Hi all,
I need your help with my issue.
I have a problem with my internet connection on some games. (WiFi or 4G) If i tap on retry, it is working as it should. Except Clash of clans. It keeps disconnecting. i can play a minute or 2 before the messeage appears. On 4g Clash of clans is working perfectly. (Strange)
I tryed 2,4 and 5ghz band of the router. (Asus RT-N66U)
With my HTC m8 on the old firmware everything worked perfectly. (Android 4.4.2)
Since Android 5.0.1 and firmware 4.16.401.10 i get these errors. I tried several ROM'S. (SkyDragon, Leedroid, Insert Coin.) So it's not the software i suppose.
My HTC One m8 is S-Off and have Super CID.
For what it's worth, i'am living in the Netherlands.
Could it be a problem in the firmware or am i supposed to use another firmware? It looks like the WiFi is unstable. A speedtest is not constantly. Could it be a problem with my router? (Laptop is working fine)
Router WiFi settings: https://www.imageupload.co.uk/image/ZZrn
I hope you guys and gals have a solution for my problem.
Thnx in advance!

It's a common problem with Lollipop. With other devices and stock ROMs as well. The next update should fix this.

This is a solution I've never heard of till now. It's been reported to work for others, obviously, or you wouldn't have posted this. Specifically, on what networks/carriers?

Hi all, I just updated my phone to JB. it seems that wifi has stopped working. Although It shows connected to the modem, I can't browse using the wifi. There are no issues with the data connection. I tried restarting the modem, restarting the phone etc yet the problem is still there. The moment I connect to the wifi it works for a while but then it dies off. I even did a factory reset on the phone yet no respite.
The hboot version is 1.36 and everything is stock. Can someone please help me out here?
I'd been using the whole night via WiFi

Let me check again..no matter what I do...the wifi never works
Try forgetting the network or change password for your wifi network? Sometimes that will solve the problem. Have you also tried using your wifi on other devices? If it is still a One X problem only, send it for service.
If you are on N.
Try setting router to G only, see how that works.
While I dont have this issue on one x, got this same issue on china tablet connecting to certain Wifi access point.
Generally I say it's compatibility issue, between newer wifi driver on JB update and particular Wifi AP. And enabling G mode only increase compatibility.

I had the same problem when I updated the wife's rhyme to ICS, I had to do a full reset on my router and then it worked but every time I flash a new rom on my HOX the rhymes wifi goes down again so have to keep resetting my router, which is a pain
Haven't found a solution yet, I have tried everything but only resetting the router works for the rhyme.

This is the best thing you should try.., set the Wifi to G only or B/G only and then try connecting your devices. i had a tablet with this problem and it was so simple to sort it out with this router setting change.
what is your router's brand or manufacturer?
try disabling the WMS (or WMM on other brand) in wireless settings
I had this problem since ICS and this trick worked for me.
My WiFi has only improved.
Hardware fault maybe?

i was having the exact same wifi issues with my phone back when i had ICS, however it seems the JB update has gotten rid of them for me
You shouldn't have to downgrade your wifi band to G.it's definately a software issue. Try going to wifi settings and change the wifi frequency band from auto to an actual value (eg 2.4)
Cid 044, no wiffi problems. Since day 1 late april. Wifi is great. Using lastest linksys Cisco router.
SkyDragon Sense, Dsensed, SeMistock & Stock Roms. Next Targe ~ ~ ~ > JB or Kelly Bean
here no issues too..

Hi Guys, im experiencing some annoying problem .
When i connect my phone to our Wireless network i got like 10 sec Internet access then it crashes the whole network. (I receive signal but cant connect to internet) . Then i have to restart my Router and disconnect my phone in order to get my Internet back.
Im using Static IPs but the Gateway and DNS are the same (idk if thats ok but works perfectly on my PC)
This problem appeared after the Jelly Bean update, before that ,it worked perfectly.
I would be very happy if somebody knows why is that happening.

I'm having a similar issue with my BT Home Hub 3 but mine will kick everyone off the wireless then add them back on straight away when i try to run anything on my HOX. (my Mrs's ipad, my laptops etc.)
I've tried router reset and changing channels on the router but nothing works.
Only happened after JB update.
Ive had this since I got the hox. Its actually got a bit better since the last update but still kills everything now and then

Yes set your router to G mode only will do the trick. Its a step down from B or N but seems the only solution. Its a HTC issue not JB because friends of mine who have other manufactures(Samsung) phones with JB have no issues on my network when my router is set to GB and N.

Hello, i know this has been discussed here before, but i wanted to ask for help anyway. My Wifi was working perfectly fine on Android 4.1, but after this update to 4.2.2 its really bad.
I know its software issue, pressing right top corner of my HOX doesnt help at all. I tried factory reset, but it didnt help. I´m running official ROM and no root. The problem is that sometimes when i have full signal strenght, the wifi speed is still horrible (like 0.5mb on 10mb wifi).
Any suggestions what to try? Thanks a lot

I have exactly the same problem. All HTC customer service suggested was factory reset, tried that and no difference. On 4.1 it worked fine on my wifi at home throughout the house, now on 4.2, works ok downstairs but useless upstairs even when it says I have 4 bars of signal. Very one times flaky though and sometimes drops to 1 or none. This is a disaster as I understand there is no way to roll back to 4.1. This is unbelievable!! How can an official update totally break basic functionality with no way back!? Searched all over Internet to find a solution and no luck, even though a fair few people seem ro have this problem. Is not a hardware problem, as OP, squeezing top right makes no difference. Have tried static IP, doesn't help. Desperate for help, can any wise heads on here suggest anything? Thanks!
So wish I had not updated, it worked brilliantly before.
Same situation here after the update... With full signal keep having horrible Wifi speed... :'(

Any chance anyone can suggest any other solutions to try?
Failing that, some details on what Richmondos fix is would be useful!!
Yeah, I really dont want to root my phone too, because i have warranty for more than 1 year now and I will sell the phone in future, so I dont wanna risk loosing warranty..
I also have similar problem! But it varies, sometimes it's bad and sometimes not??? Phone is stock and locked and don't want to unlock and install custom stuf, until warranty period is over.
Hello to all
I have the same wi-fi problem on my HTC One X since I made the update.
Is there any way to solve this?I hope so, because Wi-Fi signal is very bad, and I use it a lot of time.
I have CWM recovery installed, bootloader unlocked, and s-on, recently I have rooted my phone,
but at this moment is not.
I dont care installing new kernel, radio,etc........I just want to solve this problem :crying:
Tanks to all
I have a problem with my wifi too since the Andriod 4.2.2 and Sense 5 update, but it seems to be a bit different from yours. The speedtest.net app and the ping & DNS app give the same results as my PC that is hard wired to the router, so speed and ping seem to be fine.
But I get errors like Connection Problem Authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful - but I don't use a proxy server. In the HOX wifi settings for that router the Proxy settings are Manual, Proxy hostname 127.0.0.1 and proxy port 3128. Are these correct for when there is no proxy? If switch from Manual to None and go back in then it has gone back to those settings.
Another error is Connection Problem this page contains too many server redirects. But the page displays fine if I switch to mobile data.
Or I get Connection Problem there was a network error. Again it works fine on mobile data.
Then there are some webpages that give a 404 page cannot be found error. Again it works fine on mobile data.
Some of these problems are repeatable on the same webpages across different routers in different buildings.
Sometimes when connecting to a router the HOX connects and the loses the connection and then reconnects up to 10 times before settling on the connection.
Like you I would rather not root etc if possible.
So, noone know a solution for users without root? I found out that on some wifi (in school), it works quite fine even on worse signal. But before update, it was ok on every wifi..
Hi
i have the same problem with my wlan connection. Nearly 100kb/s.
I had tested my internet download speed on my computer and takes interesting information:
my internet connection is 70MBit, this means i can download with nearly 8,2 MB/s.
If my HOX is not connected to the router, the whole downloadspeed is available on the computer. But if the HOX is connected, the downloadspeed is only 1 MB/s.
After disconnecting and rebooting the router, the internet connection is as well as before.
Does anyone makes the experiences?
regards
Daniel
I don't have the speed problems, Speedtest.net app gives the same results on my HOX as my PC.
One of my wifi problems is to do with the Wi-fi connecting to a weak signal instead of the stronger one - I have worked around this by installing WiFi Fixer App which works well at switching to the stronger signal.
Also there are some websites that give errors like Server Error too Many Redirects (for example http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ does that for me) or 404 Error - Page Cannot be Found (http://fahrbot.co.uk/) or are sometimes slow to load - I have found that these issues don't happen with the Opera Mini app, so why does the stock browser give these problems when on wifi, but not on mobile data?
Another one is that if I click a link in a webpage (or type in a URL) that takes me to a webpage that has a mobile version as well as the desktop version I get a strange URL that doesn't work. For example on mobile data typing in www.abmobileapps.com takes me to the mobile version of the website, but on wifi the URL automatically changes to http://www.abmobileapps.comhttp/www.abmobileapps.com/ and the page cannot be found. Again it works in mini Opera on wifi.
WIFI FIX
if you use rooted device, use lyapota mods and flash modpack http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2114584 (contin wififix and other).
for me works great :highfive: (my router has openwrt)
I found out that on some other wifis speed works just fine. I have router D-Link DIR-600 with stronger antenna than it was stock. I use WPA2 security and Dynamic IP.
Is there anything what I should try to fix it? Thanks for any suggestions.
Here are some advices how to fix the WiFi issues - router dependent (need access to the router setup):
1. Make sure that you are not using channel 11-13
2. Disable "WMM Support" in router Wireless -> Advanced Settings. Note: this will force G-only speed (54Mb)
3. You you want to keep the N speed, put your phone in the highest possible QoS priority without disabling the "WMM Support"
Hope this helps

conneted but can't surf internet (error 404) but can only use opera mini (very very very slow).
Using other device no problem with the wifi..anyone can help me? TQ :crying:
The problems I am having with proxy and 404 errors are all caused by the Web Protection feature in Kaspersky Internet Security for Android since the OTA to Android 4.2.2 (it worked fine previously). I have installed the latest KIS 11.1.4.141 from the Kaspersky website (because Google Play says it is up to date at version 11.1.3) but the problem still occurs. So I have turned off Web Protection in KIS and all my issues have been cleared up.

I'm not having the exact same problem but I am having a problem with WiFi
Yesterday I received my wife's M9 upgrade and started setting it up. I noticed it was going REALLY slow downloading over Wi-Fi, so I activated the SIM and it dropped off the home network. It immediately picked up pace and apps began making download progress. I have more than a dozen other devices working without issue on my home network. When I reconnected it and attempted to reach any website, it just stalls.
Tonight I'll try pulling the SIM out and / or Factory Reset to see if I can get it working.
same problem
i have the same problem what should we do?
I returned my device and got another new one. Immediately out of the box it seemed to be working better but developed similar issues. I disabled a setting named minimize battery use on Wi-Fi and that seems to have improved it, but it still seems to have issue with my 5mhz 802.11AC router.
I think we can live with it the way it is, until they push a fix. Hopefully a fix anyway.

DNS issue?
My problem is similar to what Jason V described. My phone connects to my home WiFi okay, but the internet connection alternates between working very slowly, or not at all. Strangely, removing the SIM card from the phone fixes the WiFi connection, but as soon as I reintroduce the SIM card, the WiFi issues return.
I'm going to attempt changing the DNS server to see if that helps at all. If it does I'll let you know.

I was chatting to HTC for about one hour! But our biggest problem was that they don't know there is such a problem! They thought it's a problem just for me.
I informed them about it (at least, informed the chat person!) so I think we can expect an update from HTC in few weeks...
And that's weird that we can use Wi-Fi Hotspot but not connecting even finding networks!
I think the best is to wait a little...
But I'm still really confused that how did some other people updated their phone to 1.32.501.17 not 1.32.841.15 ?!
