Hello,
I was a bit surprised when I found out that I can pull down my status bar while my s4 mini is locked - on my old s3 it was not possible.
It seems to me that it doesn't match the use of a lockscreen...
Can I anyhow deactivate this?
Thanks!

If you use a password/pin/pattern lock, that should disable the pull down.

Just tried - yes, that works... thanks! But can you tell me why it is possible if I don't use it?
Its always possible if you don't have a secure lock screen. It's been like that on my previous Galaxy S phones including the S3. I think its just so you can view any notifications without the need to unlock the device that's all.

Well... I think it a design decision by Google... No secure lock = access to your phone anyways = why bother, let have pull down menu enabled....
I also wish there was a feature to disabling it with insecure lockscreen...
AFAIK, This has been a feature of Android starting from Ice Cream Sandwich. If you don't have a secure lockscreen, then the statusbar can be pulled down in the lockscreen
If you'd rather not have a lock pin then you can use a 3rd party lock screen app like widgetlocker. I use it with its roothelper feature to disable the notification curtain when locked.
Now if only Kevin would add this feature to Nova Launcher so my kids couldn't change any of my settings! Come on Kevin!

Is there anyway to change this, to a slide bar or something?
Just come from a HD2 running stock desire rom and the current SGS2 one seems a bit...naff in comparison.
Try widgetlocker. Slide to unlock plus slide to any app

WidgetLocket works perfectly and when activated stops the default locker from appearing.

Adding the stock lockscreen is very complicated, requires editing of the framework.jar and android-services.jar aswell as framework res.
I will begin work on it once we have fully functional deodexed rom

Do you think you will be able to do it? Really don't like using bolt on lock screens like widgetlocker.
Depends how similar to the origional sgs the java files are. That's the complicated bit. Waiting on cwm for backups and deodexed rom, then work will begin

If you haven't given widget locker a go yet I would try it.
It's even better if you've rooted and increased your lcd density somewhat (192 seems good to me). I love being able to unlock straight to SMS, Email & camera, while being able to use torch mode without unlocking too... etc.
The old lock screen is still on in the background. Sometimes it flashes up when I unlock. Is it a bad idea to disable through Widget Locker?
I love widget locker, but I'm finding it a pain - my home button first start bypassing it, then when I figured that fix out, hold it down still activates the task manager grr
WidgetLocker is great - I've been using it for about a year but only found out the other day that you can get custom themes for the sliders, and because they're mostly just zipped up image files it was relatively easy to customise.

This is the 5 second problem. It's discussed in the Widget Locker documentation (and in the settings menus too).
If you root your phone you can get rid of it once and for all. Otherwise Homehelper is supposed to maybe help, but I never managed to completely get rid of the system lock screen till I rooted as you can't override the 5 second thing.

Okay. Planning on rooting my advice so may try that. Cheers. What is home helper? Do you mean root helper?
Widgetlocker on my O2 branded unrooted SG2 worked perfectly. However, now I have rooted it and flashed the unbranded firmware the home button overrides it meaning just pressing the home button twice unlocks the phone.
Anyone else with this issue? I have checked to make sure the option to allow the home button to unlock is unticked.
Edit - Ignore me, forgot the Homehelper needed to be set as default.

DO you think it would be possible to add Cyanogen's unlock screen (with rotary unlock and stuff) or would that be even harder ?
I would love to see the AOSP lock screen pop up on the SGS2.
my vote is the puzzle unlock from some sgs models.

That one is built into Widget Locker if you don't mind using that. Given the power and battery life on the phone I'm quite happy to do that. Although my resource reporting apps show Widget Locker as quite a hog.
I hate the Widget locker icon in the notification area. It makes me sad.
Hi I love the new "slide" lock screen. I love sliding the round "thingy" to unlock the screen or to get to the camera. I used to use the locker widget on my sgs2 but I want to stick to stock android as much as possible and getting rid of all those "addons" is a joy ;-) now the only thing that bothers me is that I can't lock my lock screen with the "slide" lock screen and put a pin in case I loose my galaxy nexus...(I know that sound cheesy) Can someone give me a hint? I do not want to use an extra plugin for this simple feature to work...
Cheers,
Silentbob

If you use an app like WidgetLocker you can set it up so that widget locker is your main lockscreen and you can make it look exactly like the stock lockscreen. Then if you enable pin unlock you can make it request for a pin after you unlock with widgetlocker

I'm confused here. Blur did this on my DX and it drove me crazy because no functionality from the slide lock screen other than vibrate adjustment. Does the OP want to have the slide lock on top so that it's possible to use the slide lock features on ICS? I would imagine with that a pin lock below, those features would still require pin lock entry. Perhaps I'm confused with the work flow that the OP wants.

Its dumb to have to slide to unlock only to get to the code screen.

Thank u for the time you have taken to write this help full comment.
Hi to all and thanks for your feedback. I think there is some need to better explain the reason I would like to use the swipe to unlock feature and at the same time have a pin lock.
I need a quick way to access to my camera app from the lock screen. I take a ton of images this way and I love the feature of the iPhone where you can take images from the lock screen very quickly but u need a pin to enter to the springboard. I hoped that this would be possible with stock android. As I asked in my first post I don't want to install the Lockscreenwidget. It has way to many options and some times it does not work. So now I hope that my intent is better understandable.
Thank you very much

I figured that's what you meant. Yeah, it would be a nice feature if you snap a photo or adjust the volume without entering the homescreen. Alas, to my knowledge, that functionality doesn't exist with a PIN. It's the app market for you my friend, and maybe Seekdroid in case you lose your phone and want to wipe it (assuming you are paranoid about security).

So I was wondering what everyone with ICS is doing about the redundant camera slider shortcut? Since we can quick start it by just keypress.
Anybody change it up? I've been looking at widget locker, but that's money out of my pocket.

Apparently is an ICS thing, not particular to the Ion software. I've searched around, and couldn't find a way to change it back to how GB used to be, with the mute option. But if you hold down the power button, even in the lock screen, you´ll get the option to toggle vibrate and mute, besides powering down the device.
I guess as soon as we can decompile and recompile the framework-res and be able to install it on the ion without force closing we can change the behavior of the lock screen shortcut.
In addition to that, I have noticed that, I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but the notification bar can still be pulled down in the lockscreen. I use notification toggles, so it is easy to pull that down and do any configuration without actually unlocking the phone.
On that note, not meaning to thread jack, but is it normal to be able to pull down the notification bar from the lockscreen?

In ICS, I'm pretty sure that is standard operating procedure.

Unless you have a lock of some sort set, in which case you should not be able to pull it down.

Does anyone know of any way to either change the default lock screen clock / weather items? Or remove it completely?
I tried Holo Locker but it does not seem to work.
I don't want to disable my lock screen completely, just have it as close to the stock Google as possible. I hate the Sense weather that comes with the One. I understand I can add something like DashClock but I am not able to set it as the default lock screen.
Any help is appreciated.
No possible to put any other lockscreen on than the ****ty default one. You can of course add the lockscreens you actually do want to the "right" of the default one but this is incredibly dumb to force us on their ****ty lock screen.
I want dashclock and can't get it to be the default.
I agree. Well, thanks for the response. I wish we could change it.

Sad that they restrict the basic functionality that almost any phone on the market right now can do just to force this on us. What a shame.

Hi
I use nova launcher prime and am used to a shortcut on my screen to quickly lock the screen instead of using the hardware button to lock the screen. However since I have moved over to p2.. After I press the lock screen shortcut from nova the screen for goes black but the screen isn't locked... It is not till 10 secs later when the screen actually locks
I hate this feature as it stops me from putting the phone into my pocket instantly after locking. How to fix this? I have set up power button to instantly lock the phone after sleep.
It's not P2s problem it's Android's security feature. You'll need root access to instantly lock screen
But from quicktiles there is an icon to do it

Thanks yes i came across that as well... However it is really a total failure on Android part to not have anything built in to allow people to instantly lock... Isn't there any way to put a shortcut to the system icon on my desktop? In stock launcher or otherwise?
Unfortunately looks like Android is going the way of Apple with these silly restrictions becoming more n more common
Well it's a security feature which means they've probably found something wrong with putting a quick lock from 3rd party apps.
