Rescue Application

Anyone knows how to login in Rescue app. that came from new update 217.401...
I put 6 digit code but every time it says invalid.
I guess thats because it will only work once an HTC rep gives you a code that you can use. They will probably use that to remotely troubleshoot your phone by 'taking over' controls via that app.
It does not seem to be of any use beyond that.

[Q] If my phone is rooted will I get tmobile hotspot service for free???

[Q] I'm just wonder if I root my phone will I get the service for free. I have asked around to a lot of friends and they'll tell me different stories. some i will, some say I won't. Or they say I will but if I get caught they will take me off the service for good... So can somebody share some information with me on this subject or is you know if they even track it??? I'd really appreciate it thank you.

Okay I looked around a little bit, and found some article saying if I was running a stock t Mobile ROM they can track it but if I'm running a stock rooted rOM they probably wouldn't be able to track it. But I'm still not sure.

hey if you are not rooted then they can track you. But if you are rooted then you can use titanium backup to freeze tethering manager or tethering provisions ithink it is called in ics. Most custom roms have that disabled so you dont have to worry about it. But it also seems that since they came out with the new unlimited 4g that they figured out a way to do it even if you have that tethering manager frozen not sure how but they figured it out. Given some time someone here will figure out how to get around that too. they kick us in the balls we kick them back. Right now if the method above does not work because it seems to work for some people then they catch on or whatever also if you dont have unlimited 4g then it might work with no problem but if it doesnt the only way I have found around it is to use google chrome on your pc then go to the chrome store and get an app called user agent spoofer I think it is called and it allows you to change your user agent so you can use chrome but it will think you are using IE or firfox or iphone or android. So what you do is set it to android then you trick them into thinking that you are using your phones browser but you are really using it o nyour pc. Now unfortunatly this has some drawbacks like if you try to use netflix it will not let you or pandora it wants you to download the app but of corse you cant because it is a pc. so anything with flash really wont work. But if you are in a jam and need the web then it will work.

"Device blocked" after user on app went nutty

I have an app that I have used for three years and I love it! However, some pregnant chick got angry about something, and blocked me by flagging me so many times that it auto blocked me, and after days and days I still cant reach the MOD and neither can my friend on the app. Now when I try post on the app (have tried both on wifi and 4g, have also tried making new account) it says "you cannot post, your device has been blocked." I changed proxy on PC and was able to access that way, but I need it on my phone. How would ai go about getting around the "device block"? I'm not rooted yet, either. Was trying not to have to root this phone. I have read about a few options, but know that this community always has the best info.Thankyou
Lou

Dish Anywhere

Can someone please try to sideload the Dish Anywhere app and let me know if it loads / displays properly ?
I tried side loading it via adb and it wouldn't send. Other apps would but this one said fail for some reason.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I side loaded it and it installed fine. after launching, the app runs 90 degrees rotated clockwise and I couldn't go any further. I probably should have tried it with mouse just for fun of it but figured without remote support it wasn't worth it.
Would that orientation app help get this app to work? How did you get it transfer via adb? I couldn't get it to go through. Other apps transferred fine but dish anywhere had a long error message. I'm pretty new at this stuff so please have patience. Thanks.

installed via ADB. i think there are a few different versions of the dishanywhere apk floating around, be sure you try the most recent one.

Thanks for your efforts. What's needed is a way to trigger tablet mode in the app. When I run the Dish app on my Nexus 7 it loads in proper landscape orientation instead of smartphone (portrait) orientation.
Is there a way to modify it to do this?

LG-G2 Knock on not working, hidden menu not as described

OK, so just to start, I'm still new to rooting, adb, roms, and all this fun stuff. I rooted my Nexus 5 six months ago because I got bored and just finished rooting my Ouya and putting cm11 on it. I'm not the greatest at this, but I can follow a good tutorial. Which is why, up until now, I've had little to no problems.
My wife has an LG G2 with my super awesome service provider, Sprint... Sprint wants to charge me $150 for this repair. I know it does not cost that much, and my wife does not want to give up her phone.
I'm sure you are all familiar with this problem. There is a section of the screen, about the shape and size of a search box in the top half of the screen, that since the last update, does not function properly, and *knock on* no longer works. I read all over the web, to access the hidden menu by dialing 5689#*980# . Which I did. But there is no option for touch screen test, or update touch screen firmware. LG is no help. Sprint is no help. XDA is my only option. Don't fail me guys and gals.
Oh, and my wife WILL NOT let me root her phone. She has a fully stock LG G2 for Sprint, and after this will hopefully have a fully functional LG G2.
Without root, you won't be able to replace the hidden menu with the Verizon one that does have the proper section to fix that. You may be able to root try the fix and unroot. This way she doesn't know.

Can you believe, after reading this, I thought hmmm, run it by her. I'd have to unlock the bootloader wouldn't I? And unlocking the bootloader wipes the phone. Can't really hide a brand new used phone from her.
I'd have used towelroot while the exploit was still available but alas, the problem wasn't here while towelroot was an option, but with a patch, came a hole.

OK, so I am a fool. I looked up the root method. I never bother before because she had always said "NO!" No matter how much I begged. So using Stump Root, does that reset the device? I feel like a real butt right now.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Lol, she caved. I used stump, and hey, nothing deleted. So her phone is now rooted (surprisingly easy to get her to cave), I download the hiddenmenu.APK and moved it over to the app folder and ran the required adb command in terminal emulator. It did its duty. Nothing changed. When I access the hidden menu, its still the sprint one. Help?

Good news, got it to work. Here is what you need to do.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001613264
Here is the hidden menu I used.
From play store grab root browser.
Use it to go to system/app directory. Find hiddenmenu.apk and the .Odex file.
Rename both of the files by putting a 1 at the end. This way you don't lose the original. Now paste the file which is above in the same directory.
Fix permissions to read, write, read, read.
It will look like this.
Rw
R
R
Save.
Reboot, system upgrading.
Phone, dial 5689#*980#
Go to hw device test
Touch test
Bottom of menu will be touch firmware upgrade
