Not sure if this if workable for you guys but your could actually try this out: Settings > power > power saver > untick ypur data connection and do a reboot. That should work for those with power saver mode on and yet don't receive timely notifications. For those whom didn't enable power saver mode and yet also faces the same problem, I would highly recommend you to try out the above method by activating power saver mode and I hope this help those whom has been facing slow push notification problems

I have found solution for the whatsapp notification bug.
After screen lock whatsapp isnt able to receive messages as device goes into deep sleep.
There is a bug related to "POWER SAVING MODE"
SOLUTION
Long press power saving mode in notification drop down pannel
And then disable "Restrict Performance" Option.
Even though you switch off power saving mode. This option is always active. So switch it off separately.
cheers !
Im having some issues with data connection on the new M8 issues i did not have with the M7
If my phones data connection has been idle when i try and go to a website or access facebook etc. the UP arrow below H will stay solid, the DOWN arrow will never light up and the request will just... do nothing. it will just stay loading a webpage or facebook wall for hours and hours and hours.
However, if i press the power button and either turn on and off flight mode or data network mode the H and arrows will dissapear, reappear, change 3G to H and then bam... internet is back on without a problem.
What could be causing the phone to somehow "turn off data" when its idle for long enough?

no, i turn off all power saver
help me
the only other things i would look at are, maybe changing the APNs. to see if there is anything wonky there or, check your fast dormancy in venom tweaks > misc. other things to check maybe is your phone info by using *#*#4636#*#* to check if your actually connected or disconnected, or in service or out of service. and what is going on with your network when all this is happening. lastly if that doesnt work i would flash a stock rom to see if its something hard coded into the rom.
i have the same problem, did you find a solution ?
I have low needs for my phone and would like to have power saver enabled automatically, however I cannot find a way to do this. Is there any setting, app, tweak, command etc. that will enable power saving mode to start automatically and be the default mode?
I have turned on Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Powersaver stayed active.
I have turned on Extreme Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Extreme Powersaver dit not stay active.
If you require Powersaver only, then it shouldn't turn off once you activate it. If you're referring to Extreme Powersaver, I wasn't able to find anything on that. I will add that I do have a custom ROM. I am not sure if the ROM is why Powersaver stays on or not.
For your use I would do this:
Turn on Powersaver
Turn off Sync
GPS Off (Go to Settings >> Location >> Mode: "Battery Saving")
Turn off scanning for WiFi even while it's off (Go to Settings >> WiFi >> [Click the menu button, 3 dots on top right] >> Advanced >> Uncheck "Scanning always available" There's some other settings you may want to look at as well, like "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and whatnot.
This is all I can think of to help you out a bit more. If you don't use the internet for background syncing, you can turn off data and turn it on when you get ready to check something. In better service areas, you'll usually have data by time you're done toggling the service.
Thx. you are right about power saving staying enabled through a reboot. However, I would like to not to accidentally disable it. Is there a way to keep power saving enabled and have it not show up on the lockscreen? There should be a way to disable lockscreen notifications for power saver but I can't find one.
Having just returned to the latest stock firmware after a couple of weeks testing CM12.1, I am finding that even if I turn "Keep scanning on" off in advanced WiFi settings menu, it comes back on by itself. Also, when I check my battery stats, it nearly always seems to show a solid bar for WiFi regardless of whether my WiFi was turned on or not, regardless of whether always scanning is on or off, regardless of whether location is on or off... it seems to have no effect whatever the settings are.
I am also unable to use the Power Saver function. If I try to open it, I get the "Unfortunately power saver has stopped" message. I read that disabling the stock clock or calendar apps causes this problem, so I deliberately didn't do so. Are there any other stock apps that will stop power saver from working if disabled? I guess I may have to enable everything again and then disable one by one checking power saver each time to find the culprit, but that is a huge pain in the behind, so thought I'd ask you guys on xda first
I'm using Package Disabler Pro and Substratum, otherwise my phone is pretty much stock Sprint. With PDP, I've made sure all processes are enabled (so no, I didn't disable it on accident,) restarted the phone, but the Maximum Power Saver mode is still unable to be enabled through it's own menus or toggles.
I have no idea what I could do to try and let me enable it? (It's a pretty important feature to me.)
Do it manually ?!
Navigate to Apps → Settings → Device maintenance → Battery → MAX → APPLY → More options → Turn off/on maximum power saving mode
Or try Tasker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=de

You misunderstand, I was saying I'm certain it isn't disabled by PDP. I cannot click apply, it's greyed out.

This doesn't really change the fact I can't use Maximum Power Saving mode natively... not that huge of a phone junkie, I use it for a hotspot and a line for when I leave the house, rarely for videos, etc. Paying for Tasker just to see if I can enable MPSM with it is a big waste imo. (And I wouldn't use it for anything else.)
Well it works out of the box, so it is definitely something you did...
Factory reset?
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
My only guess is PDP's Device Admin through ADB tripped it up. But I'm not about to factory reset over it when I'd just have to do it again. Guess I'll have to wait for more robust non-root Package Disablers.
I'll try a system cache reset -- Edit: Nope, that didn't help.
I guess my only option is to factory reset, and that isn't something I look forward to.
I'm having the same problem, and I also use PDP. Did you ever get it to work?
So on my phone when I enabled PDP as "device owner" (because it stopped working otherwise after certain phone update or something) the max power saving mode got grayed our as well, when I delete PDP it comes right back, so it's either PDP or Max power saving, if you don't re-enable packages when you delete the PDP, those apps will stay disabled until you reinstall PDP and re-enable those apps. You can't install them because they already installed but disabled(if you left it disabled when u installing PDP) when PDP and PDP engine used to work on my phone max power saving mode worked fine, but after "device owner" became the inky option to use PDP, max power saving got grayed out.
OK, maybe I'm missing something, but I've got PDP as a administrator, and I have no problem enabling Maximun Power Saving Mode. I'm running the latest update for PDP and mostly have the stuff like Facebook, Bixby and Gmail turned off.
