Hey all,
I tried to do a decent search before asking, so I apologize if this has been asked and my search skills aren't all that I though they were...
I have the T-Mobile Galaxy S III and I am loving it (came from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus). One of the reasons for my upgrade is the Bluetooth 4.0 support. To go with this, I recently purchased a Polar H7 Bluetooth heart rate monitor (Bluetooth 4.0 LE).
After failing an attempt to pair (phone will see the hardware address, but trying to pair returns an 'invalid pin or code'. A similar attempt on my Nexus 7 met with the same results.
A search of the internet (and the Amazon forums) returned information that there is not a Bluetooth 4.0 API for Android 4.0 (or 4.1);

Apparently the Galaxy S III (and the Nexus 7) has a Bluetooth 4.0 capable radio, but Google has not provided access to this as of yet. It also appear that Motorola had written custom drivers for the RAZR and the Droid 4 to enable their devices Bluetooth 4.0 support.
It was my misunderstanding that the Galaxy S III has Bluetooth support; I read the Engadget review and assumed that it was already there with ICS. (I tried the latest JB leak and still no luck on 4.0)
Does anyone have any insight as to when Google may release Bluetooth 4.0 drivers? Or is it possible for someone to extract the Motorola drivers and re-work them for other devices?

I understand your frustration and it sucks, try to contact Samsung I guess, and btw engadget says that's just because of specifications not bacuse they actually tested, if you read the review it didn't say it was tested at all so yeah, some reason why I never believe reviews lol

Hello, I have a sprint galaxy nexus and I would like to know how I can get bluetooth info working on my car's radio. I know the radio will display info because it does work with the iphone 5. If anyone knows of a way to make it work(my preferred solution as I really like my current rom - jbsourcery 5.1) or a rom that it works on that would be very helpful.
Thank you
Hi, the original specs for the Nitro show a Bluetooth 3.0 radio. Has anyone running an Android 4.3 or above ROM tested a Bluetooth 4.0/Smart/BLE device, for example a heart rate strap, to see if the radio is actually capable of running above 3.0?
Hi anyone else having issues pairing to Ble devices... Eg heart rate monitor?
I am running CM12. 1.1 normal Bluetooth pairing doesn't see these devices.... I was starting to think p8000 not really Bluetooth 4 compliant....
But apps like Ble tool off play store allow me to see these devices and even display heart rate....
But many apps appear to need paired devices to work Eg Runtastic strava etc.... But I can't pair....
Any advice...?
I know it synced to my truck fast and no problems. I haven't tried my BT headphones yet. Speakers on phone so good I don't want to put headphones on. Anyone try 2 different devices or 3 as per developer options choices.
Hi,
Can you confirm the it is Bluetooth 5.0 and not 4.2? Thanks.
