Why is my battery so bad - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello, when I first bought this phone the battery life wasn't great. It was okay, maybe lasted a day. Now the battery barely lasts 4 hours. I am running CyanogenMod 12 which is android version 5.0.2. My device is rooted. I just don't understand why. Also say if I'm using my device it starts to get hot, and I mean very hot, I end up taking the battery out until its cooled.
Someone help please.
Thanks

hi !
normal ...
the problem with all Lollipop roms : it's not stable at all and sometime the battery is good but sometime there are big problems of drain ...unpredictable behavior ! all L roms are generaly umpredictable with buggs....
For now ,members use lollipop roms at their own risk ! like "alpha/beta testers" ...
It's still too young and have too many problems ...
If you want a great rom ,i suggest KK 4.4.4 ones (CM11 ,slimkat or pacman )
at this time i test pacman ( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=20808 ,link of official forum : http://forum.pac-rom.com/Thread-Pacman-I9195LTE-I91903G-9192duos-4-4-4-RC3-DEV )and it's really good ! :good:

-is cm9/10 stable here or there is some annoying known bugs ?
-the battery non-removal forms an issue (incase of brick or bootloop)?
-What is the most battery saving rom which also stable and better than stock ?
First thing you need to do is make sure that the one you buy is bootloader unlockable otherwise you'll be stuck with Sony based roms.
Cm9 and cm10 are very stable, 10.1 isn't too far off being stable either! I use it as a daily fine.
Overall best all round is PAC 19.3 i think currently. Battery life is great on it and it's soo fast to use.
Battery overall, it's a smart phone, it'll probably need charging every night

Is Cryo/DN4 the way to go?

Hi,
I would like to install a MOD which would treat my battery well and be fast. I do not need ever use the pen inside, nor do I need any fancy functions. Themes are of no real interest to me. I wonder though - are subsequent versions of mods faster than their predcessors? Say we got the same MOD, one is based on android 5.0 and one on 4.4.4 and one on 4.2.2 - is the latest also the fastest?
Please advise, as so far I am leaning towards the trodden path of Cryyo-gen-something-mod . Don't let me be mainstream... *puts on hipster glasses* .

now Remember that ( touchwiz will drain battrey alot - and will use alot of ram like 1.2 gb ( by default ) from 2 gb )
but aosp roms will take about 600-700 mega ( by default ) from 2gb ram
so now see what do you prefer and give it a try :fingers-crossed:
HOPE I HELPED YOU

samsung did invest heavily in battery optimization though. A aosp rom has almost no chances to reach the battery life of a debloated samsung rom. Moderate usage wanamlite 3.9 (jellybean) 3 days battery life. Aosp rom (they are mostly pretty similiar) leaves me with about 30 % after 12 hours.
If you don't use wifi a lot then go for lollipop. Got a decent 2 day battery life. If you enable wifi there are a lot of wakelocks existing, shortening battery life immensely

That's what i am talking about bro i used dn3 about 5 months and it was based on 4.4.2 kitkat with note 3 features ,, it's pretty but it is heat my phone alot when i use 'whatsapp or telegram' for normal chating use !! so thats sucks
i love dn3-4 but i want speedy rom with full of customization and stable battrey life !
Yeah bro (jellybean) have less features than (kitkat) so that make it win here !
in my opinion AOSP roms still better than Touchwiz :silly:
PEACE
Try Dr. Ketan ' s ROM. It will not disappoint

[Q] Pure Stock Kitkat VS Lollipop

Hey guys,

Do I go for update or do I stay on kitkat? (Will performancmce be reduced and will battery llife be worst on 5.0.1?)

First of all, I would update. I'm enjoying Lolly myself. No performance problems, and batter life is as good or maybe better that Kit-Kat.
Second of all, What carrier/version are you running? If you have the OTA downloaded and not installed yet, it could be valuable to other users.
It's eu version. I heard that lot of users complain about lollipop battery drain...
that's why have I concerned

The problem with lollipop is that the kernel and system eat a lot of battery, or at least more than on kitkat. If battery life is your concern, I personally would not recommend going on lollipop till 5.1 hits and see if it's fixed
though how you use your phone will still make the biggest impact
That being said you can still get great battery. Usage for me never goes bellow 5 hours of screen time with games and 4g and around 7 hours without games and wifi. I could do better on kitkat but I'm satisfied. Check this thread for battery life. I enjoy lollipop though since I upgraded, but I can't wait for an update to 5.1 and better battery

I have had no problems with drain, whatsoever. I'm not stock though, but on the stock kernel.

Best ROM for GT-I9082 - Your opinions?

Hi guys. How are you?
I hope you all doing well!
I just wanted to ask you what is the best ROM you used for GT-I9082?
I don't need any customization.. just need a stable ROM for the daily use. I mean the crushes and lags must be as little as possible!
The version of Android doesn't matter, the most important thing I want is that the battery life and charging should be good! :good:
Please give your opinions for me.
Thanks a lot.
Lineage os 13

What about battery life and charging? I'm currently using CM 12.1 and it takes a lot of time to be fully charged!:crying:

Best Battery life ROM

Hi everyone, im currently on Cdroid, and i need to charge mid day(i have the phone for over 3 years)
There are so many roms i cant pick
Which custom rom has the best battery life right now?
P.s did anyone managed to get the google assistant to work? I tried nikgapps and flamegapss but both didnt work
I wish there was an answer to this. Crdroid sucks big time on battery. On stock rom I got 30-40 hours. Now I barely get 15-20.
For me it's lineage 18 , and 11 stable and enough battery life , tried crdroid but it drains so fast so lineage is best for now
