And what is new in your post?
Apparently Atmel chipsets can support up to 16.. So possibly more can be supported..
But yes, we already know the device supports multi-touch, and supports it properly (unlike the majority of phones which use synaptics still)

That's great! How is the sensitivity? Does it require that 5 fingers are placed on the screen at exact the same time.... I mean, only the worlds best pianists can do thát Ah, here's an idea: create an exercise tool for pianists, guitar players etc.

lol, 16 touchpoints? That's really useful functionality. Multitouching with all toes and fingers at the same time.. yes, I can envision a very interesting app.

or a 8 player game on your phone
lol
God that was funny.
I would like to see a photo of a galaxy S with sixteen fingers/toes/stylus on it at the same time.
I can produce 11 points without the use of my toes or tongue.
That has nothing todo with Froyo...
I have JM5 on it and can also touch with 5 fingers.. I never found any touch app, which supports >5 fingers..
And if you have used the search function, you would find another thread about this..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCDRXYJBCY
Impressive I never thought of a limit since typically every multitouch input I use is 2 fingered.

I can produce 21 points if only would it support that much
But what's new about this every SGS ROM can handle up to 5 points
hope there will be an app to get 10 points, just for showoff can't think of something usefull with 10 touches at the same time...

Very responsive and precise !!
Look at a comparisson with the desire:
16 points would be helpful for devices similar to Microsoft surface (not so useful for mobiles probably)
I believe the hardware technically supports "unlimited touchpoints", but somehow (can't recall where I got it from) I've gotten the idea that every added point comes with a penalty in update frequency.
A 5 point limit makes perfect sense for the 4" screensize.

That makes sense. All I know is that it's designed for 16 max (which is a magic binary number). But i would imagine that you are correct..

You're correct, the hardware supports unlimited multi-touch, but I think android is limited atm to only 5 points. I've seen 3 multi-touch apps that go up to 5 points, but not more than that. Multitouch vis. test was recently updated to check for more than 2 points, but it only goes up to 5 now as well.

Actually, looks like you are right:

Although, under the same page lower, it says it supports 16 fingers ? Maybe that's their drivers.. Dunno
Hello,
I'm excited that our Gio's have only 2 finger multitouch.
Is that possible to have more than only 2?
Thanks,
djemm,
no

Why you think no?
the hardware isnt capable of it
only high end smartphones can
Still, what use would we get of that?
Evenif the touchscreenwas capable of handling 3 or more touches, the hardware surely die on that...Just try to two-finger-largen a website whichisn't optimised for mobiles...Hardware starts thinking about what to do And doesn't finish thinking about it for longlasting seconds...
^ Good point, mate.
On a software level it can be done. I have multitouch support on me ZTE Light (single touch resistive) But it wont enable you to use more than two fingers. It'll just fool the phone into thinking it and allow apps that require it.

I don't know what sensor is in our gio but actually galaxy 3 can handle up to 5 touch points with custom kernels... not a really high-end modell btw...
As we've said previously, our phone could also handle more than 2 touches, but since we couldn't get any single use of it, but freezing the phone off, nobody yet tried to tweak it out.
Still, it's your turn to do it
on our little 3 inch screeen you dont need more then 3 fingers on your screen neither..
If you've got a question, don't post it in the Development sub-forum.
Use the general section.
How many multi touches does the S4 Mini support? On the apps I've tested it seems to struggle to register more than 5. Can anyone else confirm this please?
Hi, with antutu Tester i had 8 multi touch recognized .
Cause of my finger I can say 6 are good. for more I use to have smaller fingers
So is 6 multi touch normal or should there be more?
i dont know i think it should recognize always the same amount of fingers.
I think more then 3 are not necessary. I cant imagine a situation where you need more than 3.
The phone can handle 8 I think. As I already wrote if it recognizes more then 3 it is enough.
which app did you use.
I used antutu tester.
Hi,
A few days ago, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy A5, 2017 edition.
I really like that it has a fingerprint sensor, but I would like to have more then just 3 fingerprints in there.
Is that possible? I've searched on google, but I can only find a guide for S5, which doesn't seems to
apply for the A5.
It would really be awesome if I could add at least 4 fingerprints - both thumbs and both index fingers.
You guys' help would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
It's a bit annoying but you can use more than just 3 fingers in those 3 fingerprin profiles until a solution is found. I added 4 fingers into those 3 fingerprints and it works fine for me.

Wow, that actually works! Thanks! I even feel like the multifinger fingerprint works better than the other two that a base on a single finger.

I've just checked and it still only allows you to add 3 fingerprints. Once you add 3, there's no add button any more.
Can you provide a way or a guide or even a screenshot? But it must be from and A5 2017, not some other Galaxy model.

If you add fingerprint... scan your fingers as many as you can until 100% scan.... example 0-25% thumb then middle 25-50% :good:

That's been said before and is technically still 3 fingerprints as far as the phone knows.

Hey guys i bought the new 8.1 today and i see some problems. I'm just gonna list em just tell me if its there or is there any fixes for those!?
1) Ambient brightness is broke,
2) switching theme to dark doesn't work!
3) display turns off during a call as usual, not turning on while taking it off my ear
4) swiping to other apps hang for a second like 2 times in 50
But seriously disappointed because these are some basic things that aren't working here

I can't upload the screenshots since I am always moving around but I shared my experience, pie is better optimised on this device and with new kryo core 2*6 ,10nm it's bound to be better
I figured somethings out. Some of them are minor.

Use BSG ports. Because BSG using MI 8 and both Mi 8 and Nokia 8.1 have same camera sensors in my knowledge. I am using latest BSG port for Mi 8 in my N 8.1 and everything works fine.
