Hey guys, quick question. I bought a. Sprint LG G2, and had Boost Mobile Re sku it so i could use it with their service. I know sprint is rolling out the lollipop update, so i was wondering if i would still receive the update being as the phone is unlocked, or do i have to manually update?

[Q] Unlocked T-Mobile user here, How do I install the Official JB update?

I've looked online and the sites I've seen have said to go through the OTA option in the settings. Since I'm with T-Mobile I cannot do this. Does anyone know how I can get it updated?
Or do I need to borrow my brother in laws iphone 5's sim card so I can get the update OTA?

[Q] Root + OTA

Hi! Its been awhile since i rooted my last android phone (Original Droid). So i forgot how to do everything and it seems like so much has changed.
I currently have Verizon LG G3 and i am planning on giving this phone to my mom who lives in S. Korea and use it under SK telecom (CDMA). But they use Band 5 as their LTE. And from what i know the only way i can make the G3 to use band 5 is through rooting the phone and going under commands.
So my question is, If I root my phone through stump or any other method, would she be able to receive ota updates and apply the updates without the phone going through boot loop?
Or would I be able to root install most stable custom rom that blocks the ota updates but pushes the update for the rom.
Thank you =]
Just dont install TWRP and you wont have bootloop after OTA. Root will be removed
And you need to plug in a Verizon Sim Card for OTA to show up unless you can find a captured OTA package and manually update it yourself using adb
would this phone only be able to get ota through Verizon? Im thinking if the phone is registered under Sk Telecom then it should receive Ota that is being pushed by them. And what is the best method that doesnt install TWRP?
Thank you for the reply.

Yes it only gets OTA through Verizon Sim. If you plug in a SK Telecom sim you will never get the verizon OTA
Root using the rooting tools such as ioroot, stumproot, towelroot, purpledrake
Okay thanks for the clarification

AT&T G4 showing 10g as the latest update. Unlocked and using on TMo. Help!

I tried using the LG Mobile support tool, but it is also showing 10g as the latest update. How do I get 10l? Please help!
You need have an AT&T sim in the phone to pull the update for any AT&T phone. Sucks but you should be able to get any at&t sim even if it is un activated and pull the update. You can download on wifi but it needs to check and makesure its is an AT&T phone first

Trying to upgrade Verizon G3 with T-Mobile SIM to Marshmallow

Hello,
I acquired a Verizon G3 as a gift a while back (weird story) but my primary phone has been a GSM Nexus 5 and I have been on T-Mobile service for a couple years now. I used the G3 as a second phone/tablet by just connecting to WiFi and using it for a camera/games/music device. My beloved Nexus 5 has become less reliable and I thought I would just switch to the G3 as my primary phone. I put my T-Mobile SIM card in the G3, manually entered the APN, and to my surprise, I connected to T-Mobile LTE immediately! Awesome! Now, the only thing keeping me from being satisfied with this device is that it is still running 4.4.2. I guess it never got an OTA simply because it never connected to the verizon network.
So my question is, is there a way to get the long-awaited OTA from T-Mobile or is it not compatible? Is my only option to root the phone and flash Marshmallow?
I appreciate the help!

There is no Marshmallow for the VS985 yet. 5.1.1 (35B) was rolled out a week or so ago. If it's flashed stock, it cannot be rooted, but there are pre-rooted custom roms available. Easiest way to go about it would be to KDZ flash back to 10B, root using stumproot, flash TWRP, and then install a 35B pre-rooted custom roms via recovery.
Check the Verizon LG G3 forum for more info.

Firmware

I bought a carrier unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P) online that ran Android 5.1.1. I used it here (not in NZ) and I wanted the Android 7.0 Nougat update but I couldn't update it OTA due to the fact that my phone was supposedly running on a custom software. So I flashed the (SM-G920P) 7.0 Firmware for Sprint but now I can't detect my mobile network. Also on the back of my phone, it says at the bottom "SM-G920R4". What do I need to do to get my mobile service again? A carrier unlocked phone can't lock again right?
If I'm correct, the g920r4 is on US Cellular
