Hello devs.. I truly appreciate you spare some time to see the thread
The issue is that I have my photos in the internal SD card
My phone fell off a high distance and the screen isn't responding perfectly
I have a password on my phone thus I couldn't plug into a PC
I was on STOCK firmware, no root.
what do I do to recover my photos?!

i dropped my phone and since then the screen refuses to turn on. it seems like everything is working fine except the screen. calls are coming through and im able to answer the call as long as i swipe at the right spot. is this something that can be fixed instead of swapping out the phone? if this cant be fixed and i have to get a new unit, can the sprint technicians be able to somehow transfer everything over to the new phone? btw, my phone is rooted with cwm installed and nandroid backed up to internal storage since i have no sd card installed.
If you can connect via USB you can grab the data from internal storage possibly, but it sounds like, at best, your display has a hardware issue ( strange that the touch works but the display doesn't)
But I see a trip to the phone store in your future.
If you can, I'd recommend booting to the boot loader (pwr-voldown) and using Odin to flash a stock from first so you can at least have the chance of getting a warranty replacement. ("Not sure what happennes, the screen just doesn't work anymore...")
Good luck.

Sounds like something with the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. You could get lucky and only have to reconnect the LCD's ribbon connection, however, if the LCD is cracked in any way, it would have to be a replacement, that is, if they allow replacements on cracked LCDs. Every ASC location is different. The only way to transfer anything would be to connect it to a PC, like he said in the above post, and hope it connects as USB storage by default. Copy everything to the desktop and then drag-and-drop onto the new phone's storage. But dude, get an SD card. It really makes EVERYTHING so much easier when transferring to a new phone.
The LED back light system and the touchscreen are independent of each other. Sounds to me like the connection to the back lights and the power got disconnected.

that is exactly what it seems like. can i take it into a sprint store and have it repaired or do i need to send it off?
As long as there is no physical damage then I would say its repairable. If you have ever seen a smartphone dissembled you should go check it out on you tube. Alot of the connectors are very small and easily popped out.
Okay so my T-989 has slowly been dying, RRs, freezing randomly, SD card unmounting on its own and not working for days, Power/Lock Button goes haywire and now my screen is shot. So yeah, I battery pulled it, put the battery back in, booted up my phone and the screen stayed black but with two orange lines at the bottom of the screen. I can press the power button, feel it vibrate, the touch buttons light up, I can email myself and my phone will vibrate, so I know it works, I just cant see anything on the screen. I opened it up and EVERYTHING inside was intact, nothing broken, corroded, etc. I dropped my phone in a full cup of soda in January, pulled the battery out quick, put it in a bowl of rice in my pantry and a day later it was perfectly fine. It started with the problems I mentioned above like end of March/Beginning of April. Now I can't exactly say what caused my phone to start messing up, it could have been the soda, could have been that I've dropped it about 1000 times (Mechanics school, working in construction, partying, longboarding, etc LOL) or could be all of the above. So now my problem is, I have a expensive paperweight that still works but I can't see anything on the screen and it has many of my important files in the internal memory. Me being the impatient and hot headed person that I am, i got so pissed when I realized I don't have a phone anymore, I stabbed it... Now its safe to say I only cracked the glass, the phone still boots up, vibrates etc.
I need help recovering my files that are in the internal memory (Pictures/Videos from October till now, saved documents, etc). My computer recognizes my phone when its plugged in but obviously I cant enable Mass Media/Storage on my phone since i cant see the screen. I don't know of any way to bypass that option, and without that my computer won't show me my internal storage. Idk if this'll help, but its on AOKP, with CWM non-touch recovery version 5.x(i know it started with 5 but I don't remember the rest). I've tried mounting storage via recovery but nothing happens, I'm not even sure if I'm selecting the correct option. I don't wanna keep trying to do that cause I don't wanna mess anything up.
And I guess this also means I'll be leaving this awesome community of Devs, friends, fellow nerds and noobs. Idk what my next device will be and I don't even know when I'll be getting one (I'm actually starting to pack/get ready to move from NYC to Dubai). I always said I would only retire my T-989 if I got the chance to switch to a Note 2 but I guess I'm retiring it without a choice.
BUMP. Anyone? My LCD is shot but the phone works (boots up, etc) and i really just need to find away to get my files saved in the internal memory.
You can pull the files using adb on your computer. Check this thread for more info on how to do it.
I'm trying to help a friend recover mainly pictures from her phone. She dropped it down some carpeted steps and now the screen is dead. To avoid paying $200ish to replace the screen or turning in the phone to get a new one (right now), her main goal is to get the photos. The phone is unrooted and has a lock code. What can be done or steps to get inside the internal drive?

You should be able to hook it up to your computer via USB and copy the photos to the computer. I do that all the time and don't have to unlock the phone to do so.
Well now I did it.. I sent my fire phone through the washer. After a day in a bowl of rice and performing open heart surgery so I could blow a fan on the internals I attempted to turn it on................ and discovered that everything works EXCEPT the touchscreen. So now I have a problem, I have it hooked up to my laptop with no problems... and I have taken most of my personal stuff (pics, ect) off the phone onto my laptop.... but I want my full list of contacts off the phone... is that possible? the phone is completely stock and I removed the sim card (but not all the contacts are on the sim). thanks in advance for your help.
UPDATE:
The touchscreen is now working (maybe it was still damp before??). The only real problem it has now is that its very slow... even after a factory reset it lags. any ideas?
Hi everyone, I have an old HTC one m9 that was sitting at home for a long time and I was wondering if it's possible to recover the datas from it. The problem is that a few years ago the screen went black and the phone did not respond anymore. I had rooted it and flashed it with a rom that I don't remember the name and that probably caused stability issues. I have no way to see if the phone is on or off, it isn't recognized by adb or fastboot but the only sign of life is windows detecting a device but not recognizing it, I don't even think it shows on the peripheral manager. when I stay pressed a long time on power button it disconnect and reconnects instantly to the pc.
Im sorry I don't have a lot of information and Im still newbie into all of this but I hope someone can still help me, so in advance thank you for your time.
Is the screen black due to damage? If so, have you considered just replacing the screen?
It takes some patience but it is doable as a DIY project. Parts are cheap, ~$25 for a new screen. Youtube is your friend.
If the screen turns on at all, try booting to recovery by pressing and holding all three buttons on the side. TWRP has some options for file manager. Copy data to an SD card.
I am having one as well only that mine its not recognised by pc, the main problem with this M9's is the internal memory or the eMMC which most of the time is dead or it reaches its lifetime cycle , sometimes it can be revived using a jtag box, or replacing the eMMC with a new one but this requires some skills.
