hello there
i have changed my rom and now i want to go back to my stock. i tried to use pc companion to restore the phone but when i did i got a message saying that i don't have the official rom (or something like that) and that i can not restore my phone to original. so i tryed to change my rom to the stock manually. but i dont know what .ftf file should i use. i made a try with one and now the phone bootloops and i can not even go to cwm to restore it from there.
please please please help me i am so lost.
You have to use flashtool to flash a stock ftf to your phone. There are some here Any one of them would do.
The one i use is here
the thing is that i have arc s and i am in greece. i guess i just need the official ftf file to flash throu flashtool but i just cant find it anywhere. if anyone knows please share a link.
greek official ics ftf is here

thanks man. i am downloading it right now. i just flashed an ftf file "LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_Kernel" and its still bootlooping, i just dont understand why is this hapenning.
+ am i ever gonna be able to use pc companion again anyway? i mean to update my os
i think the problem is you are flashing a kernal instead of a full rom.
also you'll be able to use PC companion and all it's functions when you have a stock rom

Dear forumers.
I usually do not ask stupid questions as that, but there I am very very confused
I just want to install some new OS to my XPERIA S (LT26i). Now I have all stock cellphone conditions with original 4.0.4 Android version.
My wish is to have phone fastest as it can be and all stable. I have read many many topics and guides there but I am still confused where to start. I need all flashtool, bootloader unlock, root, recovery, flash kernel, flash rom and do not know what to do first, second, third,... And I do not want to break up phone.
Can someone please kindly understand me and copy links of actual guides in right order? I need suggestions for 4.4 version OS-s too.
Best regards

Is it? If I go to Update Center or on PC in Companion it says me that phone is up to date. It cant find any updates. I don't know why?
Can someone just tell me where I must begin, and what to do next, and what is the last thing to do? (guess flash new rom)
I just need order of work from all stock phone. I understend the guides and I can find them, but do not know what is the right order.
Probably you don't know that it is not so easy to first doing that, but for noobs that forum is so hard to understand especially because of risk to damage your phone is something goes wrong.

Now you need to download a rom from the development section, then open the zip on your pc, extract the boot.img. Then copy the rom zip file on to your phone and flash the boot.img using fastboot or Flashtool. Then turn on your phone, and keep on pressing the volume up button to enter recovery. Then wipe everything except system and sdcard and then flash the rom.zip. Reboot your phone and it should be running kitkat

I have rooten now too. So there is just installing ROMs, did not need any recovery on phone or kernels or something like that?
Which ROM will you suggest as a smooth and stable of 4.4? Need to work camera, call, sms and alarm.

i tried many aosp was best but lack of customization killed me,but smoothness was real awesome the guy helped u is the developer of carbon rom but i didnt try it so no comments.for daily driver and gaming i wont recommend rayman's rom or pureslim.no offence, they are stable but comparitively few games were slow and dint start on both like subway surfers and fifa 14 :silly:
I have installed this on my xperia but it's not that it has to be. It's version 4.6 not 4.8 and it's not 4.4 kitkat bur 4.1.2 JB. OTA updater says: Error fetching update info: Invalid ROM (LeOpArDx) & device (lt26ii) combo!
And device is LT26i not ii. At 60 page of discussion the others have the same problem with version and updating.

Hi im not a total noob but I have never updated my phone as was looking for the simplest way to do so. I also have a few questions for when ive done so. Im currently on 4.4.2 rooted soff and have been advised to update so I can get a working kexec so I can install multirom properly.
will I need to reroot and unlock bootloader after?
Is there a risk of bricking.
thanks.

Sir if you were in rooted condition and gladly also in S-OFF, you're free to do anything , i mean rather than fallback to stock, just flash any custom rom you want but also flash it's correlated firmware.
Thank You

Thanks for the reply the reason I was staying on stock is becouse I don't know what Rom to use to suit my needs thats why I was going to try multrom so I can test a few. And keep all my apps and contacts till I change over.
Can anyone add anything further?

If I'm you, I rather update my device to 4.4.4 first as you're running the older firmware so all you can enjoy is simply CM based rom whereas the lastest GPE and sense based rom may not work properly since you're still using the older firmware.
Is it better for me to return to stock update everything and reroot rather than updateing Rom and firmware seperately

Easier way is to restore back to stock and do the OTA than root if need but I don't. I flash a custom recovery and make a nandroid backup and flashing straight! skipping root

The easiest way is to get s off, then go superCID
You download the firmware zip, rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip. Put that on your extCSD and boot into hboot.
That's it. Your phone does the rest.
You can read more about it here.

Do you have s-off?
Or the simplest and fool proof method. Grab your nandroid backup (found in general section) and restore the backup and flash your stock recovery. After which please do a factory reset and try to search for OTA. It'll appear

Use a RUU will be easier for you. But beware, everything inside your device will be clean. So do backup your pictures and etc to your com before you use it.

I understand you not wanting to mess your phone. It is always best not to proceed if you are unsure.
I'm not sure what carrier you are on, but for the normal international model, you will want to download this firmware to use in the method I explained.
Some American carriers have different firmware, so if you on an American carrier, let me know which one and I will provide you with the proper download to update to 4.4.4
The best thing about this method over an RUU is that you won't lose any data.

My phone boots up in to my previous rom but it seems there is no custom recovery can i just reinstall it useing multirom app as i intend to ues this later on to test roms or do i need to have a custom recovery allready on before i can use the app thanks.
p.s is it normal that i can boot in to a 4.4.2 rom with the 3.19 fw.
Thanks
So I'm on stock 5.1.1 with locked bootloader and rooted.
Any idea where I can find a ftf file for 5.0.2 or 4.4.4 OR is there another way to root?
You can try flashtool > Xprifirm and see if there is one for you. I had a lot of broken downloads. I ended up flashing this D5503_14.4.A.0.157_Customized DE.ftf yesterday. I can, however, not find it and the moment, yet someone linked it on xda. Sorry.
Anyways, remember wipe cache/data after flash. Then you can root and install lockdualrecovery to flash a prerootet zip made with PRFCreater (Get newest rom from Xpirifirm)

Just for clarity, it says in your post that you are currently rooted on 5.1. Why do you want this file? Or is that a typo?
Please help!!!
I've been tying to downgrade from Lollipop to Kitkat by following various tutorials (like this one, for example), on here and around the net, but to no avail.
Every time I flash the 108 kernel, using Flashtool, whenever I restart my phone I get stuck in some sort of loop that doesn't get past the Sony logo screen. As such I have no other option but to do a Software repair using the Sony Companion.
Is the Sony Companion Software repair causing the problem or can someone point me in the right direction of a (guaranteed) way to go from Lollipop back to Kitkat.
Also, if it's any help, I have no recovery, no root and my bootloader is locked and can't be unlocked.
Thanks

You won't be able to boot your rom with the wrong kernel. I think that tutorial assumes that you're on KK.
Download the whole KK ftf and flash it, then use doomlord rootkit to root. You can get ftf here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...f-xperia-z1-compact-d5503-14-4-0-157-t3118047
Btw, what's your ultimate goal? Are you wanting to root and then go back to LP, or just use KK?
