Running an l900 Galaxy Note 2 with Rwilco12's Mostly Stock NE2 v1.3 ROM (KitKat 4.4.2) and philz_touch_6.48.4-l900. No matter what I do I can't seem to get root access and the SuperSU app won't install unless I grab it from the Play store and even then I don't get root access. I've tried rooting using CF-Auto-Root-t0ltespr-t0ltespr-sphl900.tar via Odin 3.7 and using Philz to re-root but no luck.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Try Philz 6.07.9.
Or I think TWRP 2.6.3.0 might work as well for recovery.

Hey guys,
I know there are tons of Superuser apps and root methods such as cf autoroot but I'm hoping someone knows is how to root the S4 (SGH-M919) and have Koush's Superuser.apk be your SU client. I don't want to use Chainfire or SuperSU or anything else. It seems 4.3 for me will only accept SuperSU but I was hoping to use the CWM Superuser as I do on all of my other devices. Would hate to have a different SU just on this one device. Any ideas on how to get superuser.apk working on 4.3 on the S4 (Stock, custom recovery, rooted with SuperSU for now).

Android 4.3 (MK2 full with KNOX through ODIN)
Don't care about tripping KNOX

Method 1
Use Odin to install a custom recovery of your choice.
Boot to recovery.
Flash any Superuser.apk you want.
Using Odin to install the recovery won't root the current ROM. It will just give you a custom recovery. From the custom recovery you can install anything you want, including the Superuser.apk of your choice.
Method 2
Root it using whatever root method works even if it installs SuperSU.
Uninstall SuperSU through the 1 click feature in the app.
Boot to your custom recovery. (Will NOT be automatically installed with CF Auto Root. You will have to flash a recovery after rooting)
Flash Superuser.
Reboot. Enjoy goodness.

Hey SkipJacks! Thanks for the quick reply. Method 2 seems to be the closest for me but it seems to be a no go with Koush's SuperUser. It looks like it relies on some binaries that never download and it won't use the ones that SuperSU installs. I guess I'm gonna have to use SuperSU for now. Thanks again. I just prefer Koush's to Chains and Chainfires. Everything was working fine on 4.2.2 but from 4.3 on it's only been SuperSU.
I'm beginning to think it's broken as many people are saying the same thing.
i cant get my stock ROM rooted i been trying to root my SM-N900T for the last 2 nights. ive tried CF-Auto Root and update-SuperSU threw CWM. i did get the CWM recovery installed with out a issue i just cant get it rooted. i want to put on a new ROM. can i just cut out the root and go straight to the ROM i want with CWM?
Cf auto root is flashed through Odin, not CWM. I started with cf auto root through odin, then twrp through odin, then roms through twrp.

This is my wife's phone. I have a note 3 running stock 4.4.2 successfully rooted with cf auto root.
Hers is the S3 koodo version. Cf auto root runs and completes the process same as it did on my note but doesn't actually install either the su binary or apk.
I've tried towel root, device not supported and every google-able trouble shooting option available for towel root to no avail.
Kingo is also a failure.
I can flash twrp or cwm with hopes of flashing su that way, but neither of them detect or mount any storage (internal/external SD, system/data/cache partitions) and upon reboot they are automatically reverted back to stock recovery somehow.
Has anyone else successfully rooted the s3 i747m running stock 4.4.2 and if so what method was used? Thanks.
Just to be clear. I've spent hours on google and on XDA including all 3 methods from the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787324
Can you load a custom recovery onto it?
Try using philz recovery. I've heard of that being successful when twrp and cwm have issues.

Never mind i got it will post exactly how even with new i747mvlufnk2 and how to get cwmr6.0.4.7 everything works fine stock tochwiz 4.4.2
Easiest way for me to to accomplish this was to flash Philz Touch recovery for the d2lte using the latest tar.md5 and Odin. Once Philz was flashed, I flashed supersu from Philz, rebooted, updated supersu binaries, and allowed supersu to disable knox.
I used c.f. root and it worked fine for me with the i747mvlufnk2 modem so i uploaded a stock rooted Rom to my Google drive incase anyone wants it StockBLOATED-i747m-02.22.2015.tar.gz

Where can i find latest Philz recovery and the Knox removal flash zip
Latest Philz can be downloaded from here:
Just install the latest supersu via recovery, Once you reboot the phone, supersu should ask to disable knox.

I had used cf-auto-root to root my note 2 running build number KOT49H.I317MVLUDNH2 (koodo 4.4.2 stock). Worked great no issues, after root I used flashify to install twrp-2.8.7.0-t0lteatt.img.
My issue is recently I noticed an update from koodo (KOT49H.I317MVLUDNH3). Using kies I installed this update, which caused the phone to loose its root. I tried using cf-auto-root to root the phone again but no supersu.
Can anyone point me to a root method that will work with the new update? Notice the difference is the 3 at the end of the build, the os version remains 4.4.2.
Thanks in advance
You could just flash supersu via Odin or TWRP and you'll have it back again...
Also....2.8.7.0 is a bit buggy atm...so 2.8.6.0 may be a better choice...g

how do you flash supersu ?
I tried to root my galaxy note 2 using odin 3.10.7 and it was successful but after checking "about device" at the very bottom it says my phone is official which it is not, it was rooted successfully so I don't know why it is saying that. Also, supersu was not installed immediately after rebooting from odin, I had to manually download supersu from the play store. When I open up supersu, it says "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
What can I do ? thanks
Flash twrp to the note 2 via Odin. Then flash supersu.zip from twrp.
