[Q] What goodies we need for our phones :) - General Accessories

Hi all,
Doing a market re-search, I am trying to figure out what goodies we expect and want/need these days looking at our second wives/hubbies AKA mobile phones.
Please share your interests and expectations! :good::good::good:

A quality camera and powerful battery. I hugely rely on my cellphone to take pictures during travel or attending events.

Are you a retro game artist?

I originally posted this on deviantART earlier today but have received no responses. 1800PocketPC recommended that I also try here. I didn't even think there may be designers lurking in the developer ranks...!
[EDIT: Apparently I'm not allowed to add a link to back-reference the deviantART link because I'm a newbie.]
I'm a software developer from the UK with absolutely no graphical ability. None. Every time I come here and see the awesome visuals that you guys produce I am literally blown away. The sheer range and quality of graphics are mind-blowing.
I'm primarily a web developer but in my past I've been involved with creating Flash-based games along with designers, but my eye's recently been caught by the Windows Phone 7 system that Microsoft are producing and the XNA architecture that you can use to develop games for it.
If you don't know, basically MS are throwing a tonne of money at their new phone operating system (coming out in a couple of months) and will have an application ecosystem similar to Apple's. My plan is to get a few (simple) 2D retro-style games up on their app store to try and capitalise on this surge of new people.
I am more than capable of developing the architecture for the game. I have experience in developing tile-based gaming engines and have already produced one example of a top-down "fighter" game using XNA and some dodgy graphics as a proof-of-concept. My plan is to take this and some other games I have ideas for, develop them in conjunction with a designer (or two) and put them on the marketplace.
I'm looking for someone interested in creating some retro-style game graphics/sprites to help me achieve the goal of selling these games and making us both - hopefully - some money. I'm hoping that someone out there there's someone, possibly a student, who'd like help. Even if the games don't get off the ground (and/or don't make any money), I will provide Windows-executables of the game that the artist might be able to use for course credit, CV, or something similar.
Please note that this is not a paid job. Not up-front, at least. However it is something that I hope will take off and we can arrange a profit-share for. I'm willing to accept the costs of getting onto the approved-developer-list (so that we can submit applications).
Is anyone interested?
Craig.

I have some cogs turning in my head about a variant of audiosurf, except its more of a puzzle, with your favorite tunes. I really think it will take off if its done right, I just need the know-how to develop it myself
Cheers guys
Have emailed you both. Anyone else interested?
I think this is a great idea and my plan is to work with a number of designers on a number of different games/applications/projects over the coming few months, so as many as possible!
Craig.
I'm interested. I have experience in Photoshop (7 years) and am a beginner in character design and fine arts as well. Shoot me an email and I'll show you some of my work.

[Q] Best photo apps

Hey XDA! Relatively new guy here, I'm hopefully getting my Venue Pro this week and am planning on comparing and contrasting a bunch of different applications for photos. So I wanted all of you that have had the phones for sometime to recommend some photo apps that you'd like to see dissected for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to list as many as you want. I'm looking forward to being an active member of XDA

Meet and greet sticky

I created this thread as a way for everyone to get to know each other by name. We're a tight knit group of users in here, and I thought it would be appropriate for us to know each other by name. In the recent weeks, I've noticed an increase in bickering. Experience has taught me that when people know each other on a name to name basis, it creates a more personal atmosphere, where people are less likely to show disrespect to one another.
As your Moderator, my goal in the forums is to create a peaceful atmosphere, where people aren't at each other's throats. It takes away from the true purpose of XDA, and also pushes people away. Let's all work together to improve the overall atmosphere of these forums. After all, we're all here for the same reason; a passion for development, cell phones, and sharing thoughts and ideas.
I'll start, my name is Ann

I m Nour Essawy, from Cairo - Egypt, 1st Droid was HTC Desire Z , awesome device, Sense is delicious however it drains the RAM as well as the battery, Screen sunlight resistance goes for Sammy as well as performance. QWERTY + Droid is my favorite. Ex IT - Support , Ex Business solutions support , Now as Social media specialist
My name is Tyler. I'm an android vet when it comes to applying mods and roms and whatnot, but when it comes to the guts of the stuff, I'm no good. I tried compiling a build of ICS for my nook color, but even that was beyond me. This is my fifth android device. After a Moto Milestone and Droid 3, this is my first phone with an actual unlocked bootloader that I didn't have to jump through hoops to root (never buying moto again). So that's been nice. I look forward to working with you folks.
Hey guys! My name is Andrew
First Android device here in the Captivate Glide I am learning how to do the little things in Dev and hopefully in time will just continue learning ...
My name's Rohit. The captivate glide is my second android device, behind Desire HD (still have it). I owned an iPod which I messed around with, going to the roots and such. Moving to android gave me more control over the phone than I had with the iPod. I know a little about editing widgets for android as well as figuring out problems which occurs.
the name is Gabriel. Been an Android user since 2010, most of my devices are Samsung so I am comfortable flashing ROMs/Kernels for these devices. I also used Sony Ericsson and HTC devices. My device history below:
Captivate I896 & I897
HTC Desire
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Samsung Infuse 4G I997R
Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE I727R
Samsung Galaxy S Glide I927R
I always stick on stock ROMs. But since I've been tied through developers' work, I have dedicated time to test their ROMs/kernels, use them until I know it is capable of being a daily driver, then go back to stock....

List of Devices:
T-Mobile G1 - SOLD
HTC Merge - SOLD
Galaxy S Glide (Rogers version of the Captivate Glide)

Berlin, Germany
I went from my, like 4 years old, HTC Dream to the Glide(which was so hard to root in comparison to the Glide). Also I like how I'm not the only one who owned a HTC Dream before <3
Hope to see some nice ROMs in the future
Hello from Fabrizio,
Rome - Italy.
Captivate Glide is my first android ever and i'm totally in love with it.
Mike from Toronto, Canada.
Had a Xperia x10 that went from 1.6 to 2.3, and got the Glide after. I still have a want for a physical qwerty. Glide is rooted and running custom OSI Mood ROM from Carpe.
I run a QA dept for a mobile app company and I have a lot of devices at my work (Nexus, Note, HTC's, Xperia's, etc..) and I still like my Glide over all of them.
I don't post much, but read a lot. I find people tend to post too much about nothing.
I also have an Asus Prime.
Looking forward to having ICS come out!

This is my first Android Device. I'm enamored with the flexibility of both the OS and the hardware.
Previous devices of any importance were a WinMo 6.5 LG eXpo and before that a feature phone LG Vu, over the course of the past 7 years. This community is important to me from both a support and a customizing aspect. Thanks!
Hi, I'm Austin... From Fredericktown Mo USA
This is MY second android device (not counting the two of my parents)
I had,
Iphone 3g (horrible)
HTC aria (awesome little thing)
Traded that for iphone 3gs
Traded that for my glide
I also have a Samsung Captivate and Moto Atrix 4g in my family...
I try not to post too much, but if there's a question that I have, or someone has a question that I have the answer to, I'm not shy.

Hi All. My Name Is John and I live in Montreal Canada.
I used to have a Samsung Omnia running Windows 6.1 Phone and before that an Axim X51V. Got Tired of crappy touch screens so I told myself I needed a Physical Keyboard so Hello Glide!
I also work in QA for a Computer company Though I deal in the Microsoft Certification of our drivers.
I installed a Rom on my X51V from XDA many years ago and now with my Glide. I like learning how things work and would like to get into making some Roms as I do have some programming skills but I have never done anything like this. I downloaded the Development kit but I am not sure how to use It I am used to Windows Visual Studio for Work.
Hey there
Hello everyone, the name's Alexander.
The Glide is my first real android device. I previously used hand-me-downs, most notably an HTC Kaiser. Before that an HTC Wizard. On the Wizard I used custom ROMs from XDA, and on the Kaiser I was able to run Android thanks to the great work of the developers here!
I have a background in communication & multimedia design, and have been a bit of a whiz-kid for as long as I can remember. I don't know anything solid about the nuts and bolts of Android specifically, and consider myself much more a tinkerer and designer rather than any kind of developer. So all I can offer are tips and suggestions on making the user experience better through theming, widgets, and so on. On the technical side I can hold my own, but generally with Android consider what I say as "good guesses" unless otherwise stated!
I can, however, really understand the excitement AND frustration that go along with any development-process. In part due to my own experience, but also second-hand as many of my friends are computer engineers.
I hope to be of some help to the lovely folks here at XDA!
Hi, Salaam, my name is Muzammil, living in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.
Samsung Captivate Glide is my first Android device, also bought the Galaxy S II, but that's mom's phone.
Have pretty much single handedly maintained this phone's Wikipedia article, with photos and text. If anyone wants to make it better, please contribute

I don't have the phone of yet but hope to get it really soon.
I'm using my Nokia N97 and want to change real bad
Hello, This is Vinay, from Bangalore - India.
Captivate Glide is my first Android Phone and very happy with the device from past 6 months.
I am basically an Mechanical Engineer. I am not into programming and writing codes.
Am ready to try and feedback on the Mods/kernels/Roms that the Developers are ready to offer to the XDA Community.
I can understand the work, time and patience that the ppl put across in any development process. Appreciate the work guys!!
Heavily try different App's widgets available in the market.
I can support in general usage issues and suggestions.
Always happy to learn and share.
Hey guys, Paul from London here.
Had my AT&T branded Captivate Glide for a few weeks now. Really like it lots, although I'm itching for some ICS action, but have so far managed to hold out from rooting and flashing it just yet due to the possible official upgrade
Its my third Android device my last being a Motorola Milestone that I had overclocked and flashed a few ROMs on. Ended up running CM7 in the end which I was pleased with, although the battery life left me wanting.
Backflip anyone?
Harry from NJ here. Upgraded to Cappy Glide from the Motorola Backflip running CM7. The Backflip had a great keyboard but was was slow and old (like me!).
Anyone else had a Backflip?

Sensordrone - Tricorderesque Bluetoth addon

Hi everybody,
I just discovered (and backed) a wonderful new Kickstarter Project. The so-called Sensordrone is quite similar to the "Node" and the Sensaris lineup of BT Smartphone addon Sensors, but it offers a lot more, at an attractive price and with a nice level of openness to outside input.
Head over and take a look here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/453951341/sensordrone-the-6th-sense-of-your-smartphoneand-be
This could be one big step in the direction of Star-Trek Tech getting a bit closer to reality.
The project has already reached and surpassed it's funding goal...not bad in 3 days...
CommanderROR, great project, really excited to see how things turn out.
They could actually benefit from some XDA-Developer support. They are looking for app-inventors with new ideas of using all those sensors the device contains.
So if anyone has ideas, post them here or at their forums!

<Poll< Modular Phone Case // Asking XDA community for help :)

Hello everyone!
My company is working on a modular phone case for some time now. The idea is pretty simple. A phone case that can adapt to your changing needs. Depending on the circumstances, you are able to choose from a variety of modules that can be placed into the case (one at a time to keep it good looking, slim and provide the best user experience).
Smartphones are an extension of ourselves these days, many of us keep them close 24/7. They help us with everyday tasks, but sometimes additional functionality is needed. There are otg memory sticks when you need memory, battery cases when you need more power etc.
No all-in-one solution has been provided yet, although certain companies are coming close to make this a reality
The modules we developed are interchangeable between different phones, but we have come to a moment where we have to decide what specific phones will the case actually be made for.
We would like to make it available for 3-4 smartphones at launch. This is where we need your help. Market research is tough, considering various tastes and people's preferences, so we believe that a quick poll on the most popular smartphone forums would greatly help us with our product launch and making the right decisions. If your phone is not listed please add it in the comments section below.
We will have prototype cases available soon and a few of them will be given out to the xda community for testing. Stay tuned for more information
Please take a few seconds to cast your vote, many thanks for your help!
