You need to have a fully function T-Mobile sim inside your phone in order for the update to show up
I do my phone works just fine but i wont get the update with my phone being rooted i work for tmobile and they dont wont send update with rooted phone and i already tried downloading there software on my computer for the update but it wont work
Go to supersu app and in the settings there is a full unroot option.

The "cleanest" way of Un-Rooting is this one :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2802286

Hello,
Sorry if this was asked before but i couldnt find it in the search as its coming up with numerous returns on something else.
Anyways, I bought an AT&T s3 rooted and i was able to put it back to stock with Android 4.0.4. After i put it back to stock i got it unlocked to use on T-Mobile.
My questions are,
how do i update the software to the latest version. do i update it with AT&T software or do i use the T-Mobile software version?
If I update it again will it get locked again?
Rooting is not really an option as it is for my daughters use
thank you in advance for any replies,
V

If you update i believe it will no longer be unlocked to use on T-Mobile. However you do need to use the AT&T ROMs for it to work on your phone.
so is it best to root the phone and update it that way.

You can try updating the phone using the phone's OTA updater. It may not work if you have root.
I don't recommend updating all the way to 4.3 as it will load a 4.3 bootloader which cannot be downgraded and Knox.
I just got an Unlocked T-Mobile LG G3 that I use on AT&T. It's running 4.4.2 still. I'm looking to root it and install custom recovery and ROM on it. My question is since its the D851 then I have to use the T-Mobile forums to get the correct root and everything. Right? Also, will I still be unlocked so I can put my AT&T sim in it or does it destroy it? Also since I have 4.4.2 and try to install a ROM that's 5.0 or 5.0.2 will it softbrick the pone? Thanks for any input. It's m;y first Unlocked phone.
Yes you would use the T-Mobile forums since you purchased it from T-Mobile.
I don't see how rooting would destroy the unlocking of the device.

mine is unlocked and i use it on att and you wont loose unlock
Because of the hardware, yes, you will need to flash ROMs written for the D851, not AT&T. However you will need to manually setup the APN information for AT&T as it won't be in the ROMs.

Everyone answered your question but the last one so ill answer it. You could definitely flash any lollipop ROM so long as its made for D851. If it does not say D851 on it then do not flash it. We currently do not have a Stock lollipop rom so keep that in mind. However, feel free to root and then flash any cm12, aosp lollipop rom in the dev sections. Just READ carefully tho. A lot of people brick their devices because they refuse to read directions.
Downgrading and Upgrading questions
Hello XDA.
I've got the LG G3 D855 and I got it with android 4.4.2 and than I upgraded it to lollipop (right now I'm with v20H) and I knew that the device is capable with 4G so I talked with my carrier and I finally had the 4G enabled on my phone.
But I suddenly faced the bugs of lollipop and I decided to downgrade back to 4.4.2, it was alright but the 4G capability dissapeared of anything even in the menu there was no option for LTE so I upgrade back for lollipop again and it was ok and I got my 4G back :good:
So my question is why did it happened ? and I want to know what to do if i'll downgrade back again and still have the 4G enabled and not lose it.
Thank you.

If you downgrade from Lollipop to Kitkat your modem is gone that's why you dont have network now ,you have to download the KitKat modem for your firmware version and all will be fine
Flash it in custom recovery

Wrong answer. If the "Modem" was gone, he couldn't get any service. So, modem is OK.
You can activate LTE manually;
1- Go to Dialer
2- Type *#*#4636#*#*
3- Select Phone Information
4- You should see a long box end of page. Change the section in box to one of LTE modes.
I have a lg g3 (verizon) with 5.0.1 rooted. Is it safe to update to 5.1.1? Has anyone tried? I want to but im afraid it'll break my root completely or my phone will brick. I can't lose my root because ill lose a lot of features. So if someone has tried or is willing to try that'd be awesome!
Same boat. I'll be watching this for an answer.

Reflash stock recovery and you should be fine
OTA usually removes root. You can reroot it after you install the OTA
No update for the d855 or other versions ?!

I have the Verizon G3 with 5.01. The 35B OTA wouldn't even install until I restored the factory image.

Well I recommend a clean TOT or KDZ flash. Hope this will fix your problem. Please do follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2785089 to flash TOT or KDZ then update via OTA. Thanks!
DO NOT TAKE THE UPDATE
...if you want root, etc. Currently there is no way to root 35b and no way to roll back to an earlier version. They patched some things up it seems.
Some brave souls took the update and are stuck now... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/post63200915#post63200915
Freeze with tibu (or delete) the system update apk to stop the notification.

I just update my rooted 5.0.1 VS985 to 5.1.1, gotta say , this new system is more battery save. i turn on the music and LG health and mobile data when i took exercise tonight for about 2 hours, and it's only cost 3% of the battery.and you know, lots of useless Verizon apps and others, but it's fine, i can disable it in app manager.
Yea I noticed that with this new update as well.
I'm little sour about being in un-rooted state.
But the battery life is noticeably better.
Maybe this option was there but I noticed new options under the developer setting where you can restrict amount of background apps running. I believe this helps out a lot as well.
Just an update on the update...
On vs985 it looks like someone was able to successfully TOT back from the 35B update, so people shouldn't be stuck anymore if they took the OTA(see post 84 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ing-takethe-vs98535b-5-1-1-ota-t3220693/page9). Root is still not available for people who took the 35B OTA yet, but there are 2 stock based rooted 35B ROMs available now: Jasmine and Skydragon. I think the only thing that isn't functional is advanced calling because we can only use the 24b modem with the 35b ROM due to the 12b bootloaders we have that allow us to have TWRP...or something like that. So it'll be a 35b ROM and all it's updated glory - running a 24b modem.

Hey mate... The t mobile version of the g3 is the easiest one to root because it comes with factory unlocked bootloader... Go to the g3 tmobile section...
