Hello, i have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and from 2 weeks i have a problem with Google Play Services app which is listed first in battery usage viewer:

I have only default applications + Waze + WhatsApp and Steam. I tried to wipe cache on Google Play Services, i tried to remove my Google Account and add it again, and also i tried factory reset. However, Google Play Services is still the first battery drain.
Is this normal? Can i do something to fix this?
Thank you!

Try becoming a Beta tester for Google Play Services, it will download the latest beta for you, I've been running the beta since the S7 and had no battery drain from it

Me neither.

Thank you for replies!
If i become a beta tester for Google Play Services, can i turn back to normal version if the app is unstable?
Is this problem (G Play Services drain battery) a common one on S9 at least? Is it only software related or can be "the whole phone" (hardware)?

Yes you can, and I haven't heard of this problem before

I joined Google Play Services Beta program but i don't see improvements... It still using a lot of resources/battery...
I uninstalled Waze too (thought it wants access to location in the background) but still no improvements...
Is there something else i can do? I hope it's not a hardware/device problem...

Try uninstalling the apps you've installed and see if it helps. If it does, then try adding them back one at a time. You could try something like Gsam Battery Monitor and see what's draining the battery.

Galaxy Nexus Battery Drain by "Browser" and "Google Services"

Hello!
I experience problems with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus battery life. I'm not really sure, if it was began already on 4.0.4. or started only after my 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update, as I upgraded it just after the purchase.
As for now, I have to charge my phone 2 times a day, although my usage of it is very moderate (no games, 3G, etc.). And the battery statistics shows that "Browser" and "Google Services" consume more than 50% of a battery, though I'm not using the stock browser at all. It seems that this services are just keeping the phone awake:

}
I saw other posts dedicated to this problem (for example, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416994), but most of them say about "Android OS" problem. I disabled Google+ and location services (as it is sometimes advised), but it didn't help. As you can imagine, this bug is very frustrating and annoying.
Any ideas, who can be the culprit?
Thank you in advance.
Did u try clearing cache and data on Google services framework in apps> settings> all?

Scallywag1, thank you for the tip! No, I didn't... but now I've cleared it. The problem goes away after every restart and then appears suddenly, so I'll have to wait for another day or two before reporting success.
Could be an app trying to open the browser everytime it launches and just leaving it there trying to connect
I also thought about some app, but I couldn't find it, and don't know how to do it now. Can you advise some utility?

You can use watchdog task manager or view whats running and kill it also you can download alogcat and see whats running etc.

I understand that I also can use
Code:
adb logcat > log.txt
or
Code:
ddms.bat
but it seems rather difficult to analyse that log with all the output from various applications. I also tried different "battery draining problem diagnosing" apps but none of them helped
And thank you for the "Watchdog Task Manager" - never heard of that app, will definitely try it!

Scallywag1, thank you very much again!
It seems that your solution worked: no more "Browser" or "Google Services" in battery stats for three days. And now I have to recharge once a day: cannot say that it's really great, but it is much better and totally bearable for me.

Anyone getting this every morning?

Fox. ..go into the app drawer and see if the application has an update option.
If yes. ..update it.
The services apps were updated 2 days ago by Google. And depending on your market update settings it may not have been done.
The application is not found in the play store, and needs a manual fix if your settings blocked it.
I got the same message before updating, and now it's gone. ...g

I git that until i removed it.
Just remove it from the ap drawer.
Its useless.
Easy.
Edit: I should clarify: dont remove, merely use the freeze option via TiBu. Then hit the disconect from market option.

Hey D, I even installed the actual google play services.apk that i found. But it still didn't help with the hangouts thing! Asking for updating play services. Same msg as you.
Edit: got these from installing on my skyrocket. Just too see what WOULD happen!! Since everything is stock on there! Now everything works!!

Why is Play Services suddenly killing my battery?

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Suddenly Play Services is the number one user of battery on my phone, and I cant go more than 7 or 8 hours instead of all day like before.

I use ROM Toolbox to take away some of it's startup privileges, the easiest way though is to turn off location services, but some people aren't willing to do that. And that battery life pictured isn't that bad, you can see that the line is slowly sloping down with no spikes... especially with Bluetooth on. If you don't have it connected to something I suggest turning it off.

Thanks for the suggestion.
This is something that just started, and it appears that it wakelocks about 30% of the total run time of the phone. (20 Minutes out of 60). Definitely not right.
More searching has found a suggestion that this bug has something to do with google hangouts constantly forcing play services to wakelock. Since I don't use hangouts I have frozen it, and I'll see if anything changes.
Update:
After a full charge and 2 hours of runtime with Hangouts frozen I no longer see any hint of the Play services in the battery stats, and I'm down to 96% instead of 92 percent. I know it's not solid proof but it looks promising. compare the screenshots:
With Hangouts unfrozen^

i have the same problem, but my phone is different, looking for some answers
Yes I think it's not related to the phone model I could happen on any device.
But it seems there is no many people where this bug happens... So I didn't have any answer to this problem for the moment :-\

Question Huge battery drain on standby

Hello there guys! I bought my Moto G30 two weeks ago and I'm experiecing a huge battery drain on standby, about 30-40% per day. I tried using plane mode when I go to sleep but it drains about 10-12% every night. Do you guys know how to fix this? It's really annoying. Thanks in advance

Clear system cache.
Disable all cloud crap including Goggle Backup Transport, Framework and Firebase.
Disable Google, manufacturer and carrier feedback.
Disabling Google play Services when not needed can be useful. Turn off location. Disable Gmaps if not needed.
Disable all power management then find any other apps that run in the background and deal with them on a case by case basis.
Optimizing a stock phone is generally a long drawn out process of trial and error
Karma Firewall can be used to block apps from using the internet and thus reduce battery drain.
Unfortunately in Q and above it's valuable logging feature is disabled. I'm on Pie and it works well.
Karma uses almost no battery, freeware, ad free, a perfect apk.

Thanks a lot, I did that but no luck. I have to try karma firewall yet but what I can tell you is that the only way to solve this issue (so far) is to disable Google Play Store completely, by doing that, the battery drain reduced drastically

I always keep Playwhore disabled.
It's a menace. It requires a reboot with both it and Google play Services enabled to connect to Playstore. Paid for apps from there like SD Maid will puke if it's not active and show only as the free version.
Playstore, the worst Google app there is.
Google play Services is enabled briefly a few times a day. I'm getting 7-11%@hr SOT with my Note 10+/Pie now.
Thanks a lot for your reply mate! Really helpful
