased my android operating system..
Hopefully someone will help me here.
I'm no expert regarding phones with LG ROMs, but you might have had a locked bootloader. If i remember correctly, my old G2 needed its bootloader unlocked before doing any fancy stuff. I now have a G3 and i'm terrified to do anything to it. (After some nasty Soft & Hard bricks on my G2)
Can you explain better what you mean by "replacing Kingroot with SuperSU". Did you have both installed at the same time or what? Some people had problems with Kingroot that it would lose root after you reboot it (G3)
You say you can hear notifications, how can you hear them if you're not booting the OS? You said it's stuck at LG logo.

Ok I managed to get to the factory reset screen by holding the power and volume down button. I confirmed it, it said "Factory reset processing" then "erasing.." with the android logo for like 2 seconds, then it disappears and goes back to the boot loop.
