[Rom]Mokee 5.1.1 Rom experiences - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There's a lot of AOSP rom on the internet, but the most rom looks the same for me. I don't see too much difference between CM based roms and I have really bad battery life.
Than I tried Mokee 5.1.1 (MK51.1-d855-150609-RELEASE.zip) and I'm surprised. With this rom I have the same (or close to same) battery life like stock rom (V20P).
Only one little thing is bother me. The antutu benchmark ponts is only around 38k but I can reach 40k with stock and 42k with BlissPop.
Any idea how can I increase the performance in Mokee? I really hate the laggy navigation in stock rom and I hate the overheating AOSP roms too, so this one is my only hope.

I also enjoyed Mokee and was disappointed in antutu score so would also be interested in recommendations AICP is also good AOSP rom with many features that you may enjoy if you have not already tested

Thanks for the tip. I'm currently testing it and I think I like it, but I got less score in antutu than mokee.
I'm trying to optimize it.
Another question:
is possible to change the double tap delay? my phone was always unlocked in my pocket.

[Discussion] What ROM do you use? (Not a best rom thead!)

Saw a lot of these threads on other phone forums and got curious.
**This is not a dev bashing, rom compairing, best rom thread!**
What rom you you use and why do you like it?
I am a flashing junky, and no... not the kind that wanders around parks in a trench coat.
I flash a rom, play with it, get bored , and flash another.
ATM im on PAC ROM and love it so far. The mix of the 3 roms combined is fun.
Just wondering what the G3 population thinks, so.. Let's hear it!
Zonerom ?it's fast, stable and battery is very good. Favorite rom so far. Been running it since it came out.
used to run zone rom when it first came out, but now that aosp roms are released, im flashing back and forth every few days.
Love how 480 dpi looks on this phone, and everything works at that dpi on these aosp roms.
... ok well almost everything, there are some features not worked out yet, but it is still good enough to be used as a daily.
Running CloudyFA's ROM. Still on a stock kick, especially with the Quick Circle case. Loving it.
Currently, bone stock. I rooted, then unrooted. For what I personally use it for, so far, stock suits me fine. We'll see what the future holds in development.
was Zone, Carbon now
Zone, based on stock 10m, is very stable and fast
Carbon, AOSP, is very stable too and lightning fast

I'm getting better battery life on every AOSP ROM I've used. My battery life on stock/stock ROMs wasn't bad either.

Nice?what rom would you recommend?
Stock>Skydragon>Pac-rom.
So far so good. Battery on AOSP holds up well. The build is a little laggy, but, as expected, this early into it.

What is best for me may not be the same for your use. I'd just pick one and flash away. I'm using Validus at the moment but have also used PAC, Beanstalk, Liquid Smooth, and shortly, AICP. They've all been solid with no issues for me.
currently running stock rooted. liquid smooth would be my daily but I have had to many blue screens on it.
Carbon currently. Loved PAC, but would get lag during some games and stutters here and there (expected). Tried Validus but had issues with unlocking screen and texting. AOSP has much better battery life than stock in general, for me at least. Haven't found one issue with Carbon yet.

Does exposed work on carbon? G3 tweakbox?
CloudyG3 1.2. I've tried pretty much every one of the stock and non-stock custom ROMs and I keep coming back to this. It has stock functionality with AOSP speed and performance.
Before Cloudy was released, I would have bet my house that I would have ditched stock ROMs for good once they got the camera working. It's not that the stock build was bad, but between it being a little wobbly and me coming from a Nexus 5... Even SkyDragon, Zone and Lonely didn't get to where I really wanted.
Now I'm all in with 'stock' again.... Because of that ROM

Xposed does work on AOSP ROMs but I don't think G3 tweaksbox will though. That's built to run on a LG based ROM. I personally think that most AOSP ROMs have enough built in options that xposed isn't necessarily needed. App Settings(per app DPI settings) was always the only module I ever really used on AOSP based ROMs.
Carbon - everything just works!

I haven't tried Xposed on Carbon, there is enough options in settings that I don't find myself needing it. Although I would assume it would work. G3 Tweakbox, on the other hand, probably wouldn't. That's more focused on stock mods.

One has pretty low score and another just the same. I was expecting 170K for a custom rom as Le Pro 3 typically gets 160-166K

That's kinda telling that the stock EUI rom is not as bad as many people thinks. I am not really expecting that the custom roms will perform better that stock roms anytime soon. This requires a lot of kernel level tweaking.

I think generally, most people don't complain about stock performance, but rather the UI. I don't have much of a problem with it other than I wish I could toggle WiFi on/off and go straight back to the app I was using. But that's minor.

I might give the Miui ROM a chance at some point. Anyone tried both CM 13 and this ROM? I wonder which one "feels" smoother... not really worried as much about synthetic benchmarks. I know the CM ROM scores lower on that end but it seems pretty smooth otherwise. Much lower benchmark score than stock, but it feels quicker to me.

I have, maybe CM, but they're all very fast/smooth. CM typically benches lower but feels slight faster than those 2. Miui is cool but has a few errors and a.lot.of Chinese bloat/menu items etc. Had to use google installer to get play store too. Battery on miui is insanely good though, even a bit better than stock for me. Not quite as good on CM but still OK. It has pretty aggressive touch boost and no built in greenify features. I ended up going back to CM personally. There's still notification issues on miui and stock in some apps. For example, I sold an item on eBay overnight on miui... Never got a notification for it (and I love that chaching!), nor PayPal notification that the item was paid.
Sent from my x727 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks for the info and detailed response! Yeah, I've been pretty satisfied with CM even though it benches lower because it feels really snappy. Battery life definitely isn't as great as stock on CM but not bad at all with the huge battery. I may just stick with CM and wait for an update. That stinks that there's still notification issues with Miui.

Custom Rom Performance

Hey guys.
Just want to know your thoughts about ROM performance in terms of smoothness on different roms.
I was a long time user of tylers RR build and it was really fluid.
Now i am back on Imperium since a month (because of camera) and its overall UI performance is worse that RR.
Can you please give me some thoughts about your experience in UI/ROM peformance on Rom/builds?
thx

Well I'm not surprised you experience worse UI performance on Stock based ROMs, overall in my experience the UI performance in AOSP Custom ROMs is way more fluid and smoother, but the performance in apps is slower than in Stock based ROMs. A bit longer load times, less frame rate's but a more stable frame rate in games and a bit less responsive after a long period of use. For me the camera performance and photo and video quality on Stock based ROMs outweighs AOSP ROMs and that keeps me close to Stock. I have used Dualboot Patcher for a while so I could use AOSP ROMs as my primary ROM and and a Stock based ROM as my secondary ROM so I could still enjoy a fluid and smooth UI and the camera performance of Stock when needed. I really dislike the micro stutters I experience on Stock, especially when I'm scrolling. But I dislike my phone getting slow after a long period of usage even more, which forces me to reboot my phone regularly. So because of that I am running a Stock based ROM as my primary ROM for now.

thx a lot for your feedback!
Thats a good idea with dualboot patcher, but (for me) not really practical
Your experiences coincide with mine!
In my case i also had thermal issues with AOSP roms -> cpu runs hotter quickly than on stock.
Did you also experienced such a behaviour?
Which AOSP rom do you use?
And which do you think has the best (UI) performance?
thx

No problem! :good:
Oh, for me the CPU on AOSP ROMs actually ran a bit cooler and heated up less quickly than on Stock. Although my G4 never really runs that hot even on Stock. And I forgot to mention that I get better battery life both in stand by time and average SOT while running a AOSP based Custom ROM.
At the moment I run a Stock based ROM on my G4 but I have used CyanogenMod till it's end and it's successor Lineage OS which it's pretty much the same but under a new name . I've also tried other ROMs but most of them where based on CM and are based on Lineage OS and they pretty much performed more or less the same. So no big differences.
That's why i do not use any more customs roms...
It's on the decline !
I agree with you !
-camera and video quality lost
-lost performance after a long usage
-lost customer patent and innovation
-lost the pure performance on games
-the modem is not as well as exploited as customers firmwares (sometime bad network quality on customs)
-always minors buggs and sometime big buggs
-near all devellopers wait for Lineage source (Lineage spend 1 year to build an android version and it's never "perfect"....and lots of merges,abandon,clean... on their source all the time,it's never stable and finished)
- on RR,DU...etc....you remove design customizations and you see an empty poor rom
-you loose FM radio function and there never have had effort by the dev for to port an alternative like spirit-fm radio (this dev have had big succes with some very difficult phones ,and som LG)
-you have much more chance than stock to have battery drain with some system process (the main cause of stocks firmwares drain is the google apps ! )
Maybe a custom rom is good for low and some middle-end devices (principaly for to have a light rom.....and hardwares are not the best on these devices ) but completely useless for hight-end device like G4...that's my opinion !
I use a MM firmware + simpleGX 2.0.3 kernel and i'm very happy ! Very good...

Best Camera Mod or apk

Ok so I have been on OCTOS for a while and I see like no one else is on it, so I thought it maybe isn't that great. For some reason it unrooted itself, so I went back to 30d on the T-mobile G3 with supersu. I am now looking for the best Custom Rom in regards to camera quality or if another apk will look work well with another rom. I am sick of the OCTOS grainy camera. I also don't want bad battery and a slow experience, so if there is some rom that is smoother with better camera please let me know. I will take better camera over performance if it is only a small drop though.
Try Fulmics. Based on stock lg ux 5.0, the camera is same as stock. Performance is the best it gets on stock lg rom. I am running it and i really love it. Battery life is around 4h SOT depending on usage. Also xposed is working fine. Glad if i helped

Thank you very much. Can you send me a link with instructions please? Is the performance almost as good as stock Nougat or is it a lot slower? Also is Fulmics 6.0 or 7.0?

You have all the instructions in the OP. As for performance i can tell you that you wont see the same fluidity and speed as it is on AOSP roms especially nougat. AOSP will always be better in performance because of the pure android base. Fulmics in performance is almost there but you will see the difference as it is lg stock ui. Hope i helped.

Yes it helped a lot. The camera is much better although it is still not as good as a new camera from like the pixel, but it actually looks decent instead of a complete mess. Keep in mind the battery life in fulmics is fantastically terrible same with the time it takes to turn off/on the phone.

Best AOSP ROM as of now?

I'm not a big MIUI fan but until the initial 72 hours go by I'm stuck with it... However that doesn't stop me from looking into all kind of AOSP ROMs.
I know that I'll have to test and try them all myself, but I'm curious what all of you are using and why.
My biggest focus is definitely battery life (screen time more so than standby) and I'd love it if any of you could give me numbers on this as well.

Resurrection remix, OmniROM, and LineageOS all share code trees. The differences between them should rally just be the minor feature set differences. I personally use LineageOS, but that is just because I like Lineage.
RR from Arasthel is awesome, just very very bad battery life.
OmiRom, not as smooth as MIUI, but better battery life than RR (but slightly less than MIUI)

is your device full or has 100 apps running at the background? Miui is very very smooth. If your phone is clean then something wrong is going on with your miui. Some people complained for problems after ota update. A clean install solve the problem.
To add to what @papavales is saying, check what apps have autostart enabled. Great feature from MIUI that gives you great control over resource hungry apps.
I've swtiched from MIUI to Omni weekly builds and Im surprised how good this ROM is. I find xiaomi.eu laggy like hell last time...

Had some time to run the battery through its paces yet? Debating on whether I should go with official or unofficial builds here.
Official would mean hassle-free OTA, but unofficial (judging from the changelog) seems to be better tweaked for our device?

In my opinion WEEKLY are better, but thats mine. More stable and in my example more smooth (?)
I've settled for unofficial lineage os for the time being (now that I'm unlocked I need to try them all) and I'm just so happy to be back on AOSP after being forced to endure MIUI for three days waiting on the unlock permission...
The recent screen and notification shade on that thing just kill it for me.
Back in MIUI 4 and 5 they still rocked more or less clean versions of these but everything that came after just ruined it for me.
