[Q] abnormal use of ram - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hello everyone,
recently my GNEX seems to suffer from a mysterious problem : it want to eat all the ram .
The phone is not rooted , and has the stock rom 4.3 . There are few app installed, and 8gb of free space.
when I turn on the phone everything works fine : there are between 150mb and 250mb of free ram; some app in use (usually : facebook , fb messenger , whatsapp , google keyboard , google play service) and some app cache ( clock , hangouts , es file explorer , etc ... ) .
After a few hours of use , sometimes after a couple of hours at other times at the end of the day, the ram is consumed by " something " : there are no more in app cache , the free ram is 0 , all apps try to restart. The phone is completely unusable , the app that I try to open close immediately , from home to app drawer (usually instant ) takes tens of seconds.
Only solution : turn off the phone and restart.
What can I do?

Facebook app is the culprit, uninstall it.

I have to agree with Killer. The Facebook app is a RAM killer. Try to uninstall it and use the browser version. I think its faster, although you won't get notifications from it

Go to app setting and try to clear data/cache. Enable your wifi, open market. Press home and let it wait (update).
Faceapp, try to unistall updates and update from market.

May the backup waring is not a decoration.
Maybe you can import them from simcard. If they are there.
The data files for your app should be on your SD. Your purcase of the game in market is/ should be registered. Just redownload the app from market

Normal autosync is sync whit your Gmail account (the mine does), so your contacts are sync whit your Gmail account, that what you use whit your Google Play account. So if you sync again, you have your contacts back. If you don't have your contacts back, it is a option to sync your contacts in the future.

Background data usage

I've had my HOX for a week now. The first four days of this billing cycle
Android OS has used 450mb of background data which is unreal to me. On my HD2 I removed Facebook and tons of other apps I didn't use which cut down background data to almost nothing. What can I do to cut it down dramatically on this phone? At this rate my entire 3gb if data will be used up in no time on background data alone. Thanks.

That's way too much data for the time period. Have you got Play store updates set to update over 3G? If so you should restrict it to update on WiFi only.
Also, in settings, more, usage, it should tell you what apps have been consuming data.

Disable any apps when not in use. Or simply turn off data when you are in wifi capable areas. Simple as that. Or just repeat what you have done with your HD2.

Disable Autosync{ it syncs your gmail, facebook, dropbox and other apps too } and u can also change weather updates to manual.
You may also check it urself what apps consumes too much data Settings >> More >> Usage. Then decided what to to..
Autosync syncs your gmail, facebook, dropbox and other apps too and consumes a lot of data so always disable it to save data
and in google play don't allow apps to update automatically...

How to make G9 with 512mb something usable

I went trough an odyssey since I bough my Archos G90 Turbo some years ago.
If you have this device you may be familiar with this: constant application freezes and crashes, big keyboard lag, system reboots, can not wake up from sleep, fast battery drain, and a large etcetera of nuisances that make you sad and willing to crush this piece of ****.
After trying almost all the firmwares on the forum thread dedicated to this device I have come to a solution and I wanted to left it here so maybe it helps someone.
The problem with this device is the lack of ram, 512mb is very little and system comes full of bloatware and a lot of applications leave daemons running even when they are not running.
I have installed the stock rooted version of firmware 4.0.7 as some pointed out that is the one that runs better on 512mb devices, and then I have installed root uninstaller and started to remove all apps and services that I don't need.
For instance I have uninstalled:
clock, contacts, contact storage, DRM protected content storage, exchange services, gallery, Gmail, Google+, Google contacts sync, Google play store, Google search, Google tts engine , media center, media storage, media scrapper, talk, talk back, voice search, Japanese keyboard.
There are some system applications that can be replaced for others that use less memory and don't leave daemons like:
play store -> aptoide
gallery -> quickpic (solves problem of being unable to enter deep sleep)
media player -> mx player
browser -> opera mini
Gmail app -> email app
I have also avoided synchronizing anything, or installing applications I use sporadically.
I'm using the tablet since a couple of weeks after doing this and it finally works fine.

Dual Messenger (WhatsApp + Contact Storage) High Battery Drain

I have recently done a fresh reset to factory default on my phone, and then installed apps. After that I have a strange high battery usage that it seems related to the 2nd WhatsApp that I've installed using the Dual Messenger feature. The battery usage shows that the "contact storage" is using ~25% of battery life, but the dual messenger app also shows the same, screenshots are attached.
When I uninstall the second WhatsApp it seems the problem gets fixed.
Couldn't find any solution for that. Just one post that was related to outlook, but I am not using outlook. Do you have any idea? Thank you (Please don't offer the reset to the factory as a solution!)
I don't trust that app or use it.
If you don't need it, don't load it.
Otherwise you can play with it's settings/notifications and try to tone it down.
If it looks like/acts like bugware, it's bugware...
