[Q] dead tab?? - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

dead tab??
Today I tried to boot up the tab that was running cm12 night, and it won't...
tried to boot while in charge, but it doesn't seem to charge at all; tried with all possible combination of key to hold when attempting booting.
any hint guys?

does the screen come on at all? Sounds like Sleep of Death to me. Most likely related to the tab not having enough voltage to wake itself back up. I believe there is a fix out there for this, but i would ty booting into DL mode, or recovery and see if you can get it fixed. Or you can force a reboot by holding in power+volume down+Volume up.

already did try that... I'm quite sure is Sleep of Death, I couldn't boot in download or recovery mode, it didn't charge and so on.
The thing I did that resolved the issue was opening the tab, by detaching the back cover and unplug the battery connector for 30 min.
That fixed it, but it's for sure an unpleasent fix...
thanks for help though!

[Q] Tried Flashing ICS now my Phone is BRICKED HELP!

So I first heard about the ported ICS rom on Galaxys2root.com So I downloaded and flashed the file from there which was about 300mbs. Flashed then got stuck in a bootloop. I was able to restore a backed up rom. I thought it might've been the wrong rom so I found a thread here with ICS ROM. Flashed it... same boot loop problem except the first rom boot halfway to a att boot screen. this one just stayed black. At first power button turned on the phone to a battery screen but then turned black.. no animations followed. Now the phone is not responded to any button pushes. It just vibrates intermittently when I plug it in to my charger. It had maybe 35% battery life when it got caught in the boot loop the second time. I'm thinking since the power button was working at first that maybe the intermittent vibrating is because my battery is now dead and it won't charge? Is that possible or is my phone just fuqed? Some one please help!!!!!!!! p.s sorry for the long post.

Seems like you messed up on wipes. I had different problem when i didnt wipe well. The link you posted from this forum is not usable ICS. Try to get ur phone on download mode and flash via odin.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, I read later on in that thread that I was supposed to perform a super wipe. Also I can't get my phone into download mode. It won't even turn on. It just vibrates maybe every 3 seconds when I plug it in to charge. When its not plugged in it won't do anything.
Try using a different cable to get into download mode. Specifically an LG cable. I've heard of this working for other people.

Yes I've tried pulling the battery. Does nothing except vibrate when i plug it in to charge. still won't turn on. Why is the vibrate a good thing?

Any kind of response from the phone is a good thing. Worst case scenario is phone literally doesn't do anything or respond to any type of stimulus.
So I'm assuming you know how to access CWM and download mode but just in case there's some confusion, here's how I always access them:
CWM - hold power and volume +/- buttons until phone vibrates then keep holding all (do not let go) until CWM appears. (Others don't have to keep holding after the vibrate, but when I first flashed my phone it wouldn't boot into recovery unless I kept the buttons depressed until CWM actually appeared)
Download - (phone powered off already) hold volume +/- buttons (not power); plug in USB cable (still holding buttons); wait for vibrate (still holding buttons); download mode screen appears (release buttons only after this point)
If nothing else works, you can always try sending it back to Samsung/Tmobile to see if they'll replace it for you. If you can't get it to odin/download mode then chances are good that they won't be able to tell that it was rooted and thus would have no reason to void your warranty.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, raver's AOSP ICS ROM (the second one you flashed) doesn't have boot animation support so it's supposed to stay black on boot. Experimental ROMs especially may take a long time for first boot so you should always not touch it for at least 10 minutes before you try any kind of battery pull or powering off.
there are a lot of threads about people having problems when following instructions on galaxys2root.com

I'm Back In The Game!!! The weirdest thing happened. So I went to my friends house and put my battery in his s2 to see if it had any life and it was. I threw it back in my phone and for some reason it booted up to the ROM I flashed. ICS was beautiful on it but I immediately went back to my recovery rom lol. Lesson learned. Thanks guys for the help this was my first time posting a problem on this forum and I love how quick everybody is to help.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Can be a pretty scary experience. Remember: patience is your friend, especially the first time you boot to a new ROM. If you think the boot screwed up, the best way to ENSURE that it screws up is to power it off/pull battery. Always wait 10 minutes before touching it.

Phone Will Not Power On

I have been following the CM10 preview for quite sometime and, when it was needed, would do a clean install from the recovery.
The most recent build 8/12 I flashed without a clean install and was having some random restarts.
When I tried to call someone it stayed at the call screen and did not make any sounds.
After a couple seconds the screen went black(I thought another random restart) and will not power back on.
When I hold the power button for 2 seconds it will vibrate and the screen will stay black.
I've tried entering recovery mode and download mode but nothing seems to work.
I planned on when I got home doing a clean install and starting fresh but it seems I might be too late.
Is this a brick? Can it be fixed? and what other information is needed? Open to all constructive suggestions.

Maybe your screen died?
Does it power on without the display or does it try to power on but doesn't?
Sometimes it IS recognizable by ODIN but there is no display, try that.
it all that fails, then you MIGHT have a brick on your hands, which would be very unfortunate.
but give it a try

Once on my gnex it wouldnt power on but it was still recognizable by ODIN
sounds like a dead battery
Noticed that build of cm10 actin weird as well. That bein said this issue sounds like the battery is dead, not the screen. I would try. To plug it in for a bit. Bet it sits and just vibrates over and over. That how u no the battery is dead. I hate it. That bein said its not bricked
This happened to me as well they plugging it into ur charger and holding the power button if that doesn't work remove the battery for a few and then pop it back it and to to boot into recovery I that my phone was dead as well.

[Q] Stuck on Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen

Any thoughts here, so far have come up with nothing. I was running odin trying to update and got interupted partially through the process. I'm able to boot the phone on, however it quickly flashes the Samsung screen then proceeds to the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen where it hangs. I can't boot into recovery, I can't boot into download mode. All I can do is power the phone on and get stuck on this screen. It hangs there until I pull the battery. I've tried every combination possible to boot into recovery & download mode to no avail. If I plug the phone into my computer I can't get it to be recognized since its stuck on this screen. I don't think it's bricked since i'm able to power on, just stuck.
Any thoughts?
If you can still turn it on you can definitely get to download mode. Make sure you're doing the combo right..

Thanks for the quick reply, I like your confidence although I'm still skeptical. I do think I've tried all of the combos to get into download mode but I'm still not getting past the Samsung GS3 screen. Can you tell me which is the "right" combo?
Thanks

I've seen a borked recovery but never seen a borked download mode unless the phone was bricked which isn't the case here since it still powers on. The combo is vol-down+home+power then volume up at the warning screen

That combo is not working. No matter how long/short I hold it or how long/short I wait after the battery pull it still goes straight to the GS3 Logo and hangs forever. I think its bricked. Maybe I need to try a usb jig...

Well I'm sure it's not bricked but this is the first time I've heard a jig mentioned and I don't wanna pull my hair out cuz of a stupid comment. A jig would definitely do the trick here. I assume you don't have one so a word of advice : use Ebay. And buy from someone in the states. Its more than worth the few extra bucks.
I agree that your phone is more than likely not bricked like you may think. You need to hold down the 3 key combo until the screen actually powers on and then let them go. It takes a good 5-7 seconds after the phone vibrates before the screen powers on and then let them go. It should go into download mode and if you still can't get it then sometimes having someone else try it is all it takes.... but most definetly your phone is not hard bricked if it powers on.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. At this point I'm going to have to send it in to mobiltech to have them hopefully revive it using their JTAG services.
I had this problem today.....
After much gnashing of teeth and swearing and being unable to use the generic android recovery due to removing my power button (don't ask) I flashed CWM with odin then used Android Toolkit to restart into recovery, wiped the cache, rebooted and Bob's your Mother's brother everything is rosy in the garden again................

[q] at&t s3 dead

I was rooted with CM10.1.0 and was casually using the phone until it randomly turned off. I turned it back on and the only thing that happened was the "Galaxy SIII" screen flashed and turned off again. I popped out the battery multiple times to be welcomed with the same problem again. I can't boot into Download or Recovery at all. Anyone know how to fix this? (btw im on AT&T SGH-i747)
Try another battery.

Please don't provide false or miss leading information.
To OP. Fully charge your battery or use another one if its corrupt.
Try booting up into both recovery or download mode using the proper combination.
Use this guide to get your phone fully working again.

In some instance (very rare) your phones hardware can malfunction, but seeing how it still boots up I doubt its that's.
Follow my guide and you should be fine.

What about with it plugged into the charger and try to get to download mode. I thought I bricked my s2, took the battery out but it stayed on. Thought it was possesd bit it was plugged in to USB.
Can't hurt to try.
Definitely recommend download mode with cable plugged in to computer. Are you sure recovery doesn't work while plugged in to power?

Yep. It just loops on the splash screen. I'll try charging it to full and repeating your solutions. (It died off at 80%, very strange). Thanks for your replies though!
Ok guys, seems that my issue isnt the phone being bricked. I left the battery out all night and popped it in the next morning. CM loaded just fine. However after about 10 seconds of it loading, the power menu flashed, i clicked cancel, and then it immediately shut down again, and the usual problem continued. Any thoughts? (btw the phone died at 80% battery the first shut down it had, right now it should have been nearly 100% after charging) Also, connecting it via USB doesn't help at all. Sometimes the blue recovery words flash when i try to boot into recovery, but nothing happens after that.

It could be a bad battery. Might also be the battery contact points. Worse case is something is wrong with power channels on the Mobo. If it is the last then you will have to warranty the phone if you're still covered. I would borrow a battery first to rule out whether or not it is the battery itself.

The power button seems to operate normally, but that could also be one of the things that are causing problems. Once i find someone nearby with an S3 battery i'll see if it's actually a battery problem (most likely the case).
I'd thought i'd mention this as well, whenever i pop in the battery, the phone vibrates and tries to turn on, but doesnt actually do it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? power button maybe, but battery?
If the battery out all night boots past the splash screen maybe you could, if you haven't, leaving it out and first thing try download mode. I've been in bad spots but this pretty crappy. Probably to technical for me but Good luck. Let us know how you do if none of the posts help.
Found the problem. The power button is always acting as if it's being pushed down when it actually isnt. The phone starts up perfectly when i hold the phone horizontally with the power button facing down. then when i put it back into portrait mode, the power menu flashes, and its turns off. any knowledge on how to fix this then?

Um I'd say taking apart the phone or mailing back for warranty even try taking it to an att store.. Its hardware and not software so they should replace it

[Q]Unable to boot into Download or recovery mode

I was using my Galaxy S2(SGH-T-989) normally today and it suddenly crashed when I opened my tether app. Now all it does is reboot constantly unless I remove its power source/battery. Sometimes the Samsung logo pops up but the screen just stays black and the phone constantly vibrates like its turning on. I tried to boot into both download mode and recovery mode withe every possible key combination and it does not work.
I also tried removing the battery and let it sit a while without power and then put the battery back in. As soon as i put the battery in it starts up in the loop again.
running Clockwork recovery mod and cyanogen
Any assistance would be appreciated.

same thing with a wall charger. It just vibrates like it starts up and sometimes a samsung logo will appear but it then boots up again and again.
