My s4's gyro sensor stopped working one day. After some research, this is a pretty common issue. I really hope it can be fixed with just software, but I am willing to accept it's a hardware issue. Nothing I've tried works, including flashing to stock and calibration. I'm stuck here, and I'm wondering if there's a way to switch between portrait and landscape using the auto-rotate button in quick settings. on lollipop, by the way. thanks

After flashing a few ROM's I noticed my accelerometer, g-sensor, and magnetometer (compass) stopped working. I thought it might be the ROM that I was using so I restored stock and they still aren't working. I did a factory wipe and it still doesn't work.
If anyone has a fix for this I'd be very happy.
Also, where are these sensors physically located? I have opened my case when I fixed my spring so I want to know if I messed anything up then. Although the sensors were working fine for quite a while after.
thanks for any help!

I am having the same issue. I have rebooted and re romed like 5 times with no change.
Same problem
I have the same problem, but only for the g-sensor.
It was the same story after installing a custom rom the sensor stopped. This would'nt work again with any other rom.
Please an advice?
Hi all i have a DHD with a screwed failed Proximity sensor and was wondering if it can be replaced.
I have looked at all the videos of tear downs, done the calibration the works and Sensor doesn't work at all not even it its factory stock rom.
So how does one go about replacing that part if its possible.
I very much doubt it will be as simple as replacing the casing.
Please help.

I have the exact same problem, phone has been flawless for 2+ years. Was away on holiday recently and used the night clock mode, power attached with the phone in landscape mode - following morning, no more rotation, calibration tool doesn't register anything, other market proximity tools show a sensor present but don't function.
Cleaned the sensor with a fine brush, no change, re-flashed a couple of roms with full factory reset, no change.
I can only assume the sensor has failed - shame this phone has been excellent - especially with the dedicated ROM community behind it.
I am now facing a full tear down next to try and clean the sensor fully, although suspect this will make no difference.
Can the proximity sensor be sourced as a part, or does anyone have any other suggestions/ things to try?
UPDATE: Following the guide on this thread fixed it for me!
I have a huge problem with my note 2,none of my sensors work, i don't know what could be the problem, any kind of help is welcome
Maybe screen protector cause to this problem or you have a hardware issue.
well i don't have a screen protector, and also the gyroscope isn't working, what could be the problem in hardware?and how much would fixing it cost?

yes but that's only for the g-sensor,how about the others can't it be another problem if none of them work?Flexible band maybe? My light sensor,accelerometer,g-sensor none of them work
So i downloaded an app for sensor testing and the readings work on everything accelerometer g-sensor,light sensor, everything,so it isn't a hardware problem. But why won't they work in the menus and apps?Help please.
my device is LG-G3-D855.
after upgrading the software to android 5.0 from LG PC Suit, and after a day passed, I noticed that my auto-rotation is not working, and the proximity sensor is not responding during a call and the screen remains active.
I tested the sensors through hidden menu and saw that they are actually working and they are not stocked.
what is the solution? is it a software problem?
I also did downgrade the OS to the stock one and the problem still remains.
I'm sorry I am not able to help, but I am able to tell you I came to the forums today to post the exact same issue.
I had been using Liquid and CM12 for a while and my proximity sensors and brightness sensors (as well as screen turning off when I bring phone to my ear) were not working. I simply assumed it was an AOSP problem.
I just recently flashed the new stock lollipop rom that's on the development forum and I am having the same problem still. I do not know how to fix it and I'm hoping someone out there can help us!
edit: everytime I try to recalibrate the proximity sensor in settings, settings 'unexpectantly closes'

Have you had any luck on finding a solution to this? I've been in the same boat for a couple months now.

Dang, same thing on my end. I've tried several different Roms/Kernels and still nothing. If I find a solution, I'll be sure to let you know!
Bump
Im having this issue as well. Anyone?
I've just resolved the same issue. No matter ROM I flashed to my LG G3 all the sensors were gone. The only thing it fixed that was flashing TOT using lg flash. More details on : htt ps: //forum.xda-developers. com/showthread .php?t= 2785089
ADD: The updated method worked for me NOT the original one.
Fingers crossed.
Hi guys, I'm currently on AEX 4.6, everything is running smoothly but all of the sudden my fingerprints sensor is not working as well as the slide options. The actual button works. It clicks so I'm managing to use the phone normally but no u-touch function. I've already tried different roms and nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I'm afraid it's a hardware problem.
I'm glad to say that I found the solution for this problem on another thread. The sensor driver might have had an issue, so installing it again will solve the malfunction. After all it wasn't a real hardware problem. Just download the file I'm sending and restart your phone so it'll come back to life again

PS: it didn't work at first with me. So I sort of gave up then I tried another time and it worked.
