I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod 11 ROM+kernel and I'm running into an issue. When installing the ROM from the micro SD card, I get an error in the file itself and it also says "Status 7" and then "Installation aborted".
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've tried a couple of other roms and it's doing exactly the same thing. I've already installed the latest Blaze radio since I'm using T-Mobile on the device.
Any help to get this thing up an going is greatly appreciated! The last ROM that was just in here kept crashing all the time, even after a fresh restore it would crash while trying to install it's initial programs.
No ideas?
What recovery are you using? Try TWRP 2.8.1.0
The newer roms will fail to flash if you're using an older recovery.

Yep, that's probably the problem. TWRP's website is teamw.in.

Just boot into your recovery. If you're using TWRP, you'll see a splash logo that says TeamWin.
The screen after that will show your version at the top of the screen. You can update it if necessary at teamw.in

Turns out it has CWM v5.0.2.6. Is this outdated and won't work either? Also I have problems trying to download Odin on Windows 8.1. The damn OS blocks the file from being downloaded to the computer. You guys have any idea how to stop this? I've tried even loading it from a SD card and it won't copy the file over.
Ok, thanks for the tip on installing the updated bootloader. Now I have CWM 6.0.4.3 for T-Mobile and installed the Blaze radio since I read it's the best for T-Mo.
I installed the latest version of LiquidSmooth 3.2 but it won't go past the splash screen. I see the animated water pouring and the words Liquid Smooth but it doesn't go past that and just reboots into the same thing.
Seems like I'm finally almost there but this damn thing is fighting every step of the way! What am I doing wrong?
Nevermind, seems like I finally got it.
Had to clear out caches, format memory, and all the erasing jazz each twice. Finally working now!
Thanks for the help guys!!!

I'm helping my friend install cyanogenmod on his sgh-i747m (telus), and we are having great difficulty. The phone is rooted, and TWRP 4.2.2 (or whatever's newest) is installed from the goomanager app. On everything he tries he gets a status 7 error. Phone is always wiped prior to flash, both internal and external memory have been tried, and the rom has been redownloaded several times. Even tried cm10 stable and PA 3.0.
Any suggestions? Could using cwm instead of twrp help? If so how do I replace twrp with cwm?
Going to sleep hoping there will be some suggestions in the morning. Thanks in advance.
Yeah try cwm. But that error usually means your on an outdated recovery. So make sure its the latest twrp

Yeah, that's sounds like an outdated recovery issue. download rom manager and install cwm if you want to give that a shot.

Yo can also get a status 7 if your phone is marked as a d2can. Some ROMs have a device check prior to flashing to prevent a brick. You have to install a recovery as a d2att and they'll flash.

Thank you, that recovery worked.
I used goo manager to download and install the latest recovery. Every time I go to boot into recovery it gets to the load screen where the blue letters are at the top but then it vibrates two or three times then reboots the phone like normal. My phone is rooted but not sure why it's doing this....help would be appreciated.

Have you tried flashing TWRP via Odin?
Have you tried to install twrp again?
Try installing cwm (you can use the ROM manager app) and see if that boots. Then try using too to install twrp again.

I haven't tried using Odin yet. I will give that a try. I was hoping I could do it without having to use a computer. I have tried reinstalling twrp using goo manager without success.

Switch to cwm to make sure the recovery partition of the storage is okay. Install cwm via the ROM manager app and make sure you can get into SOME recovery. Then try to install twrp again from too. Switching to another recovery was an important step in that process.

This is a little late here, but I an others have had trouble booting into recovery after flashing ROMs like the leaked 4.3.
It behaved just like the above when I was trying to get into recovery to restore a nandriod - even after a battery pull for 1 minute. I put in into Download mode, then did a battery pull. After that, it went into recovery with no problem.
Note - if Goo Manager installed 2.5.0.3 - that could be part of the problem, as there are issues with it. I went back to 2.5.0.2.
I think some 4.3 roms make you loose root also read their op.

Omega 1.0 was the first one to indicate it was rooted - but it unrooted me. It was when I initially tried to restore a nandriod when I could not get into recovery. I had read about others not being able to get into recovery after flashing 4.3 also.
So I am having trouble flashing a new ROM I have done it in the past and am used to doing it so I know what needs to be done. When I download a ROM I want to use I download it to my phone directly then I reboot into recovery I have the latest twrp version and I wipe everything then I go to install the ROM and after about 2 seconds it says failed. No matter what ROM I try it does this and I've tried downloading them several times thinking it was a bad download. I was able to install a stock one but I don't like stock and none of the others are working I don't known if I'm doing something wrong or if its my phone but help me please. Thanks in advance.

Hi there
1) Are you from Canada and using a Canadian Recovery for d2can? if so this could be a problem since many updater-scripts see this a fail since they are looking for d2att
2) What ROM's are you trying to flash? AOSP or Stock based touchwiz rom's?
also I would like to direct you to the Q&A, Help and troubleshooting forum, in the event that this post get's moved, you will find it there. They are busy people, but now you know no hard feeling man, just trying to make their job's easier!

Hi,
I have the Google Play Edition rom installed on T-Mobile Galaxy S4. I have accidentaly deleted the Clockworkmod folder from the internal storage. Now I can reboot in CWM recovery however on the main CMW screen I see a "Warning: No File_Contexts".
Should I be worried about this? Will I able able to flash a different rom, do and restore a nandroid back up with this warning?
If not what should I do to make the warning disappear?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

Thanks, I'm using original CWM. I was able to do nandroid back up without issues and then successfully flashed a ROM as well as mods.
I did see in one of the thread that quite a few people encountered that issue but they just ignored it, which is what I did.

I also get this no file_contexts error.
I updatet from CMW 6.0.3.3. to CMW 6.0.3.6 via ROM Manager. Than I reinstalled 6.0.3.6 again to see if error goes away, but this error is still there.
But it seems that error does not have an effect.

Yeah I just got my phone yesterday, and I've had this problem every time I've booted into CWM Recovery. I updated, tried different versions - didn't matter, still get the "no file_contexts" error.
I even tried TWRP and OUDHS Recovery, and had the same issue. I don't know what exactly is causing it, but it hasn't really negatively affected anything that I can see.
Just ignore it. Everything works fine.

Don't worry about it. Just about every current cwr for every phone has this "error". Just a harmless bug

I have the same error message and I have no problem making nandroid backups. I always check the option bank up to external sd card. It works perfectly fine. Also flashes go just fine too. Don't worry about the error message. Not sure but I think saying no files are backed up to INTERNAL storage which is fine because you generally want them stored on your EXTERNAL sd storage anyway. If they went to internal you would loose most of your phones memory with a few backups. So don't worry. All is well. Just store your nandroid to external sd card. When its time to restore simply choose backup from EXTE R NAL sd card. So don't worry about that message. Hope this helps
the error message is gone in CWM 6.0.4.4.

Your not alone with problems with TWRP. It constantly froze on my device I couldn't get into recovery. Luckily it unfroze long enough for me to install CWM touch. Since I've download cwm I haven't had a single problem with it. I download Rom Manager from the playstore and got my CWM touch downloaded and installed through Rom Manager. .it has not given me any trouble. But when I had twrp I had nothing but problems. Give cwm touch a try installed through Rom Manager.it worked Perfectly for me. It never freezes nor gives a blank black screen like TWRP did .TWRP froze my device completely and I couldn't even get out of it. Not even a battery pull would pull me out. I was very lucky it unfroze long enough for me to get CWM recovery touch installed through Rom Manager.many have reported similar issues with twrp. Try installing cwm touch through Rom Manager and see if that helps. It fixed all my issues. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
