[Q] Seeking Advice - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hello,
I have had my VZW M7 for about 1.5 years now and never got around to rooting it. It has been lagging quite a bit lately, so I think now is a good time to wipe it and start fresh. While I am at it, I figure I'll root and install a new ROM.
I have generally used CM on previous phones, but the last time I did this was a few years ago.
My question is: what would you recommend I use for overall stability, snappy performance, and a great UI? I have heard good things about GPE and at the moment that is the direction that I am leaning in.
Could you please point me towards threads that would get me started with the process?
Best Regards,
Glass

It depends on the current OS, bootloader, hoot versions of your phone. I'm assuming you have the latest OTA. If so Sunshine is I believe the only method to root. Post your current versions so others can help better please.

What do I need to do to my phone to stay updated?

I've been out of the loop for a lil bit now and came back and you guys have moved FAAAAAR forward. Further than I can possibly catch up/figure out in a couple of days. So I figured I'd ask for help.
What do I need to do to stay updated?
Here are my stats:
Firmware version: 2.1
Baseband version: 1.39.00.05.31
Kernel version: 2.6.29-a2443432 (next line) [email protected] #1
Build number: BuglessBeast v0.3 Beta (I actually like this ROM a lot so I will keep this UNLESS needed to change.)
Software number: 1.32.651.6
Browser version: Webkit 3.1
PRI Version: 1.34_003
PRL Version: 01337 (I'm using the TechKnowFile's trick)
nothing, of you like buglessbeast then stay otop of that thread. there was a ota update that kicked people out of root, and some other things im sure, but until buglesspete puts a new version out, wait.
or jump on another rom.

BUMP? anyone? GPS is definitely playing up. Really need to send it back to warranty! sorry about double posting
You need the original htc release of that base, it looks like this line: RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_???_2.50.861.4_Radio_12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2_Release_??????_signed.exe. I've been looking around for you but can't find that base, closest base i can find is 2.50.405.2. Good luck searching.
Thanks, but so far I'm not sure how I'm gonna get it back to the specifications I need, is there a way/rom that is 3 and (an australian one?) as long as they'll take it in I guess :/
Hey Mich reckon u can just link/send me the one you mentioned? If that's the closest it should be good enough, is the rom newer or older than the one I needed?
Thanks!

[Q] Worried HTC One X User

Hello everyone I just wanted to ask you guru's for some advice pretty please. I recently got a HTC One X on Vodafone in the UK for me and a SG3 for my wife and I am starting to seriously regret getting the One X because I have been having some issues and my wifes phone has been awesome.
The issues I have been having is the battery life being much worse than my old phone (Desire HD) also the phone getting warm/hot on the back at the top left.
Here are the details of my phone for reference:
HTC One X - White
Tegra 3 Quad Core Version
Vodafone UK Network
Android Version: 4.0.4
Htc Sense Version: 4.1
Software Version: 2.17.401.2
Htc SDK API Level: 4.23
HTC Extension Version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
Kernel Version: 2.6.39.4-g090b42e, [email protected] #1, SMP PREEMPT
Baseband Version: 2.1204.135.20
Build Number: 2.17.401.2 CL89015 release-keys
Browser Version: Webkit/534.30
Has there been some fixes released at all? or is my phone buggered? I have thought about putting a custom rom onto the phone to hopefully fix it, is this the way to go? If it is what is the best ROM to pick up at the moment with the least amount of issues?
As I have never flashed a new ROM before I have a few questions about it:
•Can you backup your old stock ROM before you flash because I assume flashing a ROM voids the warranty
•If I flash a ROM like RENOVATE will it effect my abilty to take pictures/video and use Wi-Fi or vertain apps? As I have heard Radios and other stuff not working right or something.
•I guess I will have to root my phone before any flashing, is my software version rootable?
Sorry for so many questions I just don't want to seriously fluff up my phone, I think myself as a pretty advanced android user but ROMs and flashing is a bit scare because I dont want to end up with a brick for another 2 years.
Thanks in advance

We have 3 One Xs.
1-My Old (Dropped in water) (WWE)
2-My new (India)
3-My wife's (Korean)
Any of them doesnt have a heating problem
And battery life is better than my old phones (Desire s,sensation, gnex)
Have you updated your firmware yet?
I remember the earliest firmware 1.26 had a TERRIBLE overheating problem. Later releases pretty much fixed it.
It's not buggered mate, they are famous for geting hot when being pushed hard.
Battery life is questionable on stock. If you switch to a custom ROM, you'll generally see an improvement in battery life especially if you switch to a ROM like Cyanogenmod 10 which doesn't use sense.
You will lose Sense benefits like the excellent camera features AND if you flash a custom rom you assume warranty responsibility. Even if you flash a recovery rom, HTC will still know you've unlocked it.
All variants of the One X are rootable and there are excellent tutorials available depending on your needs.
I did it, and haven't looked back since. Cyanogenmod 10 in particular is incredible and feels so fast and fluid in comparison with stock builds.

Fixes released? - HTC has released updates, but in general we don't really know what their updates really fix
Buggered? - No
Custom ROM will fix your problems? - In my experience, yes!
Best ROM to fix your issues - Personally I'd suggest OrDroidX or ARHD ROMs (ICS).
Warranty? - Will void your warranty, but personally I think this doesn't matter that much as long as you're not a klutz
Yes your phone is rootable/flashable/whaever.
You'll probably be wondering whether to go with ICS ROMs (eg. OrDroidX) / JB ROMs (eg. CM10)
ICS:
+ better battery life (very significant - can reach 2 days with 5 hrs+ screen on time depending on kernel)
+ more stable
- performance wise it's enough, but not as fast as JB ROMs
JB:
+ extremely powerful performance
- not as stable
- battery life sucks (lasts me 16 hours - about 2 hrs screen on time)
ICS: I recommend OrdroidX
JB: I recommend SlimBean
Custom Kernels:
1. Bricked - amazing battery life, low performance
2. Faux - less battery life, great performance
3. Ncx - somewhere in the middle
All these are based on my experiences

looks like the latest to me man.
Anyway, much has been fixed as you're running the latest version atm. You can backup your current ROM before installing a custom one and flashing a custom ROM should only enhance features, not affect them negatively.
i do get heat issues when i game, thats about it.
Thank you very much for your advice guys I definitely grow some balls and install and try each of those recommended Roms. You guys awesome and thanks for all your replies
I only got "overheating" issues on stock rom (vodafone / The Netherlands), after two updates the Hox was not gettin really warm anymore.
On Renovate rom i never had any issues! It never gets to warm, and battery life is awesome. Normal use gives me more than two days of use!
So don't worrie and enjoy the Hox!

[Q] Used One X Help

go here and try to match your phones stuff and UI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923016
if most of them doesn't match then i believe its a fake htc and this section is for real htc one x endevoru only(dont know if a fake htc one x section exists here lol)
Looks like a fake; here's a post from miui forums with a similar baseband-
Hello dear all. I'm newbie about installing ROM (Changing or replacing my phone's firmware).
I have a Chinese phone (Called A908) with stock android 4.0.3 on it. It seems the default ROM in it is MIUI. I want to install the last version of MIUI ROM but the problem is that my phone is not in the list of supported phones. So I have to find the ROM which is compatible to my phone. Please help me. My phones feature is:
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: MAUI.11. AMD.W11.50.sp.v13.P2,2012/04/25
Kernel version: 3.0.3 [email protected]#1
Build number: A908_A51ICS_76A0_V1_0_4_20120711
I think it's this one...
You got shafted.
Sent from...... The Milky Way
I'd be careful what you do to it. They seem to be unrootable at the moment, plus any factory reset will revert the phone to chinese language. Another guy here had the same phone, it appears(Android version 4.1.5, baseband beginning MAUI)

[Q] Where to Begin from Viper 4.0.1...

Hey folks, not new here but forgot a lot of the stuffs I learned long ago from not upgrading in a while. I pretty much stopped upgrading stuffs since i installed Viper One 4.0.1. I want to get back to the top with the freshest Viper One Rom but it looks like there's a lot of hoops for me to hop through now. Here's where i'm at currently:
Software Information:
Android Version: 4.4.2
HTC Sense Version 5.5
Software Number: Viper One 5.0.0
HTC SDK API Level: 5.68
Kernal Version: 3.4.10
Baseband Version: 1.12.41.1112_2
Build Number: 4.19.401.8
Hboot Information:
S-On
Hboot: 1.54.000
Radio: 1.12.41.1112_2
Recovery: TWRP v2.6.3.4
Looking to move up to current viper one i see i need stuff like current firmware, which requires S-Off, which looks very tricky. A simple list of stuff that needs to be done would be nice, lnks are more then welcomed...
BTW, I just flashed viper one 5.0.0 not knowing whether it'll work but looks like it is?

To gain s-off you'll need to use Sunshine by Jcase. Sunshine has a license fee of $25 To use sunshine you will need to be on a stock rom.
if you want to go s-off and are okay with paying the $25.
Back up your current phone nandroid and sd contents to a pc or mac
RUU back to 100% stock (this will wipe everything off the devices. make sure you backed everything up)
run sunshine
pay $25
achieve s-off
install custom recovery
install viper one 7.0.2
profit.
