Stock::Custom Recovery - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted. I have downloaded a recovery. I have tried some apps to flash and without success. I have booted into recovery to manually flash and I have gotten a signature verification error the two times I chose from the external SD card. Anyone possibly have an idea on a way to proceed. Oh, I am without access to a computer. If there is a way to go ahead without one, please share. If I need a computer to continue, please share. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

have you flash your recovery and what recovery did you use?

It always seems to get a partition wrong when using flashify or a twrp app. Dp you suggest using odin?

[Q] Bricked?

Hi
After rooting, I managed to wipe dalvik cache and internal. I'm trying to install stock rom from TWRP, but it always says that its unable to open .zip file. When connecting to USB the MTP USB driver fails (I've tried all the attempts with in getting in into download mode, but with no luck). I've got TWRP 2.3.2.3. Any ideas or ROM's which I can boot with here is my device bricked?

Try to install another rom or check the drivers at your computer(By uninstalling them at device manager), connect it to another pc and see if that works. Aslong as your phone can boot into download there shouldn't be anything to be worried about. You could also try to download philz recovery. Either by flashing it, if you manage to get download mode working, or trying that zip to be installed in TWRP.

I don't like TWRP at all as it has brought me bad expiriences. I'd rather choose Philz recovery, which is just the stock way of installing them zips .
Hope you can get further by these instructions, Good luck. If you got any questions; instead of finding them out yourself, just ask

Thanks for the reply! philz did get installed with TWRP and worked after next reboot. But I'm still getting the same message when I try "Install zip" and select the below roms. You know any rom which work for sure? It says Cant open <ROM-Filepath> (bad) on both. The zipfiles are openable through windows
N7100XXDMC3_N7100OXXDMC2_NEE (Stock N7100 for nordic countries)

Hmm, very strange. Are you installing from a sdcard? Maybe it is corrupted so it doesn't install. You could try placing the zip file into your internal storage and then try to install it from here.

It was actually my usb2microSD which was faulty. It was messing up all the files it was writing and the funny thing was that windows7 reported all file copies as success. Anyhow, its fixed once I got the .,zip files copied correctly. That was the only way too (through sd load) ODIN coul'd make a connection. Thx for all the help!

[Q] (Q) accidentally wiped OS ,Need help getting OS back on sgh-i747

To start I bought this phone from a friend was working fine. It seemed to be rooted after going to recovery mode and realizing it was a custom recovery that I got into. I've had plenty on iPhones and androids , so far this is the first time after hours of research and trying everything that I've had to make a post asking for help. I have a sgh-i747 pebble blue ATT phone. It had 4.3 OS on it and was rooted before I acidentally wiped the OS off of it. I've tried the past few days to use Odin to get the stock firmware back on, I've tried 4.0.1 - 4.3 , no luck. Odin recognizes phone after I click start after choosing the md5 tar file it either says fail or stays at setupconnection. I've tried many times over and over unistalling and re installing drivers , kies, and downloading different firmware and every version of Odin. I need help guys please , thanks alot

Since your phone was on 4.3, the only thing you can do now would be a stock restore to 4.3. Please see the thread below for the stock restore zip as well as instructions. You may use another device to copy the stock restore zip to an external SD card and then place this card in your phone, then flash from (custom) recovery. Odin cant help you now except to flash custom recovery if you need to redo this.

Good you have TWRP already. You can try to see if you can save the zip to your phone's internal memory as the PC may be able to recognize it in download or recovery mode. Otherwise, you may try using any other device at all that accepts (micro) SDHC card e.g. camera, card adapter etc. You may also be able to flash the zip directly from your PC using the desktop flasher. See thread with instructions below ...

Glad to know your phone is now working fine. To root or not is a choice you'll have to make depending on how much control you want over your phone. The pros are that you literally have control over your phone in terms of installing apps or making modifications to the operating system. You can install custom ROMs and/or apps that you would otherwise not be able to install. The con, of course, is security and integrity of your phone. There is always a risk that you may end up bricking your phone or creating access for malware. Rooting should, therefore, be something you do only if you have need for it.
... Just Odin stock ROM and work from there or if twrp isn't latest... Odin latest recovery and then USB files into phone using recovery and then flash... Or again just use odin to flash and then do whatever you want afterward

can't get into twrp after flashing paranoid rom

I flashed paranoid ROM and gapps but after rebooting gapps failed to flash and now I have no way of getting into twrp to restore my backup. Tried using lg flashtool DLL and tot but get messagage saying lg USB port locked. I'm at a total loss as what to do. I've checked SD card from computer and twrp is still there along with my backed up restore. How can I get to it or how do I fix this issue with no way of getting into google apps? Did you manually try getting into twrp? Power off the phone, hold vol down + power at the same time until recovery screen pops up, choose factory reset option, select yes, and twrp should appear.
This is how it works on vs985...not sure on your model if it's different or not.
have tried that as well.
I've tried the factory reset and it boots into twrp for a quick second and then reboots back into the paranoid ROM. I've tried hitting the back button to stop the process in twrp so I can restore the backup but it will not let. I found a download for flashify that wasn't on google play and when I installed it I get the message that I do not have root/SuperSU which I'm pretty sure is because I'm a moron and don't have gapps installed. I know all the things I need to restore my phone are on SD card because they show up when plugged into my laptop I just can't get to it! I've also downloaded SDK studio to try opening a cmd recovery reboot but I can't find where in that huge studio where I can open a command prompt to give it a shot. Is there a smaller SDK I can download without having to get the whole studio? Thanks again to everyone who has any advice to give.

of course you can. flashify available on play store. If you are already rooted then you can install flasify app. and reboor to recovery mode. But I recommend a clean flash of stock kdz or tot then root install recovery amd reflash your favourite rom.
I don't have playstore. I have no gapps package
Use ADB Command from your computer.

hello
Initially the phone was on 5.1.1 and rooted. I put TWRP on and it stopped at sprint spark screen. I pulled the battery then it wouldn't stop bootlooping. I went into TWRP and cleared cache, still looping, then i cleared dalvic cache, still looping. I tried to restore back to my backup, still bootlooping, then I did a factory reset, still bootlooping. Then I wiped everything and tried to flash a factory rom with TWRP but it will not read from a sd card I inserted and ODIN will not recognize it.
Is there anything I can do to recover this disaster? Thanks for any help.

Have you install the usb Samsung drivers on your computer?
Sent from my SM-N910P using JellyBombed Tapatalk 2
Possible explanation is that you rooted with Chainfire Auto Root then installed TWRP which promptly told you it didn't detect root and asked you allow TWRP to install SuperSU.
If that happened, it most likely happened again when you restored the backup. If that's happening, is the TWRP backup the rooted ROM that you just applied before TWRP? If both are true, try the backup again but don't allow TWRP to install SuperSU.
When restoring a backup to TWRP, it has to follow a directory to path similar to this using your recognized serial number:
/storage/extSdCard/TWRP/BACKUPS/117bdxxx/(specific-individual backup folder) but your TWRP folder can also be in internal memory.
If none of the above applies, reply with method used to root and which ROM or kernel and SuperSU you used to root.
Being that you applied TWRP after root, I'm guessing you rooted with CFAR which uses systemless root and TWRP currently doesn't detect it and thinks you're not rooted but following the prompt will mess it up. Chainfire says not to allow TWRP to install SuperSU if that applies... it's the option closer to center of TWRP recovery, not the bottom one.

That's exactly what happened. I rooted with something else, which showed SuperSU. But after I installed TWRP, I made a backup with TWRP of the stock rom that I rooted with Chainfire. TWRP said I wasn't rooted, so I clicked to root. That's when the problems started now that I'm thinking about it.

You can flash a rooted ROM or flash the stock tar in Odin and root again.
Depends on your goal. With what you had, it appears your goal was staying mostly stock and possibly retaining OTA update capability with full un-root. Is that your goal? If so, you need to Odin OK1 stock which brings you back to ghost's question: can you Odin a stock tar?

At the top of the TWRP directory, you can scroll up and tap the top selection to to move up to upper directory like root. You're looking for ext_sdcard I believe. That should be where the ROM is unless you put the ROM in sub directory like download. Can you find it?

If you have your PC USB driver installed, boot into recovery, connect USB to PC, goto mounts on TWRP and enable MTP. Then you should see phone and card folders to move your ROM to.
If you use phone folder, don't wipe internal memory before flashing ROM.

I believe that's checking for md5 hash in zip which most likely isn't there. You should check md5 with a md5 checker on your PC, most likely not TWRP. None of the ROM zips I'm aware of have the md5 included in the zip.
I believe you should uncheck that option in TWRP. Let it check checksum in for backup restore only.
BTW, I checked recovery for USB MTP on my PC. If I go toggling buttons like mount system and enable MTP and disable MTP, it eventually appears on PC USB devices. It's just slow to pop-up. Give it time. The toggle will display as disable MTP; that is the enabled indication.

I tried to unroot my Honor 7X and failed

Hi,
So this morning I decided to root my phone (BND-L21)
I did it! But I realise I couldn't use Snapchat since being rooted didn't allow me. After going through various methods, I gave up and was left with the only guaranteed method, which was to unroot my phone.
I got stuck in a bootloop after pressing the unroot button in SuperSU.
I can access TWRP mode, Recovery mode, and the Rescue mode or something.
The Recovery mode which used wifi to reset my phone by installing a fresh rom had failed..
The rescue mode i have no idea what to do with (neither do I have any idea about ADB to help me out here)
In TWRP mode, i wiped everything and formatted data, hoping something would happen because nothing else did.
Everything I tried to do, I would just end up back in the booting screen with "Your device is.....booting...."
On my PC, it recognises my honor 7x in RECOVERY if I type in adb devices.
I'm believe I'm almost at a critical stage of turning my phone into a brick.
I tried downloading stock rom and installing it from TWRP mode but it came up with "UPDATER PROCESS ENDED WITH ERROR: 9"
Please help. I can't afford another one, nor do I have a backup phone. It says I have no current ROM if I intend to reboot my phone.

formating in twrp was not a good idea. These huawei phones have "other" files that system needs stored on /data. The stock recovery skips these files when doing a reset, twrp does not.
you should probably flash fullOTA to get back to working stock now.
try to follow this guide.

Um, the situation changed quite drastically.
I can't access TWRP anymore and when I plugged my phone in to my computer it detects it as a disk drive...
Can I still flash stock rom using sd card or anything else?
(Also, i sent it to a repair shop today and they'll get back to me tomorrow.)

Oh ok. Will this method work even if I don't have any OS installed on my phone?
Also, are the 3 files you mentioned in your post refer to the ones within the filelist of Firmware Finder?
