The phone has s-off and rooted. Twrp has been installed with custom recovery. The issue is when I flash a custom rom like AOKP it's give me a failed message. I made sure to clear cache and factory restore before the flash. Not sure how to fix this.

The current version of TWRP is 2.8.6.0 which is the one I recently downloaded and I am currently using. You can download it directly from TWRP.

TWRP version 7.5.1.1 <-- is TWRP manager from the app store i believe. But you are correct 2.8.6.0 is the latest.
OP if your TWRP is outdated, it wont have the new By Name partition installer. Older recovery's used block numbers, CM changed to Name partitions and messed everyone up. If you are using a AOSP based rom you will need to have the most updated TWRP
Thanks, I updated TWRP, this solved all the problems. Thanks for the help. Running TWRP 2.8.5.0.

Try using TWRP 2.3.3.0 as your recovery system instead, it's more up to date and is reliable. Just flash it through Odin, afterwards, you should be able to install and boot the ROMs perfectly.

If you don't mind switching to TWRP as the guy above said, then I would switch. If you like CWM, then make sure you aren't using the super wipe scripts on CWM versions other than 5.0.X

Did you manage to solve it? i'm having the same issue with every rom i flash
I'm helping my friend install cyanogenmod on his sgh-i747m (telus), and we are having great difficulty. The phone is rooted, and TWRP 4.2.2 (or whatever's newest) is installed from the goomanager app. On everything he tries he gets a status 7 error. Phone is always wiped prior to flash, both internal and external memory have been tried, and the rom has been redownloaded several times. Even tried cm10 stable and PA 3.0.
Any suggestions? Could using cwm instead of twrp help? If so how do I replace twrp with cwm?
Going to sleep hoping there will be some suggestions in the morning. Thanks in advance.
Yeah try cwm. But that error usually means your on an outdated recovery. So make sure its the latest twrp

Yeah, that's sounds like an outdated recovery issue. download rom manager and install cwm if you want to give that a shot.

Yo can also get a status 7 if your phone is marked as a d2can. Some ROMs have a device check prior to flashing to prevent a brick. You have to install a recovery as a d2att and they'll flash.

Thank you, that recovery worked.
Seems any kitkat ROM I flash, I get an error. Both AOKP and CM11. Do I need to update my bootloader? I'm on the latest twrp recovery.
Might be because my phone is registered as an at&t s3. Guess the slimbean ROM I installed did that. It did say for tmo & at&t but registered as at&t. Hmm :what:
Edit. Complete wipe and installed stock rooted but still no luck. Anyone?

Using Phils advanced custom version of CWM recovery did the trick. I guess TWRP is the cause but Phils version can be found here -> http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=htt...2tmo/philz_touch_6.12.8-d2tmo.zip&h=XAQFMb4tC
I've been on CM 4.2 for ages, finally decided to make the jump a 4.4 ROM. I decided to try slickricks PA 4.4 Build, which seemed stable enough.
Got it all installed, boots fine, but I have no radio. Zero service. I've tried flashing every radio that RWilco has on his site (Through CWM and Odin), as well as the MK4 modem from here.
I also tried loading a backup of Stock TW (where mobile radio works fine) and doing a PRL / Profile update, but that didn't do anything.
I've just run out of things to try. If anybody has any suggestions, please share. Thanks in advance.
You can not flash 4.4 using twrp. Try using philz recovery 6.07.9 while any version of philz will flash 4.4 only 6.07.9 will flash all android version.

There it is. I never would have suspected this. Things are working great now. Thanks so much!
No problem. Just so you know philz will also restore you twrp backups. When you are in the backup restore menu select options or advanced and select twrp format. It works without causing any issues so you wont need to flash between the two.
Also twrp states that their unreleased version 2.7 will handle 4.4 but dont know when it will be available.

I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod 11 ROM+kernel and I'm running into an issue. When installing the ROM from the micro SD card, I get an error in the file itself and it also says "Status 7" and then "Installation aborted".
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've tried a couple of other roms and it's doing exactly the same thing. I've already installed the latest Blaze radio since I'm using T-Mobile on the device.
Any help to get this thing up an going is greatly appreciated! The last ROM that was just in here kept crashing all the time, even after a fresh restore it would crash while trying to install it's initial programs.
No ideas?
What recovery are you using? Try TWRP 2.8.1.0
The newer roms will fail to flash if you're using an older recovery.

Just boot into your recovery. If you're using TWRP, you'll see a splash logo that says TeamWin.
The screen after that will show your version at the top of the screen. You can update it if necessary at teamw.in

Turns out it has CWM v5.0.2.6. Is this outdated and won't work either? Also I have problems trying to download Odin on Windows 8.1. The damn OS blocks the file from being downloaded to the computer. You guys have any idea how to stop this? I've tried even loading it from a SD card and it won't copy the file over.
Ok, thanks for the tip on installing the updated bootloader. Now I have CWM 6.0.4.3 for T-Mobile and installed the Blaze radio since I read it's the best for T-Mo.
I installed the latest version of LiquidSmooth 3.2 but it won't go past the splash screen. I see the animated water pouring and the words Liquid Smooth but it doesn't go past that and just reboots into the same thing.
Seems like I'm finally almost there but this damn thing is fighting every step of the way! What am I doing wrong?
Nevermind, seems like I finally got it.
Had to clear out caches, format memory, and all the erasing jazz each twice. Finally working now!
Thanks for the help guys!!!
