i cant get my stock ROM rooted i been trying to root my SM-N900T for the last 2 nights. ive tried CF-Auto Root and update-SuperSU threw CWM. i did get the CWM recovery installed with out a issue i just cant get it rooted. i want to put on a new ROM. can i just cut out the root and go straight to the ROM i want with CWM?
Cf auto root is flashed through Odin, not CWM. I started with cf auto root through odin, then twrp through odin, then roms through twrp.

Ok,
So I recently updated to the stock 4.1.2 image, and I wanted to root because I have always read it was best to have the latest base before rooting. I was able to root using the guides on here, but everything kept force closing and i was unable to do anything with the phone, so i went back to stock because of the problems. What i think was happening was that the rooted image I was using was 4.1.1, and i need 4.1.2.
Could anyone point me to where the 4.1.2 image is that i need to root is so that i can root correctly?
Well, I don't know which method you used before or how you plan on rooting now, but on 4.1.2,
Cf auto root still works.
Casual root still works.
Flashing recovery through Odin then supersu through recovery still works,
I've done them all.
What doesn't work is the No Tripping the flash counter (by flashing the root injected image) root, rooting with motochopper, or the root your phone with your phone root.
You probably know that you need Odin (3.07 preferably) no matter what you do, except I think for Casual;
and also yes you probably flashed a 4.1.1 image over your 4.1.2 data, but a factory reset should have fixed that.
They also have a rooted stock Rom somewhere in the development section if you want it, once you have a custom recovery.

Hi,
I signed up just to get help because I'm extremely frustrated.I have gotten the Kit Kat update for my t-mobile s4 and now I can't root my phone again. I have tried to root my phone using Chainfire Auto root md5 file (jfltetmo-sghm919.tar.md5) & Odin 3.09. I have follow the simple directions as I'm done several times before to flash the root files onto my phone then Odin tells me that it passed. but when i tested with root checker app, the app along with other apps that request superuser permissions, tells me that my device is not rooted. I have tried to root my phone several times using different computers and I have no clue why my phone will not root. in download mode my device states that the knox void has been tripped & the binary is custom. this leaves me scratching my head please help!
What firmware is on your phone?

Have you updated the binary? You could also try using towel root
Try downloading a recovery from CWM or TWRP in TAR format and flashing that in Odin.
That will give you a custom recovery.
Then boot into recovery and flash a Superuser.zip from there. (If you use TWRP recovery you don't even need the superuser.zip. TWRP will tell you that you aren't rooted when you boot it and ask it you want TWRP to root it for you.)
Hi,
Thanks for all the responses... I solved it.. somehow my update for kit-kat via kies prevented me from rooting my phone again. But when I flashed the stock kit-kat update onto my phone using odin, the rooting process using the auto root file from chainfire & odin work! So this solution may work for others...
This is my wife's phone. I have a note 3 running stock 4.4.2 successfully rooted with cf auto root.
Hers is the S3 koodo version. Cf auto root runs and completes the process same as it did on my note but doesn't actually install either the su binary or apk.
I've tried towel root, device not supported and every google-able trouble shooting option available for towel root to no avail.
Kingo is also a failure.
I can flash twrp or cwm with hopes of flashing su that way, but neither of them detect or mount any storage (internal/external SD, system/data/cache partitions) and upon reboot they are automatically reverted back to stock recovery somehow.
Has anyone else successfully rooted the s3 i747m running stock 4.4.2 and if so what method was used? Thanks.
Just to be clear. I've spent hours on google and on XDA including all 3 methods from the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787324
Can you load a custom recovery onto it?
Try using philz recovery. I've heard of that being successful when twrp and cwm have issues.

Running an l900 Galaxy Note 2 with Rwilco12's Mostly Stock NE2 v1.3 ROM (KitKat 4.4.2) and philz_touch_6.48.4-l900. No matter what I do I can't seem to get root access and the SuperSU app won't install unless I grab it from the Play store and even then I don't get root access. I've tried rooting using CF-Auto-Root-t0ltespr-t0ltespr-sphl900.tar via Odin 3.7 and using Philz to re-root but no luck.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Try Philz 6.07.9.
Or I think TWRP 2.6.3.0 might work as well for recovery.
[Solved, Read next Post] Hey guys, bought an S4 for wife and would like to root it. Read everywhere to root but not for this baseband version, FOK3. Even tried Odin 3.07 to install twrp then SU. I couldn't get the recovery tar to stick and was hung up on downloading mode. Does anybody know the proper steps and links to root this newly updated phone? I don't want to brick this puppy. Thanks.
[Solved] So I Downloaded CF- Auto-Root for the sgh-m919 Build ID NH7. I said F' it and went for it......Went into download mode, ran Odin that was included in CF Auto Root folder and loaded the .tar file and it actually worked! I rebooted and had SU with stock recovery. Then I went into download mode again and and flashed twrp via Odin. Even made a nandroid right away. Bam....custom recovery and rooted!!!! So if anybody is on the latest stock OTA FOK3 Build....this will work.
