[Q] Power Saver Mode ON by default? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have low needs for my phone and would like to have power saver enabled automatically, however I cannot find a way to do this. Is there any setting, app, tweak, command etc. that will enable power saving mode to start automatically and be the default mode?

I have turned on Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Powersaver stayed active.
I have turned on Extreme Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Extreme Powersaver dit not stay active.
If you require Powersaver only, then it shouldn't turn off once you activate it. If you're referring to Extreme Powersaver, I wasn't able to find anything on that. I will add that I do have a custom ROM. I am not sure if the ROM is why Powersaver stays on or not.
For your use I would do this:
Turn on Powersaver
Turn off Sync
GPS Off (Go to Settings >> Location >> Mode: "Battery Saving")
Turn off scanning for WiFi even while it's off (Go to Settings >> WiFi >> [Click the menu button, 3 dots on top right] >> Advanced >> Uncheck "Scanning always available" There's some other settings you may want to look at as well, like "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and whatnot.
This is all I can think of to help you out a bit more. If you don't use the internet for background syncing, you can turn off data and turn it on when you get ready to check something. In better service areas, you'll usually have data by time you're done toggling the service.

Thx. you are right about power saving staying enabled through a reboot. However, I would like to not to accidentally disable it. Is there a way to keep power saving enabled and have it not show up on the lockscreen? There should be a way to disable lockscreen notifications for power saver but I can't find one.

[Q] how to force bluetooth on in airplane mode?

when i dont want to receive calls and save batt life (on holiday for example) but still want to use bluetooth (i know it uses battery), is there a way to do this?
or otherwise, a way to turn off (disable) voice/3g without entering airplane mode?
You can turn off the radio from the *#*#4636#*#* menu.
Choose "phone information", scroll down and select "turn off radio"
Note: You want be able to access bluetooth menu in settings, so you should first configure your settings and make a bluetooth widget on a home screen, so you will be able to toggle it from there.
Hope it helps.

WLAN off when Screen off?

Hi,
I just discovered something strange: I use FolderSync to sync Music to my GN. I configured it to only sync when WLAN is available. When I sync and switch the screen of, then the Sync stops immediately and resumes when I switch the Screen back on. Is WLAN switched off when the screen is switched off? Did I miss some settings to configure that?
Thanks
May be related with some auto task killer or process killer like juice defender
Yes you missed some wifi settings. You can set there whether you want to turn off wifi with the screen, keep it always on or keep it always on while charging.
You can find it in:
Settings - wifi - ... - advanced
Thanks martan1981, but this is "always on" on my GN. So thats not the reason
Do you have any battery-saving apps like JuiceDefender or GreenPower installed? That could cause your data/wifi to turn off with the screen.
Or there could perhaps be a power-saving function built in to your ROM? I know AOKP has a Power Saver mode that could be enabled to turn data off with the screen.
wifi sleep policy should be set to never. But some people have a bug where this setting does not stick for some reason. You prob have this bug too.
I also have this problem how to fix it ?
No root stock 4.0.2

<Important> Fixes One X slow push notification

Not sure if this if workable for you guys but your could actually try this out: Settings > power > power saver > untick ypur data connection and do a reboot. That should work for those with power saver mode on and yet don't receive timely notifications. For those whom didn't enable power saver mode and yet also faces the same problem, I would highly recommend you to try out the above method by activating power saver mode and I hope this help those whom has been facing slow push notification problems

WiFi Woes & Power Saver Problems

Having just returned to the latest stock firmware after a couple of weeks testing CM12.1, I am finding that even if I turn "Keep scanning on" off in advanced WiFi settings menu, it comes back on by itself. Also, when I check my battery stats, it nearly always seems to show a solid bar for WiFi regardless of whether my WiFi was turned on or not, regardless of whether always scanning is on or off, regardless of whether location is on or off... it seems to have no effect whatever the settings are.
I am also unable to use the Power Saver function. If I try to open it, I get the "Unfortunately power saver has stopped" message. I read that disabling the stock clock or calendar apps causes this problem, so I deliberately didn't do so. Are there any other stock apps that will stop power saver from working if disabled? I guess I may have to enable everything again and then disable one by one checking power saver each time to find the culprit, but that is a huge pain in the behind, so thought I'd ask you guys on xda first

Quick Toggle of Location Setting?

Is there any way to remain stock, unrooted and have a quick toggle for the location setting (high accuracy, battery saving, device only, off)?
I keep it on battery saving generally to ensure I can make full use of Google Now but toggle location on for navigation as needed. It's clunky to have to go back in to the menu manually and change it to battery saving every time. Any suggestions?
No particularly elegant way.
I do the same as you, but have my authomation app (MacroDroid) show a notification when High Accuracy is set and a press on that notification starts a Macro that uses the Tasker plugin AutoInput to switch back to Battery Saving (MacroDroid can use some Tasker plug-ins). AutoInput allows you to automate various screen touches. So still clunky but allows you to switch back with one press.
There is a Settings Widget in stock that will get you there quicker. When you drop the widget onto your screen, it prompts for the setting shortcut type. Select Location when prompted.
If you install "Power Toggles" from the play store you can customize which quick settings buttons appear and would be able to create a toggle to get into the location settings so you could tap that and you would immediately be in the setting menu you want. This doesn't require root. Unfortunately Power Toggles doesn't seem to have the ability to cycle through those settings at all without root. Getting to that settings screen quickly is nice though.
However, If you have root access you can create a "GPS" toggle which would switch your phone between "Battery Saving" and "High Accuracy" and a long press on that toggle could pull up the location settings menu if you wanted to go to "Device Only" mode. For some reason there doesn't seem to be a way to toggle "Device Only" without going to that menu which is why I have the location menu set up as a long press on that GPS toggle. I typically leave it in "Battery Saving" and if I use maps I will toggle it to "High Accuracy".
