I want to flash a custom rom to my LS980.
I have the new ZVC update, and have TWRP due to flashing the ZV8 Bootimg.
Is it now possible because I did this to flash Roms compatable with ZV8 and up?
I have a .tot file, but would rather not have to go thru that again..

So you meant to say I need to flash zv8 radio after I flash cyanogenmod 12 rom?
Yes
I was wondering if I may run into any problems by doing this.
I know that on an AT&T phone (i747), if you do that, you may lose your modem and needs to be reflashed (you get a null IMEI)
Is it the same on a SGH-T999? I was planning to flash this ROM:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26636
Thanks
There is no 4.4.2 to downgrade from for the T999.
If you just have a 4.4.2 Rom, you don't need to do anything.
The firmware you linked is the latest available so you can flash it regardless of what you have now.
There is no 4.4.2 update for the T999 so yes you can flash it but it is not a ROM, it is firmware, please do not confuse these two they are very different!
Yeah... I'm afraid I am confused. What I did was to flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690947
Isn't that a ROM?
However I would like to go back to 4.3, so I was just wondering if I could have any problems.
Sorry for the noob questions. I think it was clear to me, but I'm afraid it's not...
Thanks
Yes that is a rom, what you linked to in the first post is firmware which contains more than just the system and that is where you run into problems when downgrading

So if I'm on 4.4.4 right now, is there a way to go back to 4.3?

Yes, flash the link you provided in the first post or flash a 4.3 rom.. Understand this, flashing a rom will not determine if you can downgrade or not, flashing firmware will. Since there is no 4.4 firmware for the T999 you can still flash the 4.3 firmware. If there was a 4.4 firmware and you took the OTA or updated via Odin then the only thing you could do is flash a 4.3 rom, firmware will not be an option
Edit: oh and btw I accidently pressed the thanks button so you got a free one

Thanks. I understand better now. I have always been kind of confused between ROMs and firmwares.
PS: I triple thanked you.

How can we flash only KK modem if I upgreat with 5.0 stock and downgreat to 4.4.2 with KMZ?
In samaung it was "eazy" to flash modem...
here I have to bump it to flash kk modem. zip ?
I am coming from a G2 where we had to flash a baseband then flash CloudyG2. I now have a G3 in hand that is stock and on 4.4.2 and the model is D851. I only have to root, install custom recovery, and flash CLoudyG3 2.2 and no other baseband/modem/zips? Is that correct?

CloudyG3 2.2 is Lollipop i think
So i would think that you would need to flash the lollipop baseband if you are currently on KitKat

Thats what I thought too, but there are vague references in the the main thread that say it contains the bootloader in the zip file for the rom.... I just wanted to make sure so I thought I would ask here.
I decided to live dangerously and just give it a go after backing up my current rom. Works just fine. No need to flash a baseband first as I believe the zip file includes it.
Hello.
I kinda would like to try the LG G3s Lollipop firmware but I have a question, if I upgraded to lollipop and then root and installed TWRP would I be able to return to KitKat using my 4.4.2 nandroid backup (In case I didn't like it or battery was poor) or would the baseband have a conflict and not work. Also I am currently rooted now on KitKat with TWRP installed, if I were going to update how would I do it without bricking? Do I have to unroot and uninstall xposed?
Anyone?

Okay, and this wouldn't cause a baseband conflict with stock 4.4? Or cause modems to not work anymore?

It depends on the backup you have.
You can definitely downgrade the G3 using kdz or tot files, but they contain the baseband and modems within themselfs.

The backup I have contains: Boot, Cache, Data, EFS, and System partitions... A full Nandroid backup... I have almost all the KDZ files for the US990 but need the 10c firmware for it as that is what I am on, I have been unable to find the 10c firmware and that's why I want to know if a full Nandroid backup can get me from stock lollipop back to 10c kitkat

If I'm not mistaken the EFS partition contained the modem but not the bootloader.
Custom ROM zips shouldn't affect the EFS and bootloader anyway, but you should have a backup of the EFS just in case.
And you'll always be able to downgrade using a flash tool and KDZ or TOT files.
Also I recommend trying a 7.1.1 AOSP ROM, performance is much better than stock plus you'll get the latest security updates.

Unfortunately the US990 only has two ROMs and getting 7.1.1 is very unlikely as nobody really owns that device anymore....

Here's my experience, I'm currently on a stock version of 4.4.2 Kitkat with TWRP 3.0. I went up to MM when it first came out, not enough of what I needed was compatible at the time (mostly xposed stuff) so I reverted to my 4.4.2 nandroid backup. Everything worked except the modem. I ended up finding one, installing and everything was the exact same. It's been a long time and I use 10R but i'm assuming the process is the same.
You don't have to uninstall TWRP, just backup everything, wipe and install new rom. If you don't like it, revert to backup. Make sure you don't delete the backup and make sure you have the latest TWRP.
Here's the link I referred to - https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ock-d851-30d-kdz-flashable-zips-imgs-t3367371

That sucks. If one of them is AOSP based, I've always been getting better performance on good clean AOSP ROMs compared to stock.
