when i dont want to receive calls and save batt life (on holiday for example) but still want to use bluetooth (i know it uses battery), is there a way to do this?
or otherwise, a way to turn off (disable) voice/3g without entering airplane mode?
You can turn off the radio from the *#*#4636#*#* menu.
Choose "phone information", scroll down and select "turn off radio"
Note: You want be able to access bluetooth menu in settings, so you should first configure your settings and make a bluetooth widget on a home screen, so you will be able to toggle it from there.
Hope it helps.

I have a new verizon Note 4. It's been a great phone with very few problems until recently. I can't turn off the GPS. I'm not talking about GPS running in the background of applications. I'm talking about in the Location settings I can't turn off the GPS. I slide the switch to the off position and it jumps right back to on. There's nothing I can do. I've taken the battery out, force stopped all the applications that access my GPS, and cleared my cache in the safe boot settings. Does anyone know why this is? Under "Locating Method" I can't change it to anything but "GPS only". Power Saving is grayed out and High accuracy will allow me to select it, but when I go back into settings it is back to GPS only. This isn't a huge problem, but it's concerning me that I can't decide when I want to have the GPS network disabled or not to save my battery.

You may end up having to do a factory reset. You could try downloading a toggle app and use it to try to turn off GPS.
I have low needs for my phone and would like to have power saver enabled automatically, however I cannot find a way to do this. Is there any setting, app, tweak, command etc. that will enable power saving mode to start automatically and be the default mode?
I have turned on Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Powersaver stayed active.
I have turned on Extreme Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Extreme Powersaver dit not stay active.
If you require Powersaver only, then it shouldn't turn off once you activate it. If you're referring to Extreme Powersaver, I wasn't able to find anything on that. I will add that I do have a custom ROM. I am not sure if the ROM is why Powersaver stays on or not.
For your use I would do this:
Turn on Powersaver
Turn off Sync
GPS Off (Go to Settings >> Location >> Mode: "Battery Saving")
Turn off scanning for WiFi even while it's off (Go to Settings >> WiFi >> [Click the menu button, 3 dots on top right] >> Advanced >> Uncheck "Scanning always available" There's some other settings you may want to look at as well, like "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and whatnot.
This is all I can think of to help you out a bit more. If you don't use the internet for background syncing, you can turn off data and turn it on when you get ready to check something. In better service areas, you'll usually have data by time you're done toggling the service.
Thx. you are right about power saving staying enabled through a reboot. However, I would like to not to accidentally disable it. Is there a way to keep power saving enabled and have it not show up on the lockscreen? There should be a way to disable lockscreen notifications for power saver but I can't find one.
Can somebody make, or know of a widget that disables the phone gsm radio, and turns it back on like the phone info app?
Would save a lot of time instead of resetting the phone every time the data connection decides to stop working until you do.
I found if you turn the radio off, then back on in the "phone info" app, its basically the same results as resetting it for that particular annoyance on the m9.
Can find the phone info app using most of the secret menu apps on the market.
Ive never encountered that issue.. Have you tried airplane mode?
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Airplane mode only disables data, doesn't actually turn the gsm radio off.
There's a "turn off radio" button in the testing menu - open dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#* and go under Phone information. Not sure if that would act the same as airplane mode or not tho, but it's worth a try.
That's what I've been using instead of restarting the phone.
Was wondering if anybody could make an appointment or widget to do the same thing as pressing that button.
Is there any way to remain stock, unrooted and have a quick toggle for the location setting (high accuracy, battery saving, device only, off)?
I keep it on battery saving generally to ensure I can make full use of Google Now but toggle location on for navigation as needed. It's clunky to have to go back in to the menu manually and change it to battery saving every time. Any suggestions?
No particularly elegant way.
I do the same as you, but have my authomation app (MacroDroid) show a notification when High Accuracy is set and a press on that notification starts a Macro that uses the Tasker plugin AutoInput to switch back to Battery Saving (MacroDroid can use some Tasker plug-ins). AutoInput allows you to automate various screen touches. So still clunky but allows you to switch back with one press.
There is a Settings Widget in stock that will get you there quicker. When you drop the widget onto your screen, it prompts for the setting shortcut type. Select Location when prompted.
If you install "Power Toggles" from the play store you can customize which quick settings buttons appear and would be able to create a toggle to get into the location settings so you could tap that and you would immediately be in the setting menu you want. This doesn't require root. Unfortunately Power Toggles doesn't seem to have the ability to cycle through those settings at all without root. Getting to that settings screen quickly is nice though.
However, If you have root access you can create a "GPS" toggle which would switch your phone between "Battery Saving" and "High Accuracy" and a long press on that toggle could pull up the location settings menu if you wanted to go to "Device Only" mode. For some reason there doesn't seem to be a way to toggle "Device Only" without going to that menu which is why I have the location menu set up as a long press on that GPS toggle. I typically leave it in "Battery Saving" and if I use maps I will toggle it to "High Accuracy".
Hi there,
i am facing a curious problem and i am kind of lost. Usually i (manually) set my phone on airplane mode during the night and thus was quite surprised when it kept vibrating because i got messages. So i took a look and was dumbfounded, when the quickSetting-buttons for airplane mode was highlighted (airplane mode active) and the ones for WLAN and MobileData were grey (deactivated). Sometimes, there were arrows blinking beside the mobile-data-button as if up-/downloading. After that i tried calling someone and it did work, too.
How is this possible? How can i get back my airplane mode?
I found a way to deactivate MobileData by going to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and deactivating "Mobile Radio Power" in the "Phone Information" tab, i'm not sure if it should be activated by default, but it is on my phone. If i deactivate this option MobileData gets deactivated, but it stays deactivated even when i activate MobileData in the QuickSettings.
I run LineageOS 18.1 (Android11) 2021-03-21
I have Tasker installed and tried to get it to be able to change to airplane mode and back, but i wasn't able to make it work yet.
So... Any Ideas? Help is much appreciated.
Kind regards,

Try the "SystemUI Tuner" application from the "Zachary Wander" developer on google play.
Just yesterday I took it off for the first time and noticed the option to control the airplane mode. It was an option whether to turn off the sim card or not in airplane mode.
