Galaxy S6 Edge is amazing! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

With this being my first samsung smartphone i have purchased AND plan to hold onto, The build quality is amazing! I am thoroughly impressed, my previous device was the LG G3 and after 3yrs of having LG devices (Optimus G, G2, G3) i believe this was a great change of pace. Can't wait to see what the dev community can come up with for the screen edges.

Welcome to Samsung.
Let's try to keep the general threads combined for topics like this, thanks!

LG dropping out as Windows Phone OEM

Source
So for now LG is taking a sabatical on offering Windows Phones. I know the anti-wp people will throw some stones at Windows Phone and the sales, so I will take the other part:
LG has fallen far and fast. I remember in 2009 2010 when LG had the Cookie and they were doing really well. At one point I believe they were 3rd in a Q in handsets sold. Their TVs were doing well.
Now, their Android phones also are not doing well. I hate to see an OEM drop out because choice is good for the consumer. I hope they turn things around.
As a LG Quantum user I love my phone. My last 3 phones have been LG and I can say I have had little to no problems with the phone. I hope they decide otherwise I would hate to go to another OEM because LG no longer made windows phones.
But it does not say that they will officially lets just hope they decide to make Windows Phones before Apollo launches.
There is already thread about this.

I did not see one, but I do not go into the general or LG forums. And while I was making the thread I did not see any matches come up.
But shouldn't LG's decision to drop out of making Windows Phones be in the Windows thread (too)?
this could be a real problem with future updates for our lgs....
They are not giving up, you will see an Apollo device.

Meet and greet sticky

I created this thread as a way for everyone to get to know each other by name. We're a tight knit group of users in here, and I thought it would be appropriate for us to know each other by name. In the recent weeks, I've noticed an increase in bickering. Experience has taught me that when people know each other on a name to name basis, it creates a more personal atmosphere, where people are less likely to show disrespect to one another.
As your Moderator, my goal in the forums is to create a peaceful atmosphere, where people aren't at each other's throats. It takes away from the true purpose of XDA, and also pushes people away. Let's all work together to improve the overall atmosphere of these forums. After all, we're all here for the same reason; a passion for development, cell phones, and sharing thoughts and ideas.

My name is Tyler. I'm an android vet when it comes to applying mods and roms and whatnot, but when it comes to the guts of the stuff, I'm no good. I tried compiling a build of ICS for my nook color, but even that was beyond me. This is my fifth android device. After a Moto Milestone and Droid 3, this is my first phone with an actual unlocked bootloader that I didn't have to jump through hoops to root (never buying moto again). So that's been nice. I look forward to working with you folks.
Hey guys! My name is Andrew
First Android device here in the Captivate Glide I am learning how to do the little things in Dev and hopefully in time will just continue learning ...
My name's Rohit. The captivate glide is my second android device, behind Desire HD (still have it). I owned an iPod which I messed around with, going to the roots and such. Moving to android gave me more control over the phone than I had with the iPod. I know a little about editing widgets for android as well as figuring out problems which occurs.
the name is Gabriel. Been an Android user since 2010, most of my devices are Samsung so I am comfortable flashing ROMs/Kernels for these devices. I also used Sony Ericsson and HTC devices. My device history below:
Captivate I896 & I897
HTC Desire
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Samsung Infuse 4G I997R
Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE I727R
Samsung Galaxy S Glide I927R
I always stick on stock ROMs. But since I've been tied through developers' work, I have dedicated time to test their ROMs/kernels, use them until I know it is capable of being a daily driver, then go back to stock....

I went from my, like 4 years old, HTC Dream to the Glide(which was so hard to root in comparison to the Glide). Also I like how I'm not the only one who owned a HTC Dream before <3
Hope to see some nice ROMs in the future
Hello from Fabrizio,
Rome - Italy.
Captivate Glide is my first android ever and i'm totally in love with it.
Mike from Toronto, Canada.
Had a Xperia x10 that went from 1.6 to 2.3, and got the Glide after. I still have a want for a physical qwerty. Glide is rooted and running custom OSI Mood ROM from Carpe.
I run a QA dept for a mobile app company and I have a lot of devices at my work (Nexus, Note, HTC's, Xperia's, etc..) and I still like my Glide over all of them.
I don't post much, but read a lot. I find people tend to post too much about nothing.
I also have an Asus Prime.
Looking forward to having ICS come out!

This is my first Android Device. I'm enamored with the flexibility of both the OS and the hardware.
Previous devices of any importance were a WinMo 6.5 LG eXpo and before that a feature phone LG Vu, over the course of the past 7 years. This community is important to me from both a support and a customizing aspect. Thanks!
Hi, I'm Austin... From Fredericktown Mo USA
This is MY second android device (not counting the two of my parents)
I had,
Iphone 3g (horrible)
HTC aria (awesome little thing)
Traded that for iphone 3gs
Traded that for my glide
I also have a Samsung Captivate and Moto Atrix 4g in my family...
I try not to post too much, but if there's a question that I have, or someone has a question that I have the answer to, I'm not shy.

Hi All. My Name Is John and I live in Montreal Canada.
I used to have a Samsung Omnia running Windows 6.1 Phone and before that an Axim X51V. Got Tired of crappy touch screens so I told myself I needed a Physical Keyboard so Hello Glide!
I also work in QA for a Computer company Though I deal in the Microsoft Certification of our drivers.
I installed a Rom on my X51V from XDA many years ago and now with my Glide. I like learning how things work and would like to get into making some Roms as I do have some programming skills but I have never done anything like this. I downloaded the Development kit but I am not sure how to use It I am used to Windows Visual Studio for Work.
Hey there
Hello everyone, the name's Alexander.
The Glide is my first real android device. I previously used hand-me-downs, most notably an HTC Kaiser. Before that an HTC Wizard. On the Wizard I used custom ROMs from XDA, and on the Kaiser I was able to run Android thanks to the great work of the developers here!
I have a background in communication & multimedia design, and have been a bit of a whiz-kid for as long as I can remember. I don't know anything solid about the nuts and bolts of Android specifically, and consider myself much more a tinkerer and designer rather than any kind of developer. So all I can offer are tips and suggestions on making the user experience better through theming, widgets, and so on. On the technical side I can hold my own, but generally with Android consider what I say as "good guesses" unless otherwise stated!
I can, however, really understand the excitement AND frustration that go along with any development-process. In part due to my own experience, but also second-hand as many of my friends are computer engineers.
I hope to be of some help to the lovely folks here at XDA!
Hi, Salaam, my name is Muzammil, living in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.
Samsung Captivate Glide is my first Android device, also bought the Galaxy S II, but that's mom's phone.
Have pretty much single handedly maintained this phone's Wikipedia article, with photos and text. If anyone wants to make it better, please contribute

I don't have the phone of yet but hope to get it really soon.
I'm using my Nokia N97 and want to change real bad
Hello, This is Vinay, from Bangalore - India.
Captivate Glide is my first Android Phone and very happy with the device from past 6 months.
I am basically an Mechanical Engineer. I am not into programming and writing codes.
Am ready to try and feedback on the Mods/kernels/Roms that the Developers are ready to offer to the XDA Community.
I can understand the work, time and patience that the ppl put across in any development process. Appreciate the work guys!!
Heavily try different App's widgets available in the market.
I can support in general usage issues and suggestions.
Always happy to learn and share.
Hey guys, Paul from London here.
Had my AT&T branded Captivate Glide for a few weeks now. Really like it lots, although I'm itching for some ICS action, but have so far managed to hold out from rooting and flashing it just yet due to the possible official upgrade
Its my third Android device my last being a Motorola Milestone that I had overclocked and flashed a few ROMs on. Ended up running CM7 in the end which I was pleased with, although the battery life left me wanting.
Backflip anyone?
Harry from NJ here. Upgraded to Cappy Glide from the Motorola Backflip running CM7. The Backflip had a great keyboard but was was slow and old (like me!).
Anyone else had a Backflip?

Official OFF TOPIC THREAD

This is a thread to come and relax and hangout in.
This is no NSFA so not posting of anything nude/rude/obnoxious.
This is a place to have fun and get to know your fell optimus users.
If you choose to not follow the rules you can and will be infracted or banned and I am always watching
Enjoy and have fun
No being obnoxious? Aww
The Optimus G looks freaking LEGIT.
The fact that its almost got 2x the processing speed as the S3 or OneX is mind blowing.
Just wish the AT&T version had the 13MP camera too
&& Anyone else feeling that the battery (2100mAh) is a bit too small?
can't wait to get my hands on it, the sprint version
More Revenues/Profit = More Support? Hope so....
Good article on reuters regarding LG latest quarterly earnings, could be a good sign for us who will be buying the Optimus G. I have to admit, I have owned a LG device before (Nitro HD), and I eventually got rid of it - too many reasons to list. However, with more revenue and trending growth I hope LG will realize the opportunity they have gain valuable market share and will put these increased revenues to good use - namely to make a better effort to support their flagships with appropriate and timely updates.....time will tell, but i'm willing to take my chances on this device - specs are just too good. Fingers crossed.....
FYI i would post the link but it wont let me b/c im a new user.....if you go to Reuters and search "LG electronics" - the news article is titled "LG Electronics boosts smartphone sales as rivals fade"
Love the site btw...
thx
hi, can someone test the 10bit MKV playback on optimus g? can it handle the video well?
10BIT? Piece of cake man
This forum vs the AT&T and Sprint forums
I know the mods have deemed this forum "NOT AT&T OR SPRINT GO AWAY" but I'm hoping they don't delete future posts about either of these phones here... even though we have a phone on a different carrier doesn't necessarily mean the knowledge and comments won't apply. I know for instance the sprint and international have the same body style.
What does anyone else think?
Att/sprint versions of the G have their own forum section, thats why it was prohibited in the general.
good day! F180L-will it work in Russia? can I receive calls?
Should work with the frequencies matching
sorry did not say: interested in networks gsm (mts, beeline, tele2)
good machine
nice
Just tried the update check, instead of usual "No updates" it says the update server is unavailable.
Hope that means the 4.1 is on its way
thx

Next smartphone

Hi guys,
I'm going to change my phone and would like to know how is the situation over here ☺
Just saw the leaked htc 10 images, seems to be quite nice, even in specs. I never tried an htc, i just rooted my brother's m7 and it was quite easy.
Unlocking bootloader a matter if 5 mins...
Long time ago i had a optimus g and then a nexus 5, they were amazing and make me love LG. Amazing warranty mantaining warranty.
I decided to move from n5 to sgs6 and the first 3 months i was satisfied, i had no time for modding so i just sticked to stock non rooted...then i started missing modding..in sgs6 it is close to zero after 1 year from the release, this because of closed source exynos and damn knox.
Now i think my next device should be easy to mod, with official cm, aospa, aokp and everything which i loved on the n5, but i don't know how htc performs in this way..
I mean, in m9, m8 etc, were official rom developed easy and fast? Did they have goo performance compared angainst stock? Batterylife was better?
I don't know what phone to choose between g5 and this htc 10 just because of modding, the other specs doesn't matter to me..
Hope we can discuss togheter and that i do not have made a mistake posting this here..
Boomsound. If any other device had it I'd swap. But they don't so htc it is for me..

Samsung seems to be moving further and further away from any support for modding. They seem to be going after the enterprise market with phones that are ever more locked down, especially in the US. I have not modded a lot of LG stuff, but I have not found them very dev-friendly because of doing things like disabling fastboot.
HTC hasn't given any indication that they're dropping support for OEM unlocking, which is the reason I've stuck with them.
Development on the M7 and M8 was great, it's been less so on the M9, I suspect because it did not sell as well. I have never run stock on any of my HTC phones, so it's hard to say how the custom roms compare. But there are plenty of options for tweaking performance.
Development in general seems to be shrinking on non-Nexus phones. There are fewer reasons to root than there used to be now that Google and the OEMs are picking up mods and tweaks from the dev community. My guess is that unless the M10 sells really well, development will be limited. But it's worse on Samsung.
It would seem to me like you are disrespecting the master samsung..
All hardware manufacturers are trying to lock down their devices. Even google is trying with android 6.
The truth is that so long as a development community exists so will modified devices. The reason they lock them down is for our own security yet we break it to show them how much we dont care. We do care, just not about who knows our age, gender, hair colour etc etc as we give that info out every time we step outside.
Manufacturers are responsible for this said "quiet" era because they are ALL in it for the same reasons, money. It won't be long before you have to buy specific development devices at thousands of dollars/pounds and that will be the end of the free world.
