Hey guys, I'm looking for a rather particular lockscreen that I just can't seem to find. I'm wondering if anyone on here could help me find a good one. Features I'm looking for:
-some form of security (PIN or pattern)
-SMS notifications at the LEAST (compatible with third party texting apps like Textra). I would prefer to have all notifications available on my lockscreen, but I can live with just SMS.
-Integrated music controls
-Custom screen timeout time
-Elegant looking
So far the closest I've found was ACDisplay, but there's a couple of things I don't like about it. Firstly, having to click a notification to view it defeats its purpose. I want to be able to glance at my phone to see who texted me without having to touch it. Also, every so often I'll get the "swipe down to exit full-screen mode notification." Snaplock came close, but the music integration is sub-par and there lacks custom screen timeout. Anyone have ideas?
try "My Locker"..............................limit is your imagination only

I guess you are on kitkat or below, as the G3's Lollipop lockscreen does feature notifications! As well as optional security (pin, knock code, facial recognition) and looks quite minimalistic. So if you're not on Android L yet, you coukd give it a shot otherwise I recommend the same locker as stated in the previous comment:good:
I don't agree. LG's 5.0 lockscreen is terrible. Notifications might display, but you can't open them when you tap on lockscreen like you do on stock android, but you have to unlock the screen, pushdown notification tray and then click notification (wtf LG?). The second killer of LG's 5.0 lockscreen is that when you put swipe to unlock, sometimes it fails to unlock. Even though I swipe, the screen stays locked and you have to swipe again to unlock. That happens to me in 20% of unlocking screen so I removed lockscreen altogether and now found third party lockscreen which isn't much better, but at least it unlocks when I swipe it.

About notifications....
Actually, coming from Nexus 4 with Lollpop, I was dissapointed to see my new LG G3 having trouble with notifications:
Lockscreen always show notifications, BUT swiping left or right doesn't open the corresponding app (ex. dialer for unanswered calls), NEITHER double clicking on the notification does... INSTEAD I have to click one time the notification and after that swipe the lower part of the lockscreen to unlock and go to the corresponding app... It just feels akward to me... Any solutions?
And something else: sometimes when i swipe down the notification bar, i can see the app name and instead of the message i see: hiden content!!! But this is not all the times... Do you believe i have something wrong on the settings?
Thanks in advance...

Unlocking the phone, right after tapping a notification opens that notification for me. Seems a little odd but I've gotten used to it.
Not using any PIN/Knock/Pattern.

Its silly they didn't add this. I know you can use the notification bar within the lockscreen if there is no security but I want the security. Yes I know I can get PowerAMP/PlayerPro and use the app/ICS lockscreen but want to avoid that?
I know you said you want to avoid it but I bought PowerAmp and it's so much better than the stock player it's well worth getting even without the lock screen control it gives you. Just my two cents - sorry I can't offer any help with the stock player.
Security
I have noticed that my spotify music control only comes on when i have a pattern enabled in security.
I would say Widget locker, and some widgets.

no ruins the swipe lock then and all its features. I was actually looking for a way to get the controls on the swipe lock. It so dam annoying :crying:. Samsung always messes up the lockscreen on all there devices.
My first Galaxy S and SII both had music control on the lock screen but when you enabled security you would then loose "swipe lockscreen" and just be prompted with the security screen. With the S3 since they added the swipe lockscreen on top of the security screen I was hoping for native music controls but they messed up again. Seems like the reason is because the notification bar can be accessed from the swipe lockscreen so no need to clutter the lockcreen but of course it does not work when you enable security.
PowerAmp is actually not bad and the ICS lockscreen works well its still annoying you have to get to the ICS security lockscreen before a track can be changed, main reason i wanted it on the swipe screen was while driving in a car.
This is a major feature for me and was actually the sole reason why i returned the S2 for the hTC Raider and kinda hoped they sorted it out by now.
Try "Notification Toggle" since ICS and JB let you use the pull down even when locked (not sure about that if there is a lock code/pattern. but its quick and works pretty well.
i just have the FF/REW/Pause-Play .. works great!
this?
You can pull the notification bar down by default anyways if you don't have security. The point here is to pull down with security.
My music controls work as long as I use pattern or face unlock.
seems you are using google music am i correct?
Also stock ROM?
Yep

Is it possible to add 3rd party widgets to the lockscreen? I can use only the stock..

I believe they need to be updated to add support for the lockscreen, so at the moment you can only use the stock widgets. Give it a week or two and there should be some more to add.

There is an API for it.
I have read that third party widgets will be supported so we should see some interesting things come out.
For me though the whole lockscreen feels half baked at the minute, here's why
- too many varying inputs / start points.
- swiping the large space above the lock does nothing (why not let this reach the side panels?)
- swiping the clock sideways does nothing, tapping it emphasises the lock box?!
- the close keyboard arrow is shown if the keyboard was open when the screen was locked.
- the woeful clock font.
- and of course the lack of security.
I will undoubtedly be abused for not loving AOSP here but I honestly think this implementation could be way better. Imagine a new user coming to this lockscreen, a lot of "average users" will be completely unaware of the features and end up lost and confused by accidental activation of the emphasis boxes.

That's because if you enter your lock pattern after tapping the clock, it will go to the clock app.

Right, I see...so that rather goes back to my first point on the list of there being too many inputs.
To go directly to the clock app we can now swipe the clock down to expand it, then press on it OR press the clock to highlight the unlock box, then swipe to unlock.
It's all rather muddled which is a shame because the added widgets are potentially very useful.

Well it makes great sense to be able to do it whichever way you like it best, and as for these points:
- swiping the large space above the lock does nothing (why not let this reach the side panels?)
- swiping the clock sideways does nothing, tapping it emphasises the lock box?!
It's simply because it's still a LOCK screen, and fixing these 2 would defeat the purpose of it hindering unwanted touches in you pocket...
I agree on most of the last points you make.
Not yet, but i hope pandora adds one, thatll be awesome
Hd widgets is the only one I've noticed so far
Falcon(a really nice twitter widget) has added support for lockscreen widgets according to the dev.
I have been using lock screen widgets since Froyo , Android 2.2, for the Executive Assistant app. This leads me to believe that lock screen widgets have always been a possibility, but app devs have not made use of them.

Has anyone had any success with lockscreen apps, particularly those which allow customisation of notifications.
I've long been a fan of notific and acdisplay on my nexus 5, but on this phone there are a mix of problems. Some or all of these happen:
music player controls aren't available on the lockscreen (rdio/tunein radio/poweramp/ etc.)
the custom notifications don't appear
the alarm doesn't appear on the lockscreen (gentle alarm)
Or is this just the way LG has customised the OS? It's also mildly infuriating that you can't double-tap to open a notification (you need to either expand it first or swipe separately)
Interesting no one has commented about this since.
I find it mildly annoying after getting accustomed on the z3 and n6, double tapping a notification from the lock screen to open it. The g4 doesn't and it requires yo u to swipe unlock.
Unless there is a setting or another method I'm missing?
Hi! I just got my new LG G4 a few days ago, and I would like to know if there is an easy way to get weather information (preferably via widget) in the lockscreen of Android 6.0. My phone is not rooted, and at this moment I do not intend to do so, either.
I know this can be achieved with alternative lock screens, but as far as I know, those lock screens do not allow me to use the camera in a safe session while the phone remains locked, and this feature is a must for me. So, if anyone knows of a replacement lockscreen that allows this, then please let me know.
Thanks!
No one knows?
Well, you can always use Google now to find that info. Just say "Ok google, what's the weather like today?" (need to have google now installed and voice trigger activated)
The LG G4's lock screen itself has the animations of weather when there is high intensity of rain, fog or storm out there. That's really an awesome feature.
If you still want to see exact numbers on your lock screen, you can get any app that puts the info on your notification bar. Naturally, the notification appears on lock screen on g4 so from there you can get it....
Hope it helps

Thanks a lot! I can't get the weather animation on the lock screen. Does it only appear with a particular lock method (swipe, PIN, etc.)? Or with a particular swipe effect?
As for an app that puts the info on the notification bar, wouldn't that make the notification light blink constantly? Also, wouldn't that prevent the phone from sleeping and thus consume much more battery?

Hey,
So many questions at once! Will answer one by one
You will get the weather animation when the weather is intense, like its raining out there or fog is there. Not for the general temperatures, but for the unusual ones.
The option can be enabled in Settings > Lock Screen > Weather Animations.
For the App that puts info on notification Bar, you have the option to disable notification light for a particular app. You can disable the notification light for the weather app, however some would prefer that light keep blinking 24x7
No, notifications do not prevent phone from sleeping. Understand it this way: when you get messages on any app, say whatsapp or facebook messenger, you get notifications. But does that prevent phone from sleeping or consumes extra battery? no. Similarly, this app will just be getting hourly updates from server just like you getting messages on whatsapp. So Standby mode won't be affected.

I do not have that setting I have not done much to the phone since I got it. I updated it to 6.0, and I am using Lightning Launcher instead of the LG one. Could any of those things prevent me from seeing that option in settings?

Ok, I understand. Though, I see that my lockscreen has space for 2 notifications at a time, so I guess that if I receive an sms and I have a calendar event, the weather notification will be hidden, right? Oh, well, at least it is better than not having the notification at all.

Well Mate, I completely understand your situation.
Unfortunately, unlocking G4 isn't possible and at MM, rooting is not possible too (as of now).
Else I am sure custom roms can provide you all that you want with minimal effort.

And yes, you need to use LG launcher along with weather app from LG.
Anyways, LG launcher is quite stable and once you customize it with your preferences, its actually better than any other launcher out there. It allows you to switch off screen on double tap, the folders are quite good and customization, you can uninstall apps directly from drawer...in short its a good launcher.
I myself preferred Google now launcher earlier before having G4 but G4's launcher is really good.
I have an old app called Weatherbug Elite. It has the option of keeping live weather info in the notification bar. With it turned on the temperature is always displayed and when you slide open the notification bar there is a panel of weather info. This same panel shows on the lock screen via notifications. It does not keep the phone awake or blink the light. If there are several notifications it compresses on the lock screen them and you can expand them with a slide.
This app is no longer available, I got it as a free app of the day from Amazon a long time ago. There must be other apps that do the same thing though.

Thanks for the info! I'll try to track it down. Still, I do not understand why Google nerfed the lockscreen so much in the last versions of Android.
With Android 12, Google brought back the lock screen shortcuts on Pixels, but they're not very useful for me: the device controls and your mobile wallet. You have to unlock your phone anyway before using either, and I have quick settings to use once unlocked, so lockscreen shortcuts don't really do anything for me.
Is there any way to change those shortcuts? Presumably with adb or something. I'd rather have the old camera and assistant shortcuts.
Pixel 6P, not rooted, full stock, all software up to date.
I don't really get it: you can always disable those two shortcuts on the lock screen setting if you don't really like them; and for the two which you are looking for, Google implemented them in gesture with the power button: one long click for Google Assistant and double quick clicks for the camera.
And if you are rooted, @Typhus_ 's Add_On magisk module has a feature to put the camera short cut on the lock screen.
I don't want them disabled, I like having something there. I just want something else.
