I flashed a 20b ROM but now want to go back to kitkat so I can use my unlimited wifi tethering.
The ROM thread says to flash the 10r bootstrap before restoring to my saved kitkat nandroid, but when I do and then reboot it, I have no Data.
Im pretty sure I am still using the 20b modem. What do I need to flash to restore back to kitkat?

If you didn't backup your efs then you're stuck on lollipop ?
Any update or changes to this? I use an app at work that does not work on Lollipop at all.
I NEED Kitkat...
Give this method a try...

Other than having your phone replaced, this is the only method I know of that actually works for restoring LTE after a downgrade. Here's a link to the original thread...

I'm currently on G2 apps rom V5, but wanted to try out KitKat and Sphinx rom,
I know there is the KDZ method of going back to stock, however I was wondering if I could load my backup from stock JB 4.1.2 before installing G2 apps V5, unroot, and then work from there. Is this method possible? Thanks!

I don't quite understand what you're asking, but I'll try my best to answer.
Are you asking about the stock OTA Kitkat when you say "Kitkat"?
If so, then if you restore that backup, then you'd also have to somehow restore the recovery or else the OTA will not work.
You will be back on stock 4.1.2 though and can flash any rom you want, so if you get one of the flashable versions of the stock Kitkats, then you can flash it without issue.
If you are on the E980, then the flashable Kitkat is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760895
You shouldn't have to return to stock to flash Sphinx. All you'd need to do is format System, Cache, Dalvik, and Data, then flash.
Thanks for the reply sorry for not being more specific.
I have a 240L that was on 4.1.2 when I rooted and flashed the g2 apps rom.
I have been reading that I will brick the phone if I try to flash from my current rom, and that I need to OTA update from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 as well. I didnt realize about the stock recovery though so the only way to get that back is thru flashing the KDZ file anyway?
Thanks again for the reply!

I'm currently trying to flash stock firmware via KDZ, however, the method provided on xda is not working for me.
LG Support tools is telling me that my software is updated already and is not letting me flash the KDZ.
What am I doing wrong? Please help, thank you...
I have an LS980 with stock ZVE that's rooted with TWRP recovery installed.
Knock on isn't working, so I'm trying to find a way to flash a different ROM (currently, SuperG2).
When I flash SuperG2, I get stuck at the LG screen, and the LED cycles through different colors. The ROM never boots, but I can go back to recovery to restore my ZVE backup.
So I guess my question is how can I move from my stock ZVE ROM to, say, a ZVC or ZVD? Do I need to do anything besides flashing the zip and wiping the system, data, and cache through recovery?
Thanks!
Tot is the only way

I also lost knock on with ZVE and got it back by flashing dorimanx kernel, you might try it I've been happy with it.
When/ if Sprint does a Lollipop update I plan to roll back to stock using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476.
Cheers

Hello everyone,
Last week I flashed CM12 onto my G3, I have TWRP installed as my recovery.
I may have to send my G3 in for repair and if so plan to use the LG Flash tools to do so. I am worried that by doing so I will lose my EFS and modem. I flashed just the CM12 rom and Gapps, so would the stock modem and EFS still be the same as before I flashed CM12? I can currently backup both using TWRP, but will this modem and EFS be correct for my application of restoring back to stock?
Thanks to anyone who helps!

Hi there.
Your EFS never changes it does not matter which ROM you flash. Before you bring the phone back to stock with LG FlashTool please backup your EFS with TWRP!!!
Secondly, if you haven't flashed any other modem (I assume you were already on Lollipop before flashing CM12) then the modem is the same as stock. Please backup that also with TWRP!!!
Save both the EFS and modem on EXTERNAL MicroSD card or better transfer to a computer.
Lastly is that you must choose the right KDZ or TOT+DLL file for you phone!!!!!! When you bring back to stock anyway, both the EFS and the necessary modem will be included when flashing with LG FlashTool.
Have a look here and search more help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
Hope this helps you and if I did please press the thanks button.
Hello.
I kinda would like to try the LG G3s Lollipop firmware but I have a question, if I upgraded to lollipop and then root and installed TWRP would I be able to return to KitKat using my 4.4.2 nandroid backup (In case I didn't like it or battery was poor) or would the baseband have a conflict and not work. Also I am currently rooted now on KitKat with TWRP installed, if I were going to update how would I do it without bricking? Do I have to unroot and uninstall xposed?
Anyone?

Okay, and this wouldn't cause a baseband conflict with stock 4.4? Or cause modems to not work anymore?

It depends on the backup you have.
You can definitely downgrade the G3 using kdz or tot files, but they contain the baseband and modems within themselfs.

The backup I have contains: Boot, Cache, Data, EFS, and System partitions... A full Nandroid backup... I have almost all the KDZ files for the US990 but need the 10c firmware for it as that is what I am on, I have been unable to find the 10c firmware and that's why I want to know if a full Nandroid backup can get me from stock lollipop back to 10c kitkat

If I'm not mistaken the EFS partition contained the modem but not the bootloader.
Custom ROM zips shouldn't affect the EFS and bootloader anyway, but you should have a backup of the EFS just in case.
And you'll always be able to downgrade using a flash tool and KDZ or TOT files.
Also I recommend trying a 7.1.1 AOSP ROM, performance is much better than stock plus you'll get the latest security updates.

Unfortunately the US990 only has two ROMs and getting 7.1.1 is very unlikely as nobody really owns that device anymore....

Here's my experience, I'm currently on a stock version of 4.4.2 Kitkat with TWRP 3.0. I went up to MM when it first came out, not enough of what I needed was compatible at the time (mostly xposed stuff) so I reverted to my 4.4.2 nandroid backup. Everything worked except the modem. I ended up finding one, installing and everything was the exact same. It's been a long time and I use 10R but i'm assuming the process is the same.
You don't have to uninstall TWRP, just backup everything, wipe and install new rom. If you don't like it, revert to backup. Make sure you don't delete the backup and make sure you have the latest TWRP.

That sucks. If one of them is AOSP based, I've always been getting better performance on good clean AOSP ROMs compared to stock.
