FireOS 4.6.1 OTA is live - Amazon Fire Phone

Downloading right now
EDIT
OTA seems selectively pushed only to some users, but OS can be downloaded from their servers!
download links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60168413&postcount=37
EDIT 2 LINKS ARE DEAD. AMAZON PULLED 4.6.1
EDIT 3 Amazon started OTA OS rollout in Europe. Some Deutsche telekom and O2 UK customers confirmed update.

My System Updates says "No updates found". Any idea if they are rolling this out for everyone, or if there's a manual download link?

Great news! No update here yet. Could you please share if any ui changes after upgrade ?

I have deutsche telekom fire phone, unlocked with code provided from them. No UI changes that I can see. I wasvdriving from work till now so I dodnt have time to play with device. I can only notice lockscreen notifications change. Now they have few lines of text beside icons.

Homescreen wallpaper can be changed now

Smart dialing!!! But still no persistent notifications on top panel. Still no notification when phone set on silent.? yeah, there are new emoticons?

Lame. The one day that I decide to carry my SGS3 with me.
ATT's Fire Phone Software update page isn't updated to reflect this latest update. just yet.

I've installed google framework, google services, google account and playstore. On previous OS version 3.6.6 google play store was crashing. I havent played much but I successfully installed google drive. Now almost all my apps are upgrading (apps from amazon store). Yeah, I didnt notice this before, but keyboard is slightly changed. Letters are thicker.

chalx, some apps from the amazon app store don't work after they are updated through google play. You may want to turn off google play auto update.

Thanks for a tip. I must check...

You are right, twitter, instagram, and few other "updated" apps are wiped from device

Is google maps working fine now? With previous OS 3.6.8 there was a problem with labels.

I've downloaded maps and cant see anything weird. Labels seem fine

I'm certain that somebthings still won't work - there is some app for easy locating of atms, its reliant on google services and it won't work. I thought its because I didnt have maps but it still won't work.

No update for UK O2

new notifications

Finally, adjustable data speed settings under network settings. 2G, 3G, LTE

Hi, being a betatester for this great app would be nice.
... but on the other hand being able to actually use it since I paid for it before it was pulled from the Marketplace to be later returned as a "different" app to force users to pay again would be even nicer
Wait, Is this an official google maps app, Doesnt sound like it, If it is, They should have used "Google Maps" instead of "gMaps"..
i cannot explore streets in street view, the app show me only the picture of my position but i cannot "walk" through the streets... is this a limit of the app?

I have been using 1.24 for some time without problem but now when I tap on friends list it says I have no friends setup and to add friends via Google Latitude on a desktop pc.
When I sign into Latitude on my pc all my friends are visible, I have uninstalled and re-installed but its still the same.
Is anyone else having problems?

Yes. It gargled yet again. Thank G00gle.

This is an older version of wallet. It's the one before google broke it.
It will only work if you have it working already. If you have the newest one working, don't try this one
The device check has been removed
If you don't have it working now, don't ask how to. I have no idea yet, until my rom updates and I'm going to try a few things.
To install
FIRST AND FORMOST. MAKE DOUBLE SHORE YOUR PLAYSTORE IS NOT SET UP TO AUTO UPDATE APPS, TURN NOTIFICATIONS OFF ALSO IN PLAYSTORE. THIS IS A MOST, IF YOU DONT, THE APP WILL UPDATE AND IT IS RENDERED USELESS.
Download
Delete your old one and replace it with this one all at the same time. Fix permissions
It most be in system/app
Reboot.
Should work
You take all risks if it doesn't.
DONT COMPLAIN IF ITS BROKE.
If you do it right, it won't break. I've done hundreds of times.
Transparent wallet
Brb
Just an FYI, if you choose to try any mooded playstore and you have to unistall playstore first. The new playstore default to auto update and wallet updated in a blink of an eye. This is why many wallets got broke. I also believe that Google settings app that came with Google plus has allot to do with this entire mess.

Unable to verify account information

So yesterday I installed the Freedom app so that I could test whether or not one of my apps was hackable with the in-app purchases. Of course to use Freedom, I had to install the Market switcher app to switch my market to Russian before Freedom would even work. What a process that turned out to be... anyway...
After testing the app I used the "Stop" function for Freedom and then used that same market switcher app to revert back to my original market. When I went into the Play Store after using those apps, it was giving me an error. This is the error it was giving me:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So I decided to reformat my phone and re-install CM10 with the franco kernel. After getting my phone back up and running I'm getting the exact same error message on the Play Store. I figured re-installing my rom would fix the problem, but of course, it didn't. I'm getting the error any time I try to purchase something on the Play Store. I can still download free apps all day long, but I can't purchase anything.
I went to the Wallet website and I don't see anything wrong with my profile. I've tried clearing the data and cache of the "Google Play services" as well as the Play Store as well as uninstalling my Google profile and re-adding it. I have no idea what to do any more...
Can I get some assistance with this? I've searched everywhere and everything I've found says the same thing. Clear the data and cache of Google apps, remove profile, re-add profile, etc, etc. Everything I've tried. I'm t a loss.
Does the app still show on your installed/recent apps list on the play store?
Have you tried flashing back to stock through factory images?
Have you tried contacting Google support about it?

It does show the list of my installed apps in the "My apps" section as well as the "All" tab that shows everything I've ever installed. If what you're asking is if the app that changes the market shows under the app list, then no, it doesn't. I had to download that app from a website and load it to my phone manually because it isn't available in the Play Store. Neither of the two apps that screwed this whole system up are available in the store.
I have not tried to flash back to factory and I have not contacted Google support. I posted a message on the Google "forums" about it here:
http://productforums.google.com/for...roid-devices/android-applications/ZeBvp3MZkiw
But of course the only replies you ever get there are the "ME TOO!" replies with hardly any helpful support.
EDIT:
Hold on just a damn minute here... I went to the Google Wallet support section of the Google website and now it's showing me that my account is suspended due to not being able to verify my identity with the credit/debit card on file. I recently had my debit card stolen and it was cancelled by my bank, so I'm assuming that's what is probably causing this issue. I'll upload the documents they're asking for there and see if it resolves the issue and report back here.

Google Play Services battery drain on S9?

Hello, i have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and from 2 weeks i have a problem with Google Play Services app which is listed first in battery usage viewer:

I have only default applications + Waze + WhatsApp and Steam. I tried to wipe cache on Google Play Services, i tried to remove my Google Account and add it again, and also i tried factory reset. However, Google Play Services is still the first battery drain.
Is this normal? Can i do something to fix this?
Thank you!

Try becoming a Beta tester for Google Play Services, it will download the latest beta for you, I've been running the beta since the S7 and had no battery drain from it

Me neither.
Thank you for replies!
If i become a beta tester for Google Play Services, can i turn back to normal version if the app is unstable?
Is this problem (G Play Services drain battery) a common one on S9 at least? Is it only software related or can be "the whole phone" (hardware)?

Yes you can, and I haven't heard of this problem before
I joined Google Play Services Beta program but i don't see improvements... It still using a lot of resources/battery...
I uninstalled Waze too (thought it wants access to location in the background) but still no improvements...
Is there something else i can do? I hope it's not a hardware/device problem...

Try uninstalling the apps you've installed and see if it helps. If it does, then try adding them back one at a time. You could try something like Gsam Battery Monitor and see what's draining the battery.

General XDA Article: Google Play Store’s app installation progress is now visible on your home screen

https://www.xda-developers.com/play-stores-app-installation-progress-visible-on-home-screen/
My comment on it:
I'm not clear on if I can expect this if I don't opt to have my Home Screen / Launcher of choice to automatically add icons for newly installed apps to my Home Screen. For that matter, I'm wondering if this also depends on which launcher I use, or does it require custom launchers to implement anything on their end?

Play Store install progress looks to be fully rolled out on Android 11+ devices (both Pixel and non-Google phones) we checked today (h/t Artem Russakovskii on Twitter). There were some reports of more users starting to see the capability a month or so ago, but wide availability only occurred in recent days.

Google Play Store’s app installation progress is now visible on your home screenWhen iOS users download an app, an icon of it appears on the home screen — with a progress circle reflecting its status. This behavior allows users to quickly check the status of apps that are actively downloading or installing on their iPhones. It appears that Google has finally caught up with the other platform. The company has started offering a similar indictor on Android 11+ devices. Users downloading an app from the Play Store can now see an indicator on their home screens that displays the installation progress.

As per a 9to5Google report, users running Android 11 or later on their phones should be able to see the new installation progress indicator when downloading apps from the Play Store. The execution is similar to that of iOS, featuring grayed-out icons and downloading/installing labels right below them. At the time of writing, the downloading label is cut off on some devices — as the screenshot above displays. Google will likely fix this bug in a future update.
The Play Store allows users to download only one app at a time. Those installing several apps simultaneously will see a pending label below queued apps. Interestingly, users are allowed to move the grayed-out icons before they’re actually installed. So they can customize their home screens without needing to wait. It’s worth noting, though, that these gray icons only appear on the home screen — and not on the main app list.
This addition is a very welcome one from the company. That’s because it gives a better visual of the progress, especially for those with a cluttered notification sheet. Users will no longer need to search for the sticky Google Play Store notification to check an app’s installation progress.
Do you see this change on you phone? If so, what version of Android are you running? Let us know in the comments section below.
