Hello all,
I am using the Micromax A1 like most of you. I was super excited after Lollipop finally came for the device after such a loong and frustrating wait. While the device functions quite well, there are some bugs I have come across. The reason I am starting this thread is that we can all report our bugs under one thread rather than making a thread for every single one. Just briefly explain your bug to help others understand
Here is the list of the bugs I came across:
1. Camera has become very slow
I have been timing my camera after I came across some irregularities in the stock camera app since the update. Even if you pre-focused the camera, it takes almost 2.5 second for the photo to be taken after the shutter has been clicked. Its quite frustrating most of the times. I tired third party apps like A Better Camera but no use! Also I have noticed that my camera makes a small noise while trying to focus and then click. A small clicking sound inside the camera hardware module.
2. Infinite Back Loop
I have come across this bug sporadically. If chrome browser is open and some other app is open (In my case, many times it is Go SMS Pro), it keeps on rotating back and forth between the two apps instead of going to the home screen. To come out, you have to swipe them off from recents or press home button.
3. SIM Card Selection
This is another one frustrating bug. In this, if you have selected "Ask every time" for selecting SIM before calling, every time after you click a contact, the SIM selection screen vanishes before making the selection. And if by chance there is a true caller overlay then you are done for sure. This happens many times in case of contacts with multiples numbers.
4. Storage Issue
One of the worst bugs in my opinion. I mean What is up with this!! I had about 450 MB free space in internal storage and after update, it all went into a chaos. I had to uninstall soo many app so make Lollipop work smoothly. And further worse part is, now a days, even if I have 230 MB odd internal space, its does not install even small apps with the error "Insufficient storage space on the device". Such a nightmare!
So yes, That all for now from my side. Please do contribute from your side. Also do share solutions if you have found for such bugs and help your fellow Android One users.
Cheers
One more I want to point out that the dialer app animation lags a little but If I turn the power saver mode on, the same animation works perfectly

Hey all,
I got my desire this morning, and i don't know if its just me, but everything takes a long time to load up e.g. time, weather, calendar, text messages, email apps.
Is anyone else having this problem, or should i return the phone.
Thanks for your help

I think it depends on your perception of lag. I feel my device slows down momentarily sometimes when navigating through long lists and opening some applications as you mention. I thought at first it might be a problem with my device but have since had it replaced (because of dust under the screen not this) but I still notice it the same. I think I just expect everything to be instantaneous given the 1Ghz processor inside but to be honest it doesn't bother me and I imagine most people don't notice any slow down at all.
As an example, just now selecting the option to add the HTC Clock widget to the home screen there is a noticeable pause before it comes up with the options to choose widget style.
I would be interested in how quickly the Photos application loads for people though, it takes a good few seconds for me (around 4 seconds sometimes) to load the summary view with 'camera shots', 'all photos' links etc. I've replaced the memory card to an 8gb Sandisk Ultra as I thought the read speed of the original could be the cause, but it still takes the same time.
None of these things effect the usability of the device in practical terms though.
Market / Weather are possibly lagging due to Network speed rather than phone speed. They have to DL data to the phone.
Others like Email may be refreshing when opened causing lag.
My messages app (Handcent currently) only lags when I have many hundreds of messages saved. But it is noticably better than chomp at handling the same volume of messages.
I find the phone lags when it is installing stuff. And by lag I mean delayed responses to my input.
I also find that certain apps can load up and then cause the phone to stutter. I haven't found out exactly which apps but it's always solved with a soft reset - just turning the phone off and on. Either that or it's forcing the phone to store too much on the SD card.
Maybe I'll find the offending app when I have more time.
So, this one I put in General section on purpose, rather than the Troubleshooting and Q&A section, cause main purpose is to disguise about the bugs and things that are simply wrong.... Mainly probably Android issues rather than HTC, but their team has big impact on those...
I'm gonna start by the fact that I got the M8 just a couple days ago, and it's an upgrade from my previous M7 (Stock 4.3, TWRP Unlocked & rooted).
The first thing that I did after turning it on was, Wifi -> Software updates -> and got 3 OTAs in a row, to get me to 5.0.1... After that, I started to "migrate" the phone; Loging in G-acc, downloading apps from PlayStore.. and bump, here's the issue number 1:
- PlayStore keeps saying "Connection lost. Retry" or giving an error 923 on downloading apps, like every few minutes or so. This only happens when using 3G or 4G connection. Writing reviews is impossible, cause at the time I actually write something, and press Apply, the message is lost, and "Try again" notification appears instead... Never happened before on M7, so I checked with my carrier and we've done all the testing - It's for sure something with the phone, not the signal. carrier or tower-switching....
Next thing was, youtube has the same issues: Every few minutes (even less), a "Retry" button appears, and has to be pressed 2 or 3 times to load search results, videos, etc... Never breaks the connection during video play though. But, still, playing playlist is impossible, due to error being in between every video change...
Issue number 3: Gallery keeps getting everything that's on the phone. This includes Messenger (Facebook) app's emoticons, which are shown one-by-one in it's own albums, resulting in having over hundred albums in a gallery, - I know this can be hidden, but hiding over 100 folders is not that easy either...). I checked data on my M7 - same folders, same files of messenger, but Gallery never showed them at all.
It also shows all of the pictures I've ever shared with a particular person, since Messenger downloads those pictures in a folder... What have they done with the Gallery app?!? Is there anyway to downgrade to some older version...?
Issue number 4: Cloud gallery notification pops-up every single time the Gallery is opened. Even though I hit "No thanks" button, the next time the app is opened, notification saying "Gallery just got better with cloud service" pops-up. Any way of disabling this notification?!??? I guess that mentioning the uselessness of Zoe app due to not having Save button is irrelevant, right...? This Cloud things seems to mess up the heads of the HTC Dev team, ha?
Issue number 5: Power saver notification can't be hidden from the Lock screen; My life with M7 was 90% of the time with "Power saver" option turned on (All except for the data cut-off option selected). I always had the notification in the upper bar of the screen, but never on the Lock screen itself, in the middle of the screen. Now, on M8 this is visible. Along with the big "X" symbol that turns it off. I swear I've gone through all of the settings, but nowhere found any option to hide it.
Issue number 6: Google drive downloads low-res videos instead of originals! So, I keep a lot of my FullHD ([email protected]) of the GoPro on my Drive. Now, when I wanted to see those videos on my phone, I hit the Download button, and look what I got: 720p (1280x720) videos @ 25fps. Converted MP4 files. Without any notification, any option set, nothing... And I've downloaded the same files on M7 non-converted, so that I could edit them and upload them on social networks etc... Why is this the case, and why is this behaviour nowhere even documented? At least I haven't found it...?
Resolved issues:
- SD Card write error; It's a pain in the ass what they did. More than that, its the pain in the ass that in 5.0.1. where this was repaired (via Documents app approval), the app crashed when selecting SD card -> due to the card not having any name set (after format). It would be nice if this was documented somewhere too...
- Whole device freezes for around 10 secs whenever message is sent in Facebook Messenger app: This is resolved by turning off "In-App sounds" option in the app's settings. Still have no idea why this would happen, and why only on M8, (Nexus 5 and 6 don't have these issues running same system and app version...), so can't say who to blame, but at least it can be bypassed...
Facts (rather than issues): About M8 itself... Well, the camera is far from what they promised, and the battery is nowhere near the capacity they claim it to be. While the screen is pretty much the same as it was on the M7, I'm really starting to wonder what is the big change in the model at all (apart from louder speakers, very dumb headphones jack reposition, and gladly SD card support back in game...).
Now for the worst of it all: The playstore review content; HTC Development team seems to simply delete all reviews that are not saying what they'd like to hear. Either 1 star, 2 star, and comments that points to some issues - the review gets deleted within couple hours. I've been mentioning bugs on 3 apps, like 4 times so far, and all my reviews were gone... While they are kept on many other apps. I mean, is this the way to treat customers?!?
What are your thoughts? What are the bugs you found and I haven't yet...? I really want to know as much as I can, because I'm starting to regret for my choice....
Lot of times i have faced the issue of touch not happen at some points and also sometimes the buttons even dont show up.
1. when i open amazon.in in my chrome...after turning the night mode on...whenever i scrollup the window...the screen of phone flickers...i tried to take screenshot bt they were clear...
At some time...i felt that the screen will fuseoff...it was so bad experience...and no bug report found at all for future improvements.
2. Major flaw...when i played games...all worked fantastic bt somehow the phone does not understand the coding of the game(hitman absolution)
Whenever i try to switch the weapon in armoury, the arrow to switch between weapons appears for about half second and vanishes...at the end i am unable to switch the weapons...stuck at default weapon...
A huge dissatisfaction that u have every specs to play around and i dont know wt is stopping me from enjoying the things.
Lot of websites dont load properly like on other mobiles...
3. I am huge fan of hayday game...but when i start playing...after 5-10 minutes....the game shuts of accidently and homescreen appears...and the thing happens everytime ...even after multiple reboots and full battery.
Not even the app not responding box shows...just everything shuts...very bad experience....and dont know the solutions of such things...
The slow motion feature in the camera records at 120fps...quite fast for slomo and 960 fps which makes video look laggy...ther must be some solution to record 540fps also.
And the customization..crap..there is no theme engine...if u wanna change something...in dreams or in other rom.
There is not even the default gallary application by lenovo...no android M logo shows up on multiple tap in settings about model/base, just sick of the things....better switch the rom.
Anyone else have their Fold 3 keep on freezing for a few seconds at times, ever since the last update? It has done it when using Facebook Messenger via Chat Heads, opening the list of open apps (via the three lines button ||| ) to switch/close an app, Facebook app, Samsung Browser, tapping the back button, and possibly other times. Really annoying!
My screen will go blank when I close a app sometimes. The screen is powered on but all my app icons won't be there. Just the background.
I've had this issue since I got the device. It happens whenever I unfold the device from using the outer screen and it's not an immediate switch, it takes a couple seconds like it hangs. And I've tried 6 different launchers and tons of different apps and nothing changes it. I've debloated my device as much as I can without losing the functionality I need and followed the oneui optimization guide with a bunch of adb commands to make it better and I've had no luck BUT my battery life is amazing and the overall performance is good so I'm at a loss.

Oh, that's an odd one! I haven't had that one happen. It was getting frozen right after the opened app view came up, so I couldn't swipe an app closed or switch to another one right away.
Thankfully, the phone seems to be working better now after I reset the phone earlier, so here's hoping it stays that way.

I don't use the front screen much, so only have done that switch a few times over the year plus I've had the phone. I think it does take a second or two to switch, but not too bad since you're getting it set in your hands anyway, IME.
Okay, well it still does the freezing thing, but not as bad as it did before the reboot. I'd report it to Samsung, but their customer service can't understand English so can't understand problems correctly. I have an issue with scrolling screenshots not saving and they told me to reset my app settings, including network settings, and I separately gave a suggestion for the Bubbles feature to be able to open Bubbles (for texting) instead of waiting for that person to text me, and they told me to reset my network settings.
Personally I hate it. I noticed two bugs that absolutely shattered my experience as of today. One is that you cant pull the status bar with your mouse if it is all the way to the top of the screen, it has to be one pixel below or something otherwise nothing happens. The other is that the mouse cursor gets extremely laggy in multiple situations (I dont know what causes it), frequently when changing apps, any sort of loading and other situarions.
I reported these issues but if they dont get fixed I'll install an older firmware.
Here's an example:
Disappointing. Expected more from the update
really Meh. Ive noticed some bugs tho like when i have youtube in PIP mode the recents screen can be viewed but no apps can be switched from there until i exit YT. im also a bit annoyed i can no longer press hold on the recents-screen on app icons to quickly uninstall, or what I usually do to get to the app settings. but it goes there by pressing the app icon on the recent-screen, no big deal. other than that, cant really tell much of a difference at all tbh. its not bad , not great. Just "meh".
For me, its beyond BAD!!!! Before already had many issues like crash app (pc mode crash like once every hour) . Drawing apps can display proper color palletes once Dark Mode turn on. This had been since forever.
The worst I had, and really makes me want to make public petition so these manufacturers be more responsible towards theirs cust, is the Smart Pen. While its cost USD 100 , and they make closed SW so u can't used any ( i mean NONE) 3rd party stylus, but after the updates the pen cant connect to BT at all and keep prompt Charge your sylus now!!!! Wtf!!! And none over the Net any solutions available and as usual their forum real HOPELESS!!!!
My stylus pen doesn't even show up on bluetooth. It's like it doesn't exist. I've tried two pens and both don't recognize.
