I've been trying for days to get the defy to work i want.
I listen to audiobooks, music and podcasts, and I need to be able to control it from the headset
I tried default player, google listen, winamp, doggcatcher. And cant get the thing to work right!!
Music+ doesn't even register the button press, listen resumes and skips to next track, even if you're playing another audio in the background. Winamp on its own is fine but does not download podcasts, and doggcatcher has conflicts with winamp on the headset thing.
Has anyone find a good solution for this? it seems just the way android is built, and the lack of a good unified media player (with or integrated with podcast manager).
Such a disappointment... I was so looking for having an android phone! If I can't find a solution, it seems its not for someone like me untill they integrate things a little more tightly.
Well, it's not the Defy. And while I don't think that Android sucks at playing media I do agree with some of your points. I also listen to audio books and podcast. For the moment I'm using AudioBook Player 2 for audiobooks. It's not prefect by a long shot but it does the job. As for podcast I haven't found anything useful yet. The defaut player is suppose to play podcast but there is no way to skip through. If I have to stop listening to the podcast there is no way of getting back to were I left off. And while the device obviously play videos, and does so quite well, I haven't found any type of video player interface. The only way I can start a video is by going into the gallery and taping on the file I want to play. That dosen't seem right to me.
So yeah, I feel your frustration.

Yes, sorry. I did not meant to bash, its just that I soo wanted to love it... and I don't, and if there is no good solution I think android is not for my for now. I don't know. It has so many great things!
Thanks for your suggestions I'll look into it.
On another subject : When I listen to music, I can't do anything else (switching to landscape mode e.g.), otherwise it's really slow.
Is anybody else having that bug ? Some guy here mentioned it. But he then said he fixed it without having it deodexed. How do you fix this ?
Meridian is a media player that does most of what you want, with the possible exceptin of podcasting (don´t use it, don´t know).
It remembers where you last listened to a track, and if you switch to video (which has a library of it´s own) it still remembers where in the audio track you were when you go back to that. So actually better than WMP there... ;-)
Only thing that grinds my gears with this is an annoying bug that starts a random track when I press the button on any wired headset. If I hang up a call, or if I want to pause and then start playing in Spotify or radio, Meridian starts playing a tune in the background. I thought it was a bug I was having with my Pulse, but it´s there with the Defy as well.
A BT headset has none of these issues though.
Don't worry google is working on a multimedia improvement......soooonnnn soon, also has anyone tried poweramp
Hi all.
I was wondering if you may be able to help with some advice regarding the G3.
Here's where I'm at.. I've been using a loan g3 for a week and I love it.. That screen just blows my mind. I've tried the Xperia Z2, the. htc M8.. Neither of them match or even come close.
What I am finding though is there is one issue that really irritates me. The lack of being able to call up the voice mate software using the headset. It is impossible. To give you an idea of where i was before.. I used an iPhone 5S and A Galaxy s5.. I used Siri all the time and find S Voice to be brilliant. I drive a lot and also walk around a lot listening to music and I hate walking worth my phone in my hands in London. Total muggers target.
With the S5, you just press the headset call button for a few seconds and it brings up S Voice which then allows me to play music without looking at the phone. I can't believe the same functionality has been left out of the g3. I've been through all the menus and tried saying the keywords to bring it up and it doesn't work. Am I totally missing something or has LG dropped the ball here?
The only thing I can find that is close is to press the unlock button while the phone is in my pocket to unlock the screen and then use the headset button which does bring up Voice mate. But it then doesn't do anything until I press the onscreen button to complete my command. If I press the headset button again, it doesn't do anything.
Similarly, the S5 features a car mode which just works. It audio connects to my Bluetooth stereo and then opens itself and plays tunes just by me saying Hi Galaxy. I can't seem to find anyway of achieving this with the g3. It's a big thing because having to unlock the phone then find the software key then swipe up to voice mate means I take my eyes off the road which really isn't ideal.
Can anybody help? It may sound like an insignificant thing but this is a big thing to me and means I'll have to plump for the s5 even though my heart tells me I really want the g3 more.
Oh and how do you guys find battery life? Is there a way of emulating the extreme power saving mode brought to us by the likes of the s5 and HTC One m8 rather than the pretty paltry built in battery save app?
Thanks in advance.

You have to activate voice recognition on the lockscreen within voice mate settings and the app starts listening with the "LG Mobile" or "Hello Genie" hotword (whatever you've set from these two).
My battery life is pretty solid, around a day and a half with moderate (web, streamed music, some casual games,...) and through the whole day with heavy (web, music, high demand games,...) use.
LG's implementation of this is horrible on all of their phones; I have been trying to get this to work on my LG flex for 6 months and it just wont..
I might be confused but can't you just press the dedicated button on your earphones to start playing music? Why do you need to go through Voice Mate? Also, Google Now now supports voice commands for music playback as well. I believe that can be activated by long pressing the headset button.
I wanted to use voice mate to make calls, but, its absolutely worthless on the LG flex; it never recognizes a word you say..
Hope its better for you folks on the G3

Hi Japultra,
This is the thing.
There are three buttons on the headset. The main one just stops and starts music. Long pressing it starts nothing. It just sits there. Long pressing the volume down button launches the camera, and the same with the up button launching the note taking software. These are no changeable.
They don't launch VoiceMate OR Google Now.
I like to talk to my phone and tell it to play particular songs, then to call someone, then maybe play a song by someone else. Rather than having to walk down the street with my phone in my hand like a mugger's target doing it all the old fashioned way.

Is there no way to set Google Now to be the default on the long press of the button? Also, which parts of London are you walking through that's so dangerous? I live here and have never had an issue with my phone.

Not that I can figure out - but if you know a way, please share.
I walk through a lot of London. Granted, mostly between Knightsbridge where I work and Surrey - but that's not the point.. It just takes once for a phone to be snatched out of a hand and I switch between songs that often, it's so easy with S-Voice or Siri to just hit the cable. I can't believe the G3 has left this out. Seems potty.

Yes, I have tried that. It makes no difference
Hi Gang,
So I start a song playing on google play music. I get the card to pop up with the artist name and the pause button on the bottom of the face.
Then, within a second, it disappears. I can press pause and play on my phone quickly and it'll happen again. If I time it right, I can "catch" the card before it disappears, but if I try to do any media controls it does the control on Google Play Music but then the card disappears again.
Anyone else seeing this? I wonder if I can do a harder factory reset than the "reset device" option, because I've done that twice already?
Thanks!
Nobody on this?
I've since installed Music Boss to help with media controls, but would be nice to know if other people are experiencing issues with the stock music card.
Not sure if media controls are even listed as a feature for the 360. Please someone chime in! Thank you
Anyone? I need to know if mine is bugged and if I need to contact Best Buy about this and get an exchange, or try to flash the thing back to factory.
When you press play in Google Music do you get the card? Can you play/pause without it disappearing randomly? Does it disappear on load sometimes? Help a brother out...
I wasn't really paying attention to mine. When I was, the card was always there.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. Every time I re-connect my 360 to my phone, the media card pops up, and it says it's playing a tv show on netflix... every single time I re-connect. I've restored the watch, reinstalled android wear...etc.
Same thing here. Driving me nuts as it's probably the most useful card.
Happen to me today, after update android wear and it is force the watch to reboot.
Media control card will disappear after couple songs, need to pause and replay the song again from my phone to show the card again.
Funny thing is the lyrics card from musiXmatch is still there.
and just curious, anyone feel the last android wear update is affecting the battery life?
before my watch can last for 2 days. (14 hours / day).
now my watch already dead at 9.30PM (unplug from charger at 7AM)
Card disappears as soon as I hit play
I'm having a related issue too, possibly as the result of upgrading my phone to Lollipop (it only started happening since then, and Lollipop has more settings to prioritise notifications). Where I used to get a generic media controls card with the name of the artist and a pause button, with a swipe right revealing a screen with volume and back/next buttons, I now get a card with the Play Music logo and the track name, which only shows when the music is paused. This card doesn't have a play button until you swipe, and swiping right only reveals one control at a time, not all four on one screen (quite annoying to use actually). I'm using a Moto 360 as well, however I doubt that it is in any way specific to that. I'm also using Play Music as my music player. My primary suspicion is that the generic media controls went with the lockscreen widgets that Google axed in Lollipop, and that Play Music offers a fallback which happens to be quite bad. Any ideas?

After some quick Googling, it looks like my hypothesis was correct! A leaked update to the update to the Wear app seems to fix the issue for Lollipop, see http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...l-makeover-but-only-on-lollipop-apk-download/
So i bought my wife a tablet for school. However we keep hearing this crackling sound/popping sound coming from the speaker when playing youtube videos, playing games such as jungle heat. It is really annoying because when we are watching videos we can hear the sound. If anyone could help us, I really appreciate it. This is the 3rd time we exchange this device but the result is still the same. I dont know if its just me. Thank You!
Can you post some music or a movie from youtube where you ARE sure you hear a lot of crackling? Just so we can check it out ourselves?
I have yet to experience this at all. It is weird if you have had that issue on 3 devices now. Do you have bass boosts or equalizer on?

Give me a youtube movie or clip of music. Not your recording mate. Just something original that makes it pop. A name of a song or a video. Doesn't matter. Do the people you talk about have the same tablet as you? Or random?

ok no problem
If it is a hardware issue then Samsung should repair it if it is within the year warranty. Best buy should cover it if it is pretty new as well.
Are you running stock System? Have you checked to make sure you are up to date? Install Kies3 on your computer and see if it finds any updates.

I don't hear any popping or crackling sounds from my tab pro 8.4 I have tested with its internal Speakers, The Headphone jack, and using a bluetooth headset / headphones.
Does it have this problem when you plugin headphones or is it only the speakers? if it does it on all audio outputs then its most likely some kind of interference happening first try the headphone jack which is analog like the speakers.., bluetooth is digital with a2dp so it probably won't happen on that (though this could also be a temporary solution to use bluetooth external speaker or headphones)-
If it is interference then you need to find the source and hope it is coming from your own house , best way to find interference is to either unplug everything you can find or go to the house circuit breaker box and switch off the main switch this will turn off all electric in your house then use the tablet and play back a video /audio you have saved to the internal memory and see if it still happens.
Many people have this problem (including me). Any time the app you are using has something that emits sounds (even if you have muted your sound), you can hear crackling based on how heavy the CPU is working. It is most likely interference coming from the CPU. Not much anyone can do about it, except for Samsung. It would probably need a rework of the components though, that's why a simple replacement of the speakers will most likely not work. As soon as you put something in your 3.5mm jack though, the crackling should stop. (Most likely because the speakers get turned off physically instead of just being digitally muted) So really, the best we can hope for is we can find someone who may be able to create an app that emulates the headphone jack being used whenever the sound is muted. At least the crackling stops when the sound is muted then.

It happens when im playing intense gaming such as jungle heat. Whenever i play jungle heat for 15 mins straight pop sound comes. When i plug an earphone i dont hear anything.
Trya playing jungle heat for 15 mins you might hear a popping sound coming from the speaker.
I have Samsung tab s5 e .. I have similar issue whenever watching netflix ,hotstar ,or some spotify songs ..I'm hearing like a cracking sound at one of the top left speaker ..I tried going to safe mode ..but still able to hear it ,,did a factory reset ,for a while it was good but later on it started .I'm not hearing this sounds in headphones ,it's really annoying ..while watching videos with intense music ..
First and foremost I feel obliged to express my disgust at how long this has been a problem in android. My S3 did it but nothing like as often and as much as my G3 does. The problem is when listening to music, if you don't explicitly stop your player from responding to headset controls. the music pauses, skips tracks, changes lists etc like all hell. Im given to understand the problem lies in the jack itself, and that twisting or so much as sneezing on the plug causes the rings to move which android falsely interprets as headset control commands.
It might sound like I have already solved my own problem with the above fix, but I ALSO had the problem of it launching google now voice recognition. This interrupts my songs and I wont lie I have come PERILOUSLY close to pegging my phone at a wall on more than one occasion. Its absolutely appalling this has been going on for this long. Rant over.
Heres my current situation firmware/root etc wise:
Android 6.0 marshmallow (its been a problem for me since jellybean)
Root access
Trying to install the xposed framework at the moment but doesnt look like its going to work with marshmallow
I will do legit anything to my phone to have this prick of a bug erradicated.
THanks for your time
Bump - anyone know of any solution? I Dont care if I need to completely cut out Google Now I will do It I legit cant take this crap anymore and I want to be able to run with my phone
