I was wondering what options there are available to update my F400S from 10T to v5.0 or v5.1 of Android?
I don't want to root my handset as this will prevent my banking app from working. It would be nice to be able to get rid of the Bloatware although I appreciate this probably isn't possible without root.
I also thought I saw something a while ago about flashing the F400S with the Rom / Radio from another F400 device to provide more access to other LTE bands. Does anyone know the latest on this as well please?
There seems to be limited information for the F400S and I'm starting to wonder if I should sell it for something else which would be a shame as I'm still exceptionally pleased with it overall.
Bump.

Dear all,
Its really embarrassing but i have to admit that i have no idea about anything related to rooting or updating phone through flash files etc.
I have just purchased LG optimus G Pro online which is Korean version F240K (Olleh carrier) the phone is till in transit however i am not sure how can i update the phone. Since its unlocked and i am from India i don't know if OTA can be possible. I was told by seller that i can root the phone. But i don't really know what is rooting how its works and how its done. After rooting what has to be done etc i have no idea as i have never done this. I do know that if i do something wrong in rooting or flashing( these terms i have just heard from some people and on Google) my phone can be dead and cant be recovered.
I may be asking too much here but can anyone here help me specifically to update this device and help me to use all that is required?? I will be highly grateful if that can be done please.
Also can anyone tell me if there is FAKE LG g pro available in markets?? Cos i heard there are clones available in Korean markets for phones like Samsung hence i want to be sure about this

Hi, I have about a week old LG G3. Now, I like the phone's features, but I am thinking I want to try Pure Android to enjoy the hardware even further. I need T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling at the very least. That's very important to my device. I want to enjoy some of the LG features if possible but in an AOSP setting. Is there a specific rom that has Wi-Fi Calling and pure Android at the very least? Can you unvoid your warranty as well if you root the LG G3? Is the bootloader unlocked on the T-Mobile LG G3?

Nope no wifi calling in aosp but theres a good chance android L will support wificalling nativly so cyanogenmod 12 will probably be your choice when it comes out
You can never unvoid you can only cover your tracks and hope they dont realize you voided in the first place
Tmobile g3 is unlock out of the box you dont need to do anything to unlock it.

With my past experiences with tmobile they generally don't care about rooting so long as the device is working fully, they end up either sending it back to LG to get it restored or they do it in the store.
You can however unroot if you really want and nothing would happen.
Hello,
I am trying to root an LG G Pad 2 8.0 (V498) but i cannot find the subforum for it, it doesnt seem to exist...
Does anyone knows where i can find any infos for this model ?
thanks!
its a relatively new model, especially in Canada.
I got one from Fido Wireless, but the sticker says v497; I have the gpad 2 8.0, but with wrong sticker?
anyways, there are plenty of guides to try in the lg g3 forum along side the one click root methods like kingoroot, root genius, and more...
LTE / data units are v495, v496, v497, and the wifi only version g pad II is V498 all sport the same hardware features other than data of course. I've rooted my v495 using the method in the all info v496 thread and it looks like they are making headway in development.
Thank you, Bryan.
that clarifies things for me.
so, do we know whats being worked on? like recoveries, kernels, etc...?
if so, do we know about cross-compatibility for each model?
Hi there will anyone out there be able to direct me to the root method for the Lg G Pad
Rogers version v497 any help would be appreciated

Look here, use at your own risk, I recently bricked my V495 AT&T trying to load TWRP Custom recovery. Rooting was not a problem though.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/help/tmobile-gpad-f-8-0-v496-info-t3139894
Being that there is no v498 sub, I guess I'll side track this thread a little. Someone mentioned here that v495-v498 are all essentially the same hardware. My son cracked the screen on his v498. I found only 1 supplier selling a specific v498 screen, from China, for $90.. I have found plenty of the other models like v495 or v496 for a little cheaper and in the US. I'm wondering if anyone knows if these other LCD/Digitizers should work on the v498? I have it opened up and, I actually see a LG-V495 stamped in the plastic even though the back sticker says V498, so I am assuming the v495/v496 screens should work on this, but just want to verify before I order one.

This is a little late to the game, but here's what worked for me on the wifi-only LG G Pad II 8.0 (v498), and it might help others.
I used Kingroot (4.8.2) to root the tablet, then used Supersume Pro from the Play Store to remove Kingroot and install Supersu. (I'd tried a couple other methods for removing Kingroot first, but they didn't work, and Supersume Pro (v. 9.3.7) nworked really quickly and with zero pain, so that's the method I'd recommend. It does cost a few bucks, but IMO, it was worth it for the ease of use.) It's working perfectly. (Supersume Pro is available at the Play store at: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro -- can't post the link because I'm a new member.)
I've rooted before using clockwork mod, etc., on other devices, but Kingroot does make rooting simpler. If you don't trust Kingroot for rooting, another method might work, but I had trouble finding one specifically for this device.
Cons to using Kingroot (and keeping it):
1. It installs a cleaner app called "Purify" which you may or may not want, and which you have to install to get to the rooting screen. It can be uninstalled separately, though.
2. Kingroot really messed with my Okay Google app. It turns itself on in "Accessibility" mode (or however you might put that correctly), and when turned off from the Accessibility settings, Okay Google will work again. However, Kingroot "insists" on turning itself on in the Accessibility settings, and will keep resetting, overriding your setting. It may also hijack other aspects of the tablet that I didn't notice -- I replaced it with SuperSU shortly after rooting.
3. Many people are nervous about the amount of data sent to the Kingroot servers in China during the rooting process. I'm on the fence about whether it's dangerous or not. I think it potentially is -- regardless of the location or ownership of the servers -- but I have no idea whether it's *actually* dangerous or not. If that aspect worries you, you should try another method to root your tablet. I think I would have been more reluctant to use Kingroot if I had the version of this tablet with the sim card.
4. Kingroot is quite recalcitrant to removal and replacement. Two methods that I used to try to remove Kingroot (without unrooting the device) didn't work -- and even after the program was no longer on the tablet, I could not replace its su with a different binary. I had to reinstall and uninstall using SuperSume. I might have had better results replacing it with SuperSu manually if I'd been more patient, but I didn't want to spend too much time on it.
Pros to using Kingroot:
1. It's fast.
2. It requires little technical skill.
3. It can be removed and replaced with SuperSu (or, presumably, some other superuser manager), though that ranges from very easy (using SuperSume) to extremely difficult (especially if you don't play with rooting a lot -- and people with only one or two Android devices generally root once then forget it till the next time they need to root a new device, and so don't have a huge amount of experience with it).
I hope this helps someone!
I'm going to be receiving my tablet soon and since it's stuck with Android 5.0 I was hoping to find a custom ROM with Android 6 but it turns out there's not even a thread for this device. Does anybody knows of any ROMs for this device? I'm getting mine from Fido and it's also LTE enabled. Rooting is not required for me since I'm not really into customization much but having the latest version of Android is important.

I also have an V497 - Fido and would like to change the ROM since it becomes slow and almost unusable. Stuck on Android 5. Have you finally found any options like LOS or other working for G Pad II V495-V498 family?
Thanks in advance
Advice Please:
I have a G3 with PacMan ROM and it's freaking sweet. However, my infrared/camera (which I use hundreds of times/day for work) is not working when I shoot certain types of materials (works on leather, blurs on cloth now). I was planning on just waiting to get the G4 when more ROMs were out. However, now I'm rushed to pull the trigger. So here's my question:
I want to not activate my new G4, but use it for work over wi-fi and continue to use my G3 for everything else (calls/texts). Since I had to order my G4 to get more GB, the Verizon rep is telling me that I can have the G4 and keep my service on the G3. However, they will need to 1) Activate the G4/Deactivate G3, 2) Deactivate G4/Reactivate G3. Will I have any problems reactivating my G3 since it's rooted and ROMmed? Will this cause any problems with Verizon? Will they even notice?
Also, If I'm able to do this... Can I go ahead and root/Rom the inactivated G4 and activate it once a satisfactory ROM is out (and installed on it)?
I know this is complex and doesn't do many people much good, so MANY THANKS to whoever lends a hand!!!!!
I hate being in this predicament... If only we lived in a world where all the ROMs were available to all carriers within the first month of release... if only... LOL

Yes, you can activate the G4 and go back to the G3, even with root. When you activate the G4 make sure you go through the setup process before you pull the Sim and install the Sim back into the g3. Wifi will work on the G4 without the Sim at that point. Done it many times.

I'll second this... As I just did it lol. I bought my G4 back in October and used it for a week then went back to my G3 while waiting for some more development to happen. I'm back on the 4 now. Jumping back and forth works fine.

I juump from ZTE Moto E prepaid G3 and the G4. works fine with a good standing sim.
Thanks so much for the help!
To push it a step further... Could I Root/Rom the new G4, and then return it back to Verizon in my 2 week trial period without any alarms going off? Would I just need to un-root and flash stock Rom before returning?
The guys at the Verizon store are so oblivious to android development that I wouldn't be surprised if they took a rommed and rooted G4 back without realizing it!
Unfortunately I don't think we have any roms for our verizon g4 and most likely will never have more than stock based unless someone unlocks the boot loader or comes up with another bump and I think they've about given up trying which really sucks cuz I have 2 of then lol

Well I put it like this, I have 2 g4's and 2 days ago traded one for a g3 vs985 and I'm still in utter shock at how much this g3 blows those g4 outta the water in every single aspect and I've tested this thing balls out non stop and I hated lollipop and marshmallow until now that I'm running resurrection remix 6.0.1..rooting and custom recovery were a single click each and all I had to do was flash a 35b bootstack and modem to get mm running. I can't stress highly enough how much you'll regret getting rid of the g3 cuz there isn't very much to advance to with Verizon for a modder like us. The way they lock down their phones is just evil and the g3 is a rare miracle for a Verizon device. Have you done a lot of flashing yet on your g3?

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for confirming my suspicions! I have been using the PACMAN ROM for over a year now! Which ROMS do you recommend? Also note: I'm just good enough to root and flash. I've never messed with kernels or anything else.
I've run into a few quirks with my PACMAN ROM, nothing serious though (except for my camera not focusing as well anymore). Maybe a new ROM is just the change I need!
THANKS

Man on the g3 there's more Roms than I can begin to find a good start, hell I just started going down the list on Android File Host just search vs985 and there's over 400 files to start with. A good tip is to get a copy of each Android version's bootstack, modem, and kernal zips on XDA or you'll get updater script errors from the base band being off. Most likely you'll only have to stick with the latest version cuz most people go up in Android versions, not me I'm all over the place and still consider JB and kk the best and my personal favorite. But the Dirty Unicorns mm rom has really stepped up and cool as hell , especially the unique nav bar. If you run into problems finding the right bootstacks PM me and I'll hook you up

Hello all!
I have LG G4 F500 (No S/L/K) which appears to be a very rare model as far as i have searched the internet. The software version is F50010s. Its running Android 5.1.
The phone works pretty well sometimes for the whole day but at times it goes into a bootloop for 5-6 times and then back on. The performance is quite unreliable as sometimes it restarts when taking a photo or playing game or even when idle....
I would like to know if it is possible to root it and disable the bigger core or if it can be "converted" to 818 or something similar of that sort.... I feel really helpless as its an old device and not covered with warranty.
P.S Reason why I am posting it in Android development section is that i also want to know if this model is known to ROM development people and would be interested if someone suggests a ROM that may be compatible with my phone model.
Still it's a bad place to post this. Our developers only worked on 815 and 811 as those can be officially unlocked. About the rest, did you try or read about UsU?
