I have an LS980 with stock ZVE that's rooted with TWRP recovery installed.
Knock on isn't working, so I'm trying to find a way to flash a different ROM (currently, SuperG2).
When I flash SuperG2, I get stuck at the LG screen, and the LED cycles through different colors. The ROM never boots, but I can go back to recovery to restore my ZVE backup.
So I guess my question is how can I move from my stock ZVE ROM to, say, a ZVC or ZVD? Do I need to do anything besides flashing the zip and wiping the system, data, and cache through recovery?
Thanks!
Tot is the only way

I also lost knock on with ZVE and got it back by flashing dorimanx kernel, you might try it I've been happy with it.
When/ if Sprint does a Lollipop update I plan to roll back to stock using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476.
Cheers

I'm currently on G2 apps rom V5, but wanted to try out KitKat and Sphinx rom,
I know there is the KDZ method of going back to stock, however I was wondering if I could load my backup from stock JB 4.1.2 before installing G2 apps V5, unroot, and then work from there. Is this method possible? Thanks!

I don't quite understand what you're asking, but I'll try my best to answer.
Are you asking about the stock OTA Kitkat when you say "Kitkat"?
If so, then if you restore that backup, then you'd also have to somehow restore the recovery or else the OTA will not work.
You will be back on stock 4.1.2 though and can flash any rom you want, so if you get one of the flashable versions of the stock Kitkats, then you can flash it without issue.
If you are on the E980, then the flashable Kitkat is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760895
You shouldn't have to return to stock to flash Sphinx. All you'd need to do is format System, Cache, Dalvik, and Data, then flash.
Thanks for the reply sorry for not being more specific.
I have a 240L that was on 4.1.2 when I rooted and flashed the g2 apps rom.
I have been reading that I will brick the phone if I try to flash from my current rom, and that I need to OTA update from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 as well. I didnt realize about the stock recovery though so the only way to get that back is thru flashing the KDZ file anyway?
Thanks again for the reply!

I'm currently trying to flash stock firmware via KDZ, however, the method provided on xda is not working for me.
LG Support tools is telling me that my software is updated already and is not letting me flash the KDZ.
What am I doing wrong? Please help, thank you...
Hi I need help. I recently got this phone.
Rooted it with stump root, and flashed TWRP 2.8.4 using flashify.
I tried to flash a custom rom, but the wiping data part had an error. Stupidly enough, I proceeded to flash the rom zip and it got stuck flashing so I had to power it off. Now my phone is stuck on the boot logo. The only thing I can do with it is turn it off, or enter download mode. But I can't enter recovery mode. I read somewhere that it is possible to go back to stock recovery using the flashtool. Problem is I don't know which firmware I have. The only information I had about the firmware was that it was ls980vze because that's what I saw when I was flashing something. How do I deal with this? :crying:
p/s if there's a way that I can access twrp, maybe that' would work because I made a nandroid backup before. Don't know if that's useful though.

Okay, quick and easy.
There is a zve tot, though before we do much. Custom ROM as in which one?
Anything CM based is radio zv8, if it is a cloudyfa ROM; you can be zva to zve radio.
So depending on which can save trouble.
Root, depends on which version you are. Zv8 - go with ioroot25. Zve - use stump root.
Next thing, forget flashify. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Tried and true method, Auto-rec. Only after root.
Upgrade TWRP through TWRP by gator's zip of bumped and such. Or use TWRP app.
Again if your zv8, flash your CM based ROM of choice.
Zva-zve, flash your stock based like cloudyfa's Roms and such.

I tried to flash Validus ROM so i'm guessing that's zv8? I am rooted btw. Wait so you can upgrade twrp by flashing another twrp file? When I used flashify, after flashing the 2.8.4 bumped twrp it rebooted to my current twrp 2.7.0 and flashed it so I thought it was just the same. I'm pretty sure I am zve. Can I flash a zv8 rom if I have a zve rom? How do I get out from the bootloop?

Basically you're stuck using the ZVE tot to bring it back to factory. Be sure to boot it at least once as the phone will have to re-activate itself.
Try the zv8 modem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451426
And if not, then try you and always check the op carefully before flashing.
I want to try out Grola rom but i really dont want to go through the process of having to .tot just to go from that rom to another. Is there a way to flash another rom without having to .tot back to factory.? I have the ls980 variant

Read the directions very carefully. If it is aosp or cm variant. You need to flash the zv8 radio after the ROM.
Primary thing, make a backup first. If you have newest TWRP, it will backup radio. So when you recover you can have no issues.
If it is stock based no problem. You only have to tot if you really needed something up or going back to zvd or zve radio.
Ok so i just boot into recovery, flash correct radio and flash the new rom i want. Unless its a zvd or zve stock based rom then i would have to .tot right.?
Right now I'm on resurrection remix. Which is cm based. So I have already downgraded boot loader by getting TWRP installed. I flashed zv8 radio for the ROM. If I wanted to go back to stock based because I didn't backup my radio. I would tot.
This way my radio is back to what it needs to be.
Or if I screw something up on flashing I can tot.
I flashed a 20b ROM but now want to go back to kitkat so I can use my unlimited wifi tethering.
The ROM thread says to flash the 10r bootstrap before restoring to my saved kitkat nandroid, but when I do and then reboot it, I have no Data.
Im pretty sure I am still using the 20b modem. What do I need to flash to restore back to kitkat?

If you didn't backup your efs then you're stuck on lollipop ?
Any update or changes to this? I use an app at work that does not work on Lollipop at all.
I NEED Kitkat...
Give this method a try...

Other than having your phone replaced, this is the only method I know of that actually works for restoring LTE after a downgrade. Here's a link to the original thread...

Im on ZVG and i messed up my recovery someway or another and i need to revert back to stock or factory reset it but i have no idea how to do this, this is my first LG phone and i don't want to completely brick it. The phone works but the recovery doesn't and i want to install TWRP and flash a rom.
There is thread in the LG G2 General forum that has all the info you need. You need to get a tot file and flash it using LG recovery tool. It works. I have done it successfully a few times
