Hi there,
I have been a lurker on the forums for a long time but am posting for the first time today. I know this belongs in the developer forums but being a new user, I'm not allowed to post there.
I'm having an issue with my NFC option being greyed out in my settings after having intsalled AK Pirates kernel and Paranoid Android Feb20 Beta release. This has been destroying my battery life so all I want to do is disable it but I cannot because it's greyed out. I've searched all that I can but to no avail and I was wondering if anyone can help.
Thanks!
Are you using a cheap aftermarket battery? The NFC antenna connects to the battery, which is why certain batteries are labeled NFC-Enabled. Try another battery and see if that resolves the issue(s).

Nope. I'm using the original Samsung battery that came with the device. It says Near Field Communication on it.
Try opening Google Wallet first, and then go back to NFC settings to turn it off. Also, try removing the battery and checking the contact pins to make sure none are bent/clogged with dirt.

I don't have Google Wallet on my device. It's really strange why this is such an isolated issue to me
Reflash stock ROM
Sent from my Nexus
OK I have Verizon Galaxy Nexus and for some strange reason. My NFC is entirely disabled. I am running full stock rom, locked bootloader.
I had the Google Wallet app installed when they first opened it. I used it mostly for the loyalty cards function but I decided today to try the NFC. Well I opened the program and it started saying the NFC was disabled. I never disabled it because I use it for other things (Mostly for my GPS in my car. I have a tag that enables the GPS and opens a Car Home app that i have automatically.) Going to the settings it shows the NFC option with the checkmark. but it's greyed out. I can't re-enable it.
So I figure I might've burned out the antenna on the battery. Nope. Switching the batteries to a spare that I have yield's a similar result. Namely that I can attempt to check the checkbox. But if I do it just grey's out and won't check the box.
What the heck is going on!?
do you have the official samsung batteries?
Absolutely. I don't use off branded batteries. I've had problems with them in the past with thrid party batteries on other phones.
So yes. I have 2 Samsung official batteries. I primarily use the Extended battery in my phone. I do have a standard battery which is the spare that I alluded to about testing to make sure the NFC antenna from the Extended wasn't shot.
Here's a screen shot of what the option looks like for those of you wondering.
It looks like this when I start the phone. But when I try to go through settings from the wallet app. It shows up clickable, but when I check it. It just sits there and does nothing. I've even set it to try to use it while the phone is prevented from sleeping for 35 minutes. Nothing happened!
Something is screwed up there. I have a non-NFC compatible battery but I can check or uncheck the box. Might have to do a factory reset.

Having had a FitBit Force for a while before sending it back due to rash issues. I miss the stock phone app that displays the stats from the fitbit band.. It displays Steps, Floors, Miles, Very Active Minutes, and calories).
Is there a phone app that will pull the fitness data (steps, heartbeat, etc) from the watch and display/store it on the phone?
Or do we have to wait for Google Fit before we see anything?
I would love to see a 3rd party step in and give us an app with such features, however I believe we will have to wait until the official release of Android L and Fit. I have wished several time that there was a way it could give more detail such as steps for each hour and others.
I agree. I have a FitBit and the step counts are typically WAY off of what the 360 shows me. Definitely am looking forward to a FitBit integration with Android Wear...if that even happens.

Which shows higher? My phone, fitbit, and moto360 are all within hundred steps by the end of day.
my fitbit force was always high! especially the more my arm shook.
When I used the snow blower over the winter, my step count went through the roof! I mean, I know we have a big drive way, but there is no way I walked three+ miles while clearing it.
My FitBit is always higher.
What's the difference between the force and flex?

Force has a built in small display. It showed Time, step count, floors, etc on the device itself. No need to use the app on the phone to see your stats throughout the day. Unlike the flex, you can't change the writs band on the Force.
Flex is the Force minus the display screen, but with changeable wrist bands.
I use vimo. seems accurate and great ux.

yup, Moto 360 will be your step tracker.
Curious to see if anyone use the google fit app along with thier watch? I've noticed that the two are no synced (# of steps recorded from Fit greatly differs from watch - which makes sense as my phone is not always on me when I move around).
so how do sync the data from my watch to be shown on the google fit app? or is that only shown on another app (like moto body or something else)?
basically, I want to use the Fit app to record my weight and see the metrics of my steps, heart rate, etc. but I only want the steps to be recorded from the watch.
thanks!
I think you have to bear in mind that fitness-wise any smartwatch (even those with GPS on board) will never be anything more but a compromise for a real fitness watch. It's a nice to have for a smartwatch and maybe data aquisition quality improves in the future but I'm sure this remains playground.
I am seriously pissed with google fit. before i got it, my watch did pretty well taking my steps. now it only takes them when i carry my phone and it resets midday all the time, ex. it said 125 steps at 10 am then 34 at 3 pm. wtf! I like the look and how it keeps records, but im going to delete it soon.

That could be related to how the app syncs with the watch. Check the app settings in android wear.

yeah i did that. i had to switch my heart rate and steps to moto body. moto body told me i took ~2800 steps where google fit said 169 steps for the whole day. 2800 is way closer, still low i feel, but 169 is no where close.
As of now, Google Fit on the phone does not sync to the watch.

Yeah mine is not working too

Not sure about others but since I installed Fit on my phone, my phone battery has taken a hit. I have since disabled it.

Me too. I left a review on the app in the market. If enough people do, then perhaps they'll adjust it.
I don't have an issue with Google Fit.
I occassionally walk around with my phone on my desk, or with my watch charging (and my phone in my pocket).
Initally the steps are out of sync, but once Fit sync's the data, they match up (ie if watch is showing 1500 steps, and phone is showing 400 steps, within 15-20mins of sitting at my desk, I'll check, and my steps have been updated to 1900 in google Fit.
By the end of the day, my Google Fit steps usually matches my Moto Step count.

In the android wear app, what app is synced with steps - moto body steps or google fit?
Google Fit for steps, Moto Heart Rate for heart rate.

I re-enabled activity detection, and my steps began to sync - however, the phone's steps count appear to override the watch's step count. for example, I noticed this morning on my watch that my step count was 147, but the phone read 93. when I pulled down the step count on the phone to force a sync, the watch suddenly read 93. I would like for the watch to override the phone on this statistic, but not sure how.
Well, I installed google fit yesterday and took a long walk today i expect that the data was different in watch and phone but... it sync; the data in watch and phone is the same, the past data was not sync but i don't care.
Due to battery drain problem, I turned off location history , don't know why the Google fit forced to use location history . if you do the location on /off frequently, it will screwed up the syncing, the logic is the phone steps overriding watch , most of the time , I did not bring my phone out while going for a long exercise. It is mad to see my watch's steps of 10000 being reset to the phone value and the wrong recording being pushed to my watch steps history.

This. Happens to me constantly. As a result, I uninstalled Google Fit. Presumably when I update to Lollipop I'll have to disable it. Candidly, it seems like a very minor bit of code to fix the issue but it's not there yet. As a result, I just use Moto Body, though I wish that they had an app to monitor it as well. Incidentally, having removed Google Fit, I can share that my battery life has improved dramatically.

Update to fit app (and android wear too). We'll see if they corrected the battery drain issues.

I Really regret buying the moto365 now. I think I am just going to sell this thing when the up3 comes out and wait for a few years before I go back to a smart watch. Google fit is an absolute joke compared to just about any other fitness tracking software you can find. I had a Fitbit Surge for a while and it was extremely accurate but the bands are too small for even an average sized man. So that went back for a refund.
Very disappointed.

Hi guys, so i just got a moto 360 on the 31st of July and till now im disappointed with it.
The thing is after i have read may posts about the battery life the conclusion i get is that i need to give some time to the watch so the battery can "normalize"?. It´s so bad right now, if i leave the watch home without any use i get a 10% drop in about 4 hours, but as soon as i put it on my wrist i can literally see the battery drop % by %.
So should i give the watch a few more days and charges or should i be worried and return it?
Another issue i have it´s with the android wear app. I can't seem to find that gear icon to go to the definitions. I simply can´t access the definitions on the app on my phone.
PS: I've tried some steps to improve battery life but to no success. They included reseting the watch and cleaning cache etc...
Dunno man, I am not crazy about the battery life, but I get through a full day. I don't use the wifi at all on the watch, but I can easily get through the day. I have some unique problems with my work phone, but the device it cool. I can say for the current price point, I'm pretty happy. The gurus here are cool too, so I'm sure someone smarter than I am can pipe in.
Good luck
It took mine about 4 days to settle in. My brother's took a week. Hang in there. My watch has been on my wrist since 6:30 this morning....it's 9:45 and I have 65% left.
The gear is on the top right of the wear app.

The thing is that the process to begin with gave me trouble. I couldn't pair the watch trough android wear properly so i did pair the watch with my phone trough Bluetooth and android wear seamed to work. I could only change faces and such. On the other hand moto connect said my watch was connected.
