Hi guys,
Long time Android user but first time posting in 1S. With dual sim card + removable battery + sd card slot, Redmi/Hongmi always fascinates me as that perfect backup phone. I heard that companies in China equip their salesforce with redmi for its flexibility and inexpensive. Redmi 1 was a pain to flash and the articles online were often giving conflicting information and many versions of the drivers. I had to break out a Xp system to successfully flash it. I haven't had much luck with 1S tho and I am here to ask for your help.
Basically, I cant flash it through upgrade or recovery so I resorted to any good Android user would do, Fastboot! I thought this would be easy but no matter what version of MiFlash / Miphone I use, it just does not see the phone. I tested many drivers, put the redmi 1s in fastboot mode and drivers install fine. But the miflash just refuse to see it not many how I many times I refresh it.
I have a Chinese version Redmi 1S (got it in Shenzhen) but am trying to flash latest international (45). this is the 2nd redmi 1s that is giving problem and I did like to think it is not bad luck but something fixable. Any advice?
SPX
ran fastboot manual to list out devices
and saw mt6572v1 phone listed
That's mtk processor, why showing up for a qualcomm based 1S phone?
Simply use the recovery method to flash zip files.Flashing via fastboot has been a problem for many of the users.
Hi REDMI 1S Problem with USB can not detect by the computer even USB debugging is ON but the phone is charging when I plug it
any Idea?
Download the drivers necessary for detecting your 1S on your computer.
If you're running Windows, here is the thread. For other operating systems I am not too sure, so do search around in the General subforum.

Xiaomi official miflash tools has all the drivers required to connect your phone to your pc...
First step - Disable driver signature enforcement
Second step - Download and install ADB v1.3 (this will help you to get device driver)
And if you want to unlock bootloader just download the latest mi unlock tool , unzip it and put it in "C drive"
These steps worked for me.

You may try MIPCSuite from mi site. It will have all required drivers for connecting any MI device to pc.

My model is Note 9 Pro 5G (M2007J17C) with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM. Apologies if I am posting to the incorrect sub-model forum and please direct me to the correct one.
I am having a problem connecting my Windows 10 laptop to my Redmi device via FASTBOOT (or the miflash_unlock-en-5.5.224.24 tool).
ADB connects OK.
My intent is to eventually replace its ROM with LineageOS 18.1 by following the instructions on https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/miatoll/install
I followed the instructions on https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html (logged in to my Mi Account). Step 1 & 2 went OK. Step 3 is where I am unable to proceed:
Step 3. Connect your phone to PC using USB cable and click "Unlock".
The Mi Unlock tool (batch_unlock.exe) is simply unable to see the device.
When the device is on (with "USB debugging is on"), ADB connects without incident.
When the device is in FASTBOOT mode, fastboot.exe cannot even see it.
I tried replacing the driver with "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html , but Device Manager keeps insisting that the one that comes with Windows is the latest and refuses to pick the Mi one.
At this point I am out of ideas. What do I need to do in order to make the 'Mi Unlock tool' recognize my device?
Thank you
Problem solved. Here is how I solved it:
1. Rebooted the smartphone into FASTBOOT mode.
2. Plugged it in via USB to the laptop (same one).
3. Noticed that Windows 10 does not even display the USB icon in the SysTray.
4. Invoked Device Manager and noticed that 'Redmi Note 9' does NOT appear under 'Universal Serial Bus Devices'. OTOH, a new category, 'Other Devices' appears which read 'Unknown Android Device'.
5. Right-clicked 'Unknown Android Device' > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > pointed to the downloaded "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html
6. Driver installation finished successfully, creating a new branch 'Android Phone' having a child device 'Android Bootloader Interface'.
7. Bingo! `fasboot.exe` now identifies the phone (while in FASTBOOT mode during all that time, especially during driver installation).
Bottom line: The Xiaomi official "Mi USB Driver 2" from https://c.mi.com/thread-2273348-1-0.html is mandatory and can only be installed while the phone itself is in FASTBOOT mode.
