Lockscreen Notifications - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can someone with the phone please tell me if lockscreen notifications expandable?

It does. Sometimes I have to swipe up briefly in order to get the quick settings to shift before I can expand on the notification.

I can confirm it does, however it does not expand when pulled from the notification shade when unlocked.

Thanks for the replies. So on the lockscreen do you swipe the notification down to expand it? The same way as notifications on pure lollipop?

Yes

Yes, you can expand notifications when you need a PIN.

Wanted to bump this up...I'm only getting 2 notifications on my stock swipe lockscreen...is there a way to display more without having to swipe down to expand?

I don't think so. Most lollipop phones I've used show 2 by default and the rest collapsed into one notification.

4.0 Lockscreen redundancy

So I was wondering what everyone with ICS is doing about the redundant camera slider shortcut? Since we can quick start it by just keypress.
Anybody change it up? I've been looking at widget locker, but that's money out of my pocket.

Apparently is an ICS thing, not particular to the Ion software. I've searched around, and couldn't find a way to change it back to how GB used to be, with the mute option. But if you hold down the power button, even in the lock screen, you´ll get the option to toggle vibrate and mute, besides powering down the device.
I guess as soon as we can decompile and recompile the framework-res and be able to install it on the ion without force closing we can change the behavior of the lock screen shortcut.
In addition to that, I have noticed that, I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but the notification bar can still be pulled down in the lockscreen. I use notification toggles, so it is easy to pull that down and do any configuration without actually unlocking the phone.
On that note, not meaning to thread jack, but is it normal to be able to pull down the notification bar from the lockscreen?

In ICS, I'm pretty sure that is standard operating procedure.

Unless you have a lock of some sort set, in which case you should not be able to pull it down.

Why pull down of status bar in lock screen possible?

Hello,
I was a bit surprised when I found out that I can pull down my status bar while my s4 mini is locked - on my old s3 it was not possible.
It seems to me that it doesn't match the use of a lockscreen...
Can I anyhow deactivate this?
Thanks!

If you use a password/pin/pattern lock, that should disable the pull down.

Just tried - yes, that works... thanks! But can you tell me why it is possible if I don't use it?
Its always possible if you don't have a secure lock screen. It's been like that on my previous Galaxy S phones including the S3. I think its just so you can view any notifications without the need to unlock the device that's all.

Well... I think it a design decision by Google... No secure lock = access to your phone anyways = why bother, let have pull down menu enabled....
I also wish there was a feature to disabling it with insecure lockscreen...
AFAIK, This has been a feature of Android starting from Ice Cream Sandwich. If you don't have a secure lockscreen, then the statusbar can be pulled down in the lockscreen
If you'd rather not have a lock pin then you can use a 3rd party lock screen app like widgetlocker. I use it with its roothelper feature to disable the notification curtain when locked.
Now if only Kevin would add this feature to Nova Launcher so my kids couldn't change any of my settings! Come on Kevin!

Weird. There is a way, yes, to disable it. Even to select how much info it shows up.
But I can't find it anymore, somehow.

Oh yes, it's in Sound.
Talk about awkward placement.
Also, weird. I've got three options: Show all notifications, hide only confidential and hide all
Lucky you

Actually I found a new problem. Disabling the lockscreen notifications also removes them from the status bar, I don't want this. Can it be fixed so that they are in the status bar but don't pop up on the screen when locked?

Exactly! It seems it's all or nothing now. You either get them on the lockscreen and status bar or not at all. The more and more I use Lollipop, the more and more I dislike it. This is yet another reason. Seriously thinking of going back to KK, Xposed and GravityBox.
how to get this lock screen working on G3 20A? the current one just shows 2 notifications and everything else is just a icon.

i think you can't.... LG ruined lollipop with his crap
Think I am having similar issue. I used Heads Up application for notifications (which is good) however since 5.0 heads up still works, but on my pull down screen I also see a similar notification .. that although I have dismissed with heads up, the lollipop notification still exists. I have done hide notifications, but it still seems to be there
Am I just being thick?

Best lockscreen replacement?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a rather particular lockscreen that I just can't seem to find. I'm wondering if anyone on here could help me find a good one. Features I'm looking for:
-some form of security (PIN or pattern)
-SMS notifications at the LEAST (compatible with third party texting apps like Textra). I would prefer to have all notifications available on my lockscreen, but I can live with just SMS.
-Integrated music controls
-Custom screen timeout time
-Elegant looking
So far the closest I've found was ACDisplay, but there's a couple of things I don't like about it. Firstly, having to click a notification to view it defeats its purpose. I want to be able to glance at my phone to see who texted me without having to touch it. Also, every so often I'll get the "swipe down to exit full-screen mode notification." Snaplock came close, but the music integration is sub-par and there lacks custom screen timeout. Anyone have ideas?
try "My Locker"..............................limit is your imagination only

I guess you are on kitkat or below, as the G3's Lollipop lockscreen does feature notifications! As well as optional security (pin, knock code, facial recognition) and looks quite minimalistic. So if you're not on Android L yet, you coukd give it a shot otherwise I recommend the same locker as stated in the previous comment:good:
I don't agree. LG's 5.0 lockscreen is terrible. Notifications might display, but you can't open them when you tap on lockscreen like you do on stock android, but you have to unlock the screen, pushdown notification tray and then click notification (wtf LG?). The second killer of LG's 5.0 lockscreen is that when you put swipe to unlock, sometimes it fails to unlock. Even though I swipe, the screen stays locked and you have to swipe again to unlock. That happens to me in 20% of unlocking screen so I removed lockscreen altogether and now found third party lockscreen which isn't much better, but at least it unlocks when I swipe it.

About notifications....
Actually, coming from Nexus 4 with Lollpop, I was dissapointed to see my new LG G3 having trouble with notifications:
Lockscreen always show notifications, BUT swiping left or right doesn't open the corresponding app (ex. dialer for unanswered calls), NEITHER double clicking on the notification does... INSTEAD I have to click one time the notification and after that swipe the lower part of the lockscreen to unlock and go to the corresponding app... It just feels akward to me... Any solutions?
And something else: sometimes when i swipe down the notification bar, i can see the app name and instead of the message i see: hiden content!!! But this is not all the times... Do you believe i have something wrong on the settings?
Thanks in advance...

Unlocking the phone, right after tapping a notification opens that notification for me. Seems a little odd but I've gotten used to it.
Not using any PIN/Knock/Pattern.

Expanded notifications in drop-down shade

I have heard about this bug on many LG phones updated to 5.0+, and I can't for the life of me figure out why LG hasn't fixed this yet. It wasn't until recently that I was able to figure out a "fix" to expand notifications in the pull-down shade. If this was already posted, I apologize but I never saw anything about it.
When you pull down your notification shade, you can't expand notifications. However if you slide up on the quick toggles to make them disappear but your notifications stay, you can now pull down on the notifications to expand them! This worked on my Verizon G4, let me know if it works on other models as well.
Not broken or a bug, just poorly implemented. The problem is the quick settings expand automatically. Even in stock Android, you can't expand notifications when the quick settings are expanded so you have to hide them first.

is there a way to stop this? it's very annoying. I'm rooted and have xposed, it should be possible right?
I imagine that it's theoretically possible assuming a developer takes the time to code the appropriate mod.
