[Q] VS985 with T-Mobile SIM. What roms can I use? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I've been trying to figure out what Roms I could use for my Verizon Unlocked variant. It's been hell pretty much because of the infamous Call Forwarding bug. Can I use a D850 Rom or something like that? I had a T-Mobile Note 2 before this and it used to support the International version and was wondering if it applies for this phone also. Any help would be appreciated.

Unlocked T999 Rom/Carrier Question

I have an unlocked T-Mobile S3 and I am ready activate it on Straight Talk which I believe uses ATTs network. My question is concerning custom roms; can anyone confirm that using roms specifically for the T-Mobile version will or will not cause issues if i use a different carrier?
Thanks

I was a bit confused because there are several threads/devs trying to make sure users know to flash the right rom for their phone version. I also know that the ATT & T-Mobile versions are identical, besides the ATT version supporting ATT's LTE frequency and TM's supporting their HSPA+ frequency, and since I bought this phone off contract w/o warranty I want to make sure don't end up with a $600 paperweight.
Thanks for your confirmation!
Wait... Just some that we're on the same page, I read that as if you took a T-Mo phone, with a custom ROM, unlocked it, and used the phone on another GSM carrier, would there be problems - the answer is no.
If you take a T-Mo phone and use another carrier's ROM that's not compatible with T-Mo's phone - yes you will have problems.

[Q] Flash T-Mobile Rom on AT&T M8??

I have an AT&T M8 which I unlocked, rooted and s-off'd while under AT&T contract. I then decided to switch to T-Mobile and give this device to my 11-year old son. What I'd like to know/understand is whether I can flash some of the T-Mobile Roms I see in this forum on the AT&T M8 and it work with T-Mobile network? Or do I still need to flash the AT&T Roms?
Thanks in advance for any help advice!
Johnny
SIM unlocked would allow you to use it on stock AT&T too if you choose to. Also everything seems to be interchangeable unless noted. I would go for Rom with T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling, which is amazing btw for those who get sorry service.

You should be able to flash either T-mobile or AT&T (Even roms in the international section, I would recommend InsertCoin) roms without any issues. Eleven and has a M8? Damn, i'm jealous lol.

Thanks for the information to the both ^^^^^^^^ of you! I appreciate it. Yes , he is 11 years old, but a good respectful kid and does well in school. With that I'm okay with giving him nice things. If that should change, then Daddy gets the M8 back!!! LOL
Somewhat related question... If I u were to use an AT&T model on T-Mobile, would everything work correctly, 3g/4g? Comparing the frequency bands online, the AT&T model is missing the 1700 band that the T-Mobile version has. Does that mean the phone doesn't have the hardware components to connect to it? Or is it capable of connecting, just that AT&T doesn't use that band? I'm asking because I want to pickup a used m8, but the T-Mobile version is going for around $100 more than all the other carrier's versions... Could I just SIM unlock an AT&T version and be set, or will some things not work?

That's a good question and hoping someone will have the answer. In the meantime I was able to SIM unlock my son's ATT M8 and install a TMobile SIM using stock ATT rom. So far everything has worked and the 4G symbol does appear in the task bar, although I'm not sure if that really means he's getting 4G. I did have to manually enter the APN settings so he could get mobile data when not connected to wifi.
Tmobile apn settings
Would you mind posting the apn settings that allowed your sons phone to work on 4g and send mms? Its the main reason I'm looking into flashing a Rom and would save me a lot of trouble as I have spent quite a bit of time searching for one that works on my phone and none seem to do the trick.

[Q] ROM Compatibility for a Unique Situation

Hi guys!
So I've had my G3 for 4 months now and I love it. I want to start flashing some new ROMs on it but I have a few questions.
I own a Verizon LG, so the VS985. However, I use it in Canada on FIdo (Rogers) Network.
Now my question is, what ROMs are safe for me to flash outside of the VS985 base ROMs?
The reason I ask is because I noticed one of the main reasons VZW users don't flash D855 ROMs is because of the connectivity issues with the CDMA radio.
So I guess my question is, if I've got no use for the CDMA radio anyway, is it safe for me to flash international ROMs on a VS985? I'm hoping someone experienced with developing on these devices can answer this (i.e what's the difference when a ROM is made specifically for VS985, like how Cloudy uploads patches specifically for the CDMA versions for VZW and Sprint).
Thanks guys!
Bump anyone ??

[Q] Changing from AT&T Note II to T-Mobile Note II

I have a quick question for you guys, what is if there is any difference between the T-Mo and the AT&T variants of the Note II? I currently own an unlocked AT&T version of it, but soon I will also own the T-Mobile version of it. I know T-Mobile's does not have KitKat and is stuck back at Jellybean 4.3. After that, is all I can think of a difference. I currently do have T-Mobile. Will I be making a huge mistake by going to that variant?

If you're asking if it's a mistake to use the T-Mobile Note on the T-Mobile network just because the official firmware is JellyBean, no, don't worry about that. There are tons of KitKat and Lollipop ROMs in the T889 forum because of some extraordinary developers. You'll be upgraded in no time. Plus, with an actual T-Mobile Note, you'll have Wi-Fi calling, and it'll be better for overall network compatibility, anyway. Some users of unlocked phones on different networks report data drops or unreceived photo texts, for example.
Hope this helps!

Thinkg about picking up a used LG G3

Hi,
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i545 (Verizon) that has the locked bootloader, and therefore has limited ROMs available. I am considering picking up a used LG G3 and would like to know if there are any "gotchas" to be aware of? On the Verizon G3 forum it appears root & recovery are doable via some back-flips. I'm curious if the AT&T and T-Mobile variants have any quirks to rooting, etc... I use my Verizon S4 with AT&T so I can go with either of the Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile variants of the G3.
Appreciate your feedback!
