Hey i jus got a s3 i747m. And its been updated to latest firmware I747MVLUFNK2 and i want to root it and get rid of KNOX how would i go about this i know cf-root (d2can since it a Canadian Bell mobility (BMC) Model should work but apparently it does not for this firmware i also need a twrp recovery

Never mind i got it will post exactly how even with new i747mvlufnk2 and how to get cwmr6.0.4.7 everything works fine stock tochwiz 4.4.2
Easiest way for me to to accomplish this was to flash Philz Touch recovery for the d2lte using the latest tar.md5 and Odin. Once Philz was flashed, I flashed supersu from Philz, rebooted, updated supersu binaries, and allowed supersu to disable knox.
I used c.f. root and it worked fine for me with the i747mvlufnk2 modem so i uploaded a stock rooted Rom to my Google drive incase anyone wants it StockBLOATED-i747m-02.22.2015.tar.gz

Where can i find latest Philz recovery and the Knox removal flash zip
Latest Philz can be downloaded from here:
Just install the latest supersu via recovery, Once you reboot the phone, supersu should ask to disable knox.

If you got it today most likely it does NOT have the newest firmware.
Check the BASEBAND in your phone and check if it ends with a MDB or a MDL.
If it ends with MDL then you have the latest Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware.
There is no Odin flashable pre-rooted MDL firmware available yet.
The easiest way to gain root access is to first install Goomanager
which is a free app from the playstore.
After you install Goomanager click the menu button and select "installopenrecoveryscript" and
when it gets done doing that you will see in goomanager an option to reboot into recovery (Twrp custom touch recovery)
But unless you have Odin flashed the latest MDL firmware I suggest you do not install Goomanger yet.
If you do it prior to Odin flashing the latest MDL firmware you will just have to install goomanger again.
Once you have odin flashed the stock mdl rom and you have installed goomanager and flashed the
openrecoveryscript in goodmanager download a custom cwm/twrp flashable zip file rom and copy it
to your internal sdcard then flash it in twrp recovery, once it's flashed you will be automatically rooted.
The best custom rom available at the present time is Wicked v3, it's a Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 MDL based rom.
So the first thing to do is to Odin flash the latest MDL stock firmware.
Be sure to go into recovery and do a full wipe including factory reset, wipe system, wipe cache and dalvik cache
before Odin flash of the stock firmware.

You are RIGHT, I almost forgot.. (I did forget)
You need to flash the Odin flashable TAR file "TWRP" first, then after
the custom rom is flashed is when you should install goomanager
and then the custom rom.
Good luck with it.

Thank you to all im going to keep the stock rom I just need to delete some bad tmobile apps otherwise this phone is perfect
I'm also going with stock rooted, using Chainfire's CF-auto-root flashed with Odin. I am rooted(titanium backup works) but I can't get seem to figure out why I can't remove bloatware(system apps) with es file Explorer. Let us know if you figure something out to remove the bloatware.

I have a Canadian Telus provided GalaxyIII SGH-I747M, it is rooted, twrp recovery installed and I am confused when it comes looking for compatible roms. I get conflicting information everywhere but have narrowed it down to I can use ATT roms on my Telus phone, please confirm this. My question is, my twrp recovery downloaded the d2can build but ATT is d2att, do I need to change this in my recovery (if possible), or just leave it at d2can to install ATT roms. If my terminology is off I apologize (noob).
Thanks for your time.
Look at the bootloaders in the updater-script of the custom ROM you want to install. If you see your bootloader, you should be fine.
The latest version of TWRP for your phone can flash a ROM designed for the d2att.
I had problems with TWRP so I switched to the latest version of Philz Touch which can be flashed via Odin or from TWRP.
I had rooted my samsung galaxy s3 with cf auto root with the ND8 firmware and now i updated it to sprints latest minor update NJ2 with KIES i was wondering if i could revert back using cf autoroot so i can have my device rooted or if there is a way to root it with the latest firmware I have now?

I recently upgraded my BMC S3 from a rooted 4.3 to 4.4.2 - FNK2
I then realized there doesn't seem to be a good process for rooting that version.
It looks like I can root 4.4.2 - FNH2 though.
Is it possible to downgrade without bricking the phone?
Downgrading will brick the phone.
If you want root, just flash Philz d2lte recovery and flash supersu from recovery.

So...i need to use d2lte for the d2can phone then?
Before the s3 builds were unified, there was separate software for the d2can (i747m) and d2att (i747). Since unification, ROMs for the s3 are interchangeable, thus the change to the d2lte moniker.
I pulled the trigger and installed it...it was surprisingly simple...thanks a bunch!
I had used cf-auto-root to root my note 2 running build number KOT49H.I317MVLUDNH2 (koodo 4.4.2 stock). Worked great no issues, after root I used flashify to install twrp-2.8.7.0-t0lteatt.img.
My issue is recently I noticed an update from koodo (KOT49H.I317MVLUDNH3). Using kies I installed this update, which caused the phone to loose its root. I tried using cf-auto-root to root the phone again but no supersu.
Can anyone point me to a root method that will work with the new update? Notice the difference is the 3 at the end of the build, the os version remains 4.4.2.
Thanks in advance
You could just flash supersu via Odin or TWRP and you'll have it back again...
Also....2.8.7.0 is a bit buggy atm...so 2.8.6.0 may be a better choice...g

how do you flash supersu ?
I tried to root my galaxy note 2 using odin 3.10.7 and it was successful but after checking "about device" at the very bottom it says my phone is official which it is not, it was rooted successfully so I don't know why it is saying that. Also, supersu was not installed immediately after rebooting from odin, I had to manually download supersu from the play store. When I open up supersu, it says "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!"
What can I do ? thanks
Flash twrp to the note 2 via Odin. Then flash supersu.zip from twrp.
