Hi,
I'm currently running the Paradox ROM on the SGH-T989. Now, with ICS around the corner , I'd like to know how I can revert to the official ROM.
I've already taken a backup of the original stock ROM using the Clockwork Recovery mod. I'd appreciate it if someone could post an idiot's guide on upgrading to ICS from a custom ROM.
Thanks!
Who told you ICS is around the corner. It's at least a few good months away.

Flash it like any other rom (and specified kernal if there is one) would be my guess.

An engadget article. It's being rolled out for the normal SGS-II in Europe. I can't post the links until I'm 8 posts old , so here's the quoted text from the article.
After that March 10th mishap, Samsung reaffirmed to us that it'd deliver Android 4.0 for its GT-I9100 Galaxy S II when it was darn good and ready -- well folks, the company appears ready. It's just announced both via Facebook and Twitter that the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade that so many have lusted after is now available and will begin its rollout to users in Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea today, and will move onto other markets from there -- subject to carrier requirements, of course. Better yet, Samsung has affirmed that its Android 4.0 update for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow shortly. So, if you're one of the lucky ones to receive the upgrade, let us know how it fares for you in the comments below. Otherwise, feel free to keep clicking that update button.

I'm not familiar with how long the update would take to reach Carriers though. Anyway , I'm looking for a solution on how to upgrade when the update would come.
EDIT : Oops , someone beat me to it. I was referring to the international SGS-II. I'm not sure how long it would take to reach T-mobile.
I'm sick of the same thing being covered 20 times every day.
The international Galaxy S2 has NOTHING to do with our phone. Yes the name is the same but the insides of the phone are all different. They might as well have called our phone something completely different as to not confuse people.
Nothing from the I9100 will be usable for us. Nothing. Hence, I reiterate my previous statement: We are not seeing ICS for some months to come. Sad I know.
Here's your idiot proof guide.
Sell your t989 and buy the i9100.

The real frustration with this site is that people come here looking for more information and get greeted with condescending dickishness. Those guys posting about how awful it is to have to read threads asking about the update knew fully well what this thread was when they chose to come here.
I don't see how people can be so unaware of common sense that they would be surprised that a phone called the Samsung Galaxy S II getting the ICS update might confuse people who own a phone called the Samsung Galaxy S II into thinking they are getting an update to ICS.

By looking at the history, you can tell how long it usually takes for Samsung to deliver an update for carrier phones. As far as I can remember, for the T-Mo Galaxy S, it took them about 5 months to update to 2.2 AFTER the International Galaxy S received 2.2. This was about a month after google rolled out 2.3 via Nexus S.
The reason for the delay is because every carrier wants Samsung (and other manufacturers) to ensure that their bloatware works fine on their updated versions. And no matter how good Samsung's Hardware is, their software division is freaking slow!
So good luck waiting for 4.0. My guess is that it will be out by May/June/July/August.
Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec
Ok , thanks. But the real point of this thread was on HOW to UPDATE to ICS when it would finally come. It seems like everyone missed the point here. I don't really care when the update would come, that was never stated in the thread title nor did I ask for a date in my opening post.
I was fully aware that the "When is ICS going to arrive for T-mobile??!!" has been asked a hundred times, which is why I only asked HOW to update.

Well if ICS does come for our device in about 6 months.. you can always ODIN back to stock (check allgamers stickies) and wait for an OTA update, but you might have to wait for someone to exploit root access for 4.0... sooo i would wait until a dev creates a rooted stock ROM of 4.0.

Eh , the saddest part about it is how most failed to READ the thread. It was clearly stated that help was needed on HOW to update. The question "When will the update arrive?" was never stated in the opening post.
To answer the op, there's 2 ways to do it. first is to flash back to unrooted stock and wait for the push from tmo. Instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22881355
Second way is to wait for a deodexed or rooted version from a dev and just flash like a normal ROM.

If you want to have aosp based Roms s6 could be the wrong phone, I heard from a cm developer for the note 4 that exynos and cm Roms are not good compatible together. I would inform before buying one
Sorry but Samsung isnt that open too. I would switch to Nexus or something more dev-friendly .. But well LG and Sammy are pretty similar development side..

Hi,
You might want to read the forum rules regarding bumping threads. You are allowed to bump your thread once after 24 hours with no replies, not every couple of minutes. You can always edit your first post next time instead of making more posts. It gives the appearance of impatience.
Thanks for your cooperation

Better off going a 6P if you want open.
Sticking with my G4, used all sorts of Android devices and the G4 is the only one that I feel like I could actually stick with.
Admittedly I haven't used any Nexus devices (their cameras have been renowned as terrible until recently) but I have used the stock Android experience and it feels lacklustre to me.

Hey buddy to answer your question and not be a smart a%# as some of the memebers have chosen to be marshmallow isnt out yet for our note 5, just for future reference you might want to use the search function so you dont get some many sarcastic replys. I am sorry these forums use to be so helpful and kind but seems there is a ton of sarcastic non helpful trolls on the boards. The best guess it probably feb of next year for the at&t note5. Happy new years and cheers!
I understand it isnt out yet. At the time of my post I read an article that stated the update would be any day now and I also read another saying quarter 1 of 2016. I was just throwing the topic out there for simple discussion. I didnt expect to get blasted like that. Ive posted a couple times on here before and everone was respectful and helpful. Thanks for the kind and respectful reply.
I'm sure we would all be more then helpful if there was something we could help with. Almost every time there is an update some member immediately post that he got it.

With the update being out for like a week now I'm wondering why there hasn't been any new ROMs based on the 6.01 marshmallow. I would even be happy for just a stock rom with root, no fancy mods added. Is there an issue with rooting the MM update? I desperately need wifi calling !

Come on man. Don't be that guy.
The update released on Thursday or Friday at noon last week. It hasn't even been a business week nevermind a full week at this point. The raw files were made available pretty much right away so it's fair game for anyone who absolutely needs the rom and is willing to put some time in.
It's summer. People do this for free and have lives.
If you absolutely need to flash something the Mm ports and Cm have been available for weeks and months. It's also been reported that you can rollback from the New update so you could always go stock if it's imperative and flash back when appropriate.
Otherwise, hsbadr has uploaded the files and seems to have slots for future work in his formatting. So hold tight. Good things come to those who wait or who take the initiative.

I wasn't meaning any disrespect to you in any way. I am sure I am not alone on this, but in the OP it does sound impatient. In essence to the main question as to why there aren't any MM ROM's out yet, the only real, yet short answer is "time".

Color me cynical but...
I've read two or three threads regarding the Marshmallow OTA and I find it amusing as to how many people are losing their minds over it. It's not happening fast enough for the unrooted crowd, most likely because Verizon doesn't want their servers swamped. The people who are rooted are willing to risk bricking their devices or not being able to regain root because... I don't know why. Is there something so earth shattering in the OTA that isn't already available in a custom ROM?
And now there's a new group who wonders why developers haven't produced a custom ROM based on an OTA that's not even a week old. I could never be a developer for this sort of group. The level of ungrateful is simply breathtaking. I've been on XDA for about six years as a consumer. I can well remember when asking for ETAs was considered rude.
From what I've been able to observe, most of the good developers are driven first and foremost by challenges. Yeah, there could be money involved... enough to maybe buy a couple of six packs of beer. They're also driven by their reputations. Most wouldn't dream of foisting a half-assed ROM on people. It's far more productive for them to issue a product that is fairly polished and then be able to spend their time developing new and improved features rather than having to fix broke ****. And while some developers do live in the basement and live only to make ROMs, most have wives, kids, jobs and interests outside of ROM development.
Here's how I see it: you can be patient and wait for the developers to do their thing and be rewarded with a near OEM experience, or you can forge off into the unknown. The entertaining part of watching the trailblazers is that most of them shouldn't be flashing custom ROMs with complete instructions because they're not willing to expend the effort to learn just what it is that they're doing. Then, when they've ****ed their phones up, they don't ask for help, they demand it.
One more point: The Note 4 is over 18 months old. That is ancient in the consumer electronics world, even while the hardware is still highly competitive against the newest phones. Many developers have moved on to greener fields. There's a smaller base of community for ideas to be bounced around. Things won't move quite as fast.

1. Anyone who replied DID "answer" his question.
2. Some people are too thin skinned and can't seem to handle someone being honest and strait forward.
3. It's really very silly to blame others for "your own" mistakes. It's not our fault if someone can't or doesn't follow directions. It's people like us that actually help this community. A users "Thanks Meter" doesn't get higher on it's own.

With 5G you need to stand 5 feet from the cell tower to get it, they might as well add a plug on the cell tower so you can plug an extension cord in to your phone.

Seriously, that is not the feedback I am getting. T-mobile has it right running low bands for 5G but it will take time. The problem is most phones do not need that kind of speed. 50 Mb/s is fast enough for now to update apps/ROMs. Most are still buying and feel that 5G is more for home internet. I think 5G will take about 3 years to make any impact on the market place. Even then, most really don't care. It is a mistake to use 5G as a selling tool for phone because if the person does not get performace they will return the phone.
and yes low bands can become saturated.

I don't disagree. 5G is mostly useless for phones. Home internet and applications requiring extremely low latency and high bandwidth are where it will make an impact. That won't matter to most phone buyers though, as evidenced by the latest AT&T advertising campaign......

Time is not up, they should take their time. More important things to deal with than removing a post that you can simple skip over

I will not debate you on this but keep in mind that there are forum rules and everytime someone pushes things futher and futher it just sets a presidence for the next thing. More people will use this thread to post whatever they feel. Keep in mind ""Hi"" is not a topic. There is POT hi, hi how are you, hi. How high are you (altitude), etc. Again, this thread needs to be delete. If you feel different, I understand.

Whatever, it doesn't do any harm and doesn't really matter.
There isn't much happening here anyway.
I'd understand if people spammed the forum with "hi"s, but in this situation you could just ignore the post that annoys you or you're not interested in.
OK, then lets have the mods move this and change the topic to "WHATEVER"?

All you had to do is report the thread but instead you demanded they do their job. Report the thread through the report function and move on
Thread moved to general and closed as it doesn't add anything of value.
