How to Force the OTA? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I feel like a moron because mine hasn't updated automatically from 4.4.4. Any way to force the Lollipop update? I already checked and have the 24 wait period in effect. Thanks!

Happened to me as well. Go into settings, time and date, uncheck the automatic date/time function and move the date 1 day ahead. I would reboot the phone just in case, and check it again.

Weird - just did all that and it still says software is up to date. Any other suggestions?

Called AT&T to see if they could push Lollipop to my device. No dice. Tried the "move ahead one calendar day" trick, but it didn't work. Now it shows that I can't check again for 702 hours. Ha! Any other suggestions? Maybe it just hadn't rolled out to everyone yet. I'm in Chicago, if that matters.

If you don't have an issue wiping your data then you can use the stock Odin file in the general sub to flash it back to stock and update again.

I had my wife's phone updated with a push from AT&T. She had the same issue. They have to file a ti let and tech department did it but took a few days.

Thanks! Yeah, I might just do this.

Also if you factory restore your phone it will go back to the default 24hr wait.

I haven't really messed around with root stuff in a while, but I know even without root we used to be able to download the update, put it in the root or the SD card and rename it update.zip . Does this not work anymore? I really thought there would be a way to force the update somehow..

That would work if someone has captured the zip file or the download URL, which no one has done. Virtually every 5.0.1 related thread has someone asking for this, with the same response. No one has it, and if they did, it would be available in a stickied post.

Oh the woes of waiting for updates lol.
I remember with my OG moto droid waiting for 2.1 lol.
And how 2.2 blew my mind. Now look at it.

i had to flash oem kitkat to my att note 4, which right after the flash immediately got lollipop.
if you do got to the Samsung kiosk have them re-flash kitkat. then the download for lollipop will update after setup.

Force update to marshmallow?
Hi, absolute idiot when it comes to stuff like this.
So, i was searching through my apps list when i noticed AT&T software update.
I dont need any AT&T applications as i am in Australia and do not have AT&T.
i have tried to force an update by following the clearing data and force stopping the Google services frame work.
tried it multiple times, nothing.
Then i thought i could disable the app of the AT&T software update, and then i fell deeper into the rabbit hole of how OSPolice got in trouble and how there is 2 versions of package disabler pro.
So here i am, stuck with 5.1.1 and i have no idea what to do.
No, i am not going to root it. This is an AT&T phone, with a bootlocker on it. If anyone, *ANYONE*, can help me solve this small issue that would be much appreciated.

[Q] To Root or not Root?

let me give you some background info. I have owned my (AT&T) glide for less than a month coming from a overclocked milestone with CM7. Almost everyday I turn my computer on I go to XDA and skim over the rooting guides and the custom roms available. And then I read the "Read Before Updating" thread that says ICS is coming and it puts me off again. Even though my phone is unlocked and outside of the US now, so I not 100% certain I'll get anything. Every day I also check for updates on my phone, force check and everything.
So my question to you guys is this: Shall I patiently continue to wait it out in the fruitless hope something may well happen in the next month or two or bite the bullet and loose the bloatware now? I'm sure its a question on the minds of many glide owners right now
I put CWM + Osimood on mine just to get rid of the US-Centric bloatware, and am liking the cleanness of it. As you're in the UK too one thing you might sway you is that Osimood is based on Rogers which allows you to switch off 4G to save battery.
Why wait? Once it's out, it's pretty good chance it will be available here (or samfirmware). If you waited, would you even be able to get the AT&T OTA update through your UK operator? I would think you'd have to be on the AT&T home network to get the OTA.
But then again, it would take Samsung forever to finally get the ICS out for the CG.

Agreed since you are not in the States and on the AT&T Network I would Root and install a clean Rom with no BLoatware. Then when we get the ICS you simply flash it.
Thanks for the replies guys
When I check for an update it does say it checks the AT&T server, whether its actually checking the AT&T server or its just a generic message and it actually checks my provider server who knows.
Think I'm going to bit the bullet and get it rooted today
Go for it! There's so much more you can do when you're rooted. I'll never go back.

More than likely both
Just rooted it now, (well halfway there) seemed pretty easy to do, at least easier than my last phone.
when you flash the rom over you you do it in PDA section too or another option?
Just gonna download super user, ti backup, and a few other root only apps, have a quick play then flash to something else

If you did Clock work mod the instructions are:
1. Launch odin (v1.82 tested)
2. Boot your phone in "Download mode"
3. Select PDA in odin and choose the file "CWMR_recovery.tar.md5"
4. ONLY "auto reboot" must be check !!
Then just put aradat's kernel via CWM and your rooted. That is what I started with. Now I just flash everything with CWM and no longer touch Odin.
Right all fully rooted up.
In CWM it asks what device and only gives the choice of epic 4g and i9000 I tried the later and attempted to back up my current Rom and got and explanation mark in a triangle and a droid on my screen. not much happened for a few mins so i pulled the battery and rebooted it.
Any idea which I should select?
Thanks for all the help BTW

Where does it ask you that? I did not get any prompts. I just went to flash from SD card and then chose the file I wanted to flash. Took a few minutes then the flash was complete and on reboot it took a little while in setting everything up and then I got the Google prompt for an account to use. Oh and if you say thanks feel free to use the thank you button.
Probably talking about the CW App on the Market (not supported, don't use it!)
Sorry for confusing you, not in recovery, in Rom manager.
Ive actually put mine down now and just spent the last few hours trying to root my girlfriend's HTC Sensation, which has been a bit more long winded.
Nice gl have fun!

[Q] Trouble with OTA, can't find answer anywhere

Howdy all,
This here is my first post, and I'm pretty new to the android world as I just recently switched from the iphone to the GS3.
I have my phone rooted and had CWM installed, and some of the bloatware apps disabled. I tried to get the latest OTA from ATT and it wouldn't install with CWM. I went back to the stock recovery and re-ran the update. It got about 31% into the update and stopped, restarted, and said the update was interrupted. Then I tried the newest CWM (6. whatever) and that didn't work either. I've also enabled all the bloatware. Lastly, I tried Kies and it says that my phone is up to date even though I know the update was not applied.
I've searched high and low for the answer to this and can't find anything. I'm at the point where, since I'm new to the android scene, I'd like to get my phone back to the factory settings (unrooted and such) but I can't even find clear instructions on how to do that, either.
I'm used to the ease of jailbreaking the iphone, then restoring it via itunes whenever needed, but it seems that it may not be that simple with the GS3.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Maybe this thread will help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896773
Thanks! I'd still like to know how to restore to complete factory.
The ota is failing because of the frozen bloatware. There's a guide I wrote in the general section explaining how to go from rooted stock to rooted ota.

I was able to apply the OTA with bloatware frozen. It will fail if it's been removed, but freezing (through Titianium Backup) didn't break the process for me.

Download the unrooted, completely stock LG1 image from here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-I747
Flash that with Odin, then boot and install the OTA as normal. In the end, you'll be at LH9 completely stock, with the stock recovery and no root. If that's really what you want.

thank you so much. honestly, right now i think i should learn more about android and everything before i start really messing with it. it seems a lot different and, perhaps, more complicated and delicate than just jailbreaking an iphone, and right now, i just want a fully working phone that i don't need to worry about.
i really appreciate your help. thank you.
also, i never had any bloatware frozen except from the disable action in the application manager, it still never worked. thanks to everyone else who replied with some assistance.
UPDATE: I followed your directions, and went to check the ABOUT section of the phone. It still says my kernel is a USER one. My wife's un-messed-with GS3 does not say that. I think I may have missed something.

If you want to go back to stock and get update just use Kies.
Open Kies ( do not connect phone yet)
From Tools open Firmware Upgrate and Initalization
In model write exacly w/o quotes " SGH-I747" click OK
then write your Serial Number from under battery all capital letters click ok.
Put phone in download mode ( like for ODIN) click ok.
On next screen you see info about deleting data and if you want to procced. click OK
and connect phone you have in download mode to PC.
Follow instruction
After you get software installed this will look like new phone you get from store. Get update and enjoy.

I received the D851 10m OTA today. Some questions.

I apologize, I posted this in the wrong forum. Feel free to delete, I can't figure out how (I can only edit when I press the edit/delete button).

Don't update it. More than likely if you have twrp and root it will loop. I did mine this morning and it looped it. I had to factory reset with the lg tool. Just wait it out. The update isn't that serious.
Hey Danon, where did get the LG tool to factory reset? i feel victim to the same damn thing. Need to reset mine now.

First off, this question belongs in the Q&A not development
BUT. Regarding root, you never want to apply an OTA update, you never know if they could patch any rooting exploit and or lock the bootloader. Someone will most likely pull the update from the device and make us a flashable zip that will preserve root.
So for now do nothing at all
I have no intention of installing this update but how do I get rid of the persistent notification? It's annoying me.

I know on my S4 i337m when running the Google Play Edition ROM I modified this line in the build prop to the same line from the build prop in that update.
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/jgedlteue/jgedlte:4.4.4/KTU84P.S001/140602:user/release-keys
I'm assuming it would work on ours too if anyone has their phone updated and can post that (ro.build.fingerprint) line from their build prop.
Is there anyone that maybe posted an update we can flash on our Rooted/Non Stock Recovery phones?

Root breaks update. Always has. If you have changed any file, update fails. If you are using ls980 on any network other then sprint, update will fail as there are files changed.
I was rooted but unrooted and factory reset and it's doing the very same thing. I've got an unlocked LS980 G2 that's been flashed to the Boost Network. Currently running KitKat 4.4.2 , but when I proceed with install the phone resets, appears to install the update slowly till about half-way then skips straight to the end. After restarting itself, it's still running 4.4.2 and says no updates are available.
The phone was previously rooted, but I performed a full unroot via SuperSU, factory reset and confirmed via Root Checker. Any idea what's going wrong here?
Was it initially set as Sprint? The APN may be different which causes it to fail.

Grab root back, make a copy of your file from /system/etc/apns-conf.XML

Everyone has to remember that the update is very specific. Any change at all will break the update.
Usually it is just APN settings that may be changed on some. Especially boost being that it runs on sprint network.

"Compatibility Patch" LG G4

"Compatibility patch" update showed up in my notification area. When I clicked on it, it took me to the LG software update section and said that this file is needed to fix some issues with app compatibility.
After installing the program asks to reboot the phone. Once the notification is clicked on, the phone reboots.
Phone is not rooted. It seemed a little sketchy since there's really no other information anywhere else on the net. It seems a bunch of other people have got this but no real info.
Just wondering if anybody else has got this update.
Thanx.
I didn't get this "comp patch" as an individual update. Last week, I got the update with the security patches from July 1 (German G4, no branding), and it looks like that this patch was included. It now shows in the list of installed LG applications, where it didn't appear before. My wife (LG G3) got this patch as a single install (~1 week ago).
I have got this compatibility patch too, and in description of this app is 20160809 so it is 1 week old. But what was going about in that "fix"... :/
I've got the patch today too. But haven't rebooted yet.
U talking about this one? What is that supposed to do?
I have got this update and now it keep asking to reboot in notification bar. I have done restart many times but no luck.

If you have the encryption on then turn it off and reboot. That should resolve the issue and then you can turn it back on. Hope it works for you.

Hi Akarshad, I've got exactly the same issue. Installed, rebooted multiple times and the notification to reboot is still there telling me to reboot to finalise the install.
Problem with the Patch
I got the same patch on my LG V10. Thinking nothing of it I agreed to install and reboot. Once I had done so, I now have the Yellow Boot Warning at every boot. And also a bunch of my system apps stopped working. Camera, Phone, Music. I don't remember ever flashing a ROM that would trigger the warning seeing as how I got the update to 6.0.1 a few days before and hadn't done anything since. So I flashed back to stock with LGUP and the problems still persist. This is my first post ever, any advice. I apologize as I know this is a LGG4 thread.
If you did anything to the system image, you may have issues applying the OTA. @SixTheAmateur: did you modify in any way your V10? Did you flash a KDZ not officially available to your V10?
