I am one of those people who have a crack on my nexus screen.
its not a major crack in the middle of my screen so I am not rushing to get it fixed, but when I contacted a lot of repair shops near me, the price to replace the LCD is seems to range in $300-400.
will this price ever go down? some guy told me it will only go up as time passes..
im not sure if he said that so I'll go fix my phone at his shop
or
if he was being honest...
so the question is
will the price of repair cost for this phone go down eventually? if so, will it ever be around $100-200?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Gonna have to do it yourself for a fraction of the price. It is not worth it to pay $300 for a repair... that's well over 1/2 the price of what a used device goes for. Even like $200 is atrociously high.
The cheapest I have found the replacement screen is $269, so the quotes you are getting sound about right. You could try to buy the screen and do it yourself. If you want to try it, here is a link to the part on Ebay: http://tinyw.in/vXxI. Also, for a complete teardown tutorial go here: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Teardown/7182/1. Even though that is for the GSM model, it should still help you out because there isn't much difference.
As far as him telling you that it will get more expensive, I don't know. It is possible because because of supply and demand. It's also possible it could get cheaper especially if third party Chinese vendors start making them. You can get a screen & digitizer for an iPhone 3GS for $8 from China. They are not the same quality you would get from OEM's, but they do work. I have bought and fixed many, many broken iPhones and used the aftermarket screens and sold them for profit. The problem is, the Galaxy Nexus is not near as popular as the iPhone, so it's hit or miss whether or not these thrid party vendors will make them. If it was a Galaxy S 2, you could probably find it.
Good luck!
PS. Get the insurance next time. You would have to pay $100 deductible, but you would get a refurbished or brand new phone and usually the next business day after filing the claim.
You should definitely give Samsung a call, you should see the answers I posted in my related thread: [Q] Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515) Replacement Screen -- Answered and see if my notes there help you. I got my phone repaired for less than $165.00 which seems to be in your $100-$200 range.
Getting it repaired for $270 is INSANE people...you could get a new Galaxy Nexus for $349 from the Play Store right now.
I just cracked my screen (so dumb and I just knew it was cracked fro mthe way it hit the ground completely flat on the screen)...Samsung told me it will cost me $250 not including shipping...others have told me different prices from Samsung which is very disconcerting....I said screw it and ordered the entire LCD/Digitizer display from Ebay for $199 with expedited shipping which came out to $224....I'm pissed about about paying this price but I have a white Galaxy Nexus and want to keep a white one....so I just got fed up and ordered it...the process for doing it yourself doesn't seem too hard...and I already have a screw driver that fits the screws holding the phone together behind the battery door...hopefully all goes well tomorrow.
I actually just got off chat support with a Samsung rep, and they told me that it would be roughly $165 to send it in for replacement. Most everything else hovers around $150-$200, so I figure I'll just send it in to them.
Botched Attempt, WHAT TO look out for

Botched Attempt, WHAT TO look out for
I just bought a new OEM screen digitizer LCD for less than 85. shipped on eBay.
Yeah, I had a crack in the digitizer glass. I bought a used ebay screen for $50 and replaced it myself. Works like a charm.
Hi guys,
I'm very new to the forums. I have been using various tablets for the last few years now, but my favourite is the Samsung Galaxy Notes, I have had the 8.0(G5110), the n8013, and now the P600. I love love love the way the S-Pen works.
Anyway, I bought the P600 on ebay, with broken glass. I had bought the n8013 on ebay with broken glass as well, and it was easy to replace. No big deal. I assumed the P600 would be the same, but boy, was I WRONG!! I couldn't find any breakdown or repair videos for the P600 on youtube, for the screen. I thought I was too cool and could figure it out, so I went about taking it apart. I think that some of the seasoned people here will know what happened next right? I broke the LCD screen inside, because the damn thing was fused/glued to the digitizer. FML!!! Anyway, I learned from that mistake. Now, I'm having trouble finding a replacement LCD assembly for it, for a sensible price. Does anyone know where the absolute cheapest replacement LCD for the P600 can be found? Is it ebay?
Another important thing, can the LCD from the n8013 be used in the P600? I tried the charging connector out of the P600 in the N8013, because there is a problem with the charging port of the n8013, and when I put the end of the charging connector from the p600 in the n8013, without ever being plugged into actual electricity, the cable got hot, the actual ribbon charging one, not the outlet charger. I'm assuming it might be a different voltage, different conduction or something. I'm making stuff up to sound smart now. LOL.
Anyway, any advice at all on this, or where I should look, please let me know. I have searched a few times for tips and ideas on how to fix things, and this forum has shown up more than a dozen times during my various searches, so I figured I would finally join and post.
Also, even though I did some stupid things with these tablets, I am a fairly intelligent person. I just learn more from mistakes than I do from never making a mistake...lol
find it on Ebay. The one made from China is about 175$ but I don't trust this. I found this one for you, 207$ seems to be the cheapest.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to look for me. I should have mentioned that I'm in Canada, that seller doesn't ship to Canada. Why didn't you trust the other seller, who was cheaper?

because the screen made in China (clone) and I don't know if it has the same specs as the original screen. You would want to buy a used screen instead.
How about this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Touch-D...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item19f5cb6e4d
I don't mind buying used, if it works. I'm hoping to keep it around $175 or so, as that's about as far as I can stretch my budget at the moment. If I can't get one for that, I will have to wait for a little while. I was hoping I didn't have to. Do you know if the lcd from the n8013 would be compatible? Thanks again for your help!

No it's not compatible, don't try it, it may smoke your main board.

I have had 2 Galaxy Tab S 8.4 units so far. Both were purchased brand new from Anazon and both have had the so-called "mura effect." Built-in color adjustment in settings and factory data reset did not solve my problem. Screen homogenity has been poor on both as well. Am I just getting faulty or defective display panels? Other that this, the tablet seems perfect. From which retailer can I purchase this unit and be guaranteed a Samsung panel? Is such a guarantee possible, even if I order directly from Samsung? Thank you in advance.
Well it most likely deffective. When you put a black picture on the tablet does it have a weird greenish or something color? I got mine from walmart and nothing is deffective here. It seems to be that the faulty mura effect on this tablet comes from amazon (my guess not accurrate). Buying from samaung or bestbuy would probaly lower your chances of getting a faulty one. I think bestbuy has em in stores or even a sale as im not sure. Hope this helps!

Thank you. Yep; those are the symptoms. I returned my first and the second had it even worse. Just curious--is there any other reason you suspect Amazon might have a hanfful of faulty tabs? Another member post sonething similar? Just trying to compare notes. The display tab at my local Walmart seemed to have it too. Best Buy's I'm not sure about because rheir display unit had serious screen burn-in from looping the promo video for nearly 6 solid months. Do you know what Best Buy's return period is? I bought my tab from Amazon originally because I knew they had a 30-day policy for returns and exchanges. I'll check Best Buy anyway. Spoke to a Samsung sales rep there a couple of weeks ago and he had never seen anything like my display. Thank you again!!

I know that walmart return peroid online is 20 days but I cannot guarantee a full return depending on your walmarts. Wished it was longer.! Well the screen burnins happened because of the looping video lol. Screen burning happens when you keep it at the same picture or video too long then it burns in. Its a problem with amoled. You shouldnt be worried as long as you dont go on facebook for 5 hours straight. Best to check at best buy as I never go there. I have no idea where amazon gets their batches of tablets. Someone in a thread somewhere got theirs from amazon and it had a different firmware base and wasnt a UK one.
When you put a black picture on the tab s is there a greenish color? For me when i do that its pitch black. If you continue to have problems or thinking of not getting this tablet, you should get the tab pro or note. They are cheaper and sorta a bit lower specs than the tab s but should still do well. The problems you are having might be because of the amoled screens meanwhile the tab pro and note dont use that. Hope this helps.
Thank you. Really disappointed that this has happened twice. I'm definitely done ordering big-ticket items like this from online retailers if I can avoid it. Willing to try again purchasing this tab locally, but I want to make sure I get a Samsung panel, not one from AUO or any of the other manufacturers who might have their hand in the pot. Before I post a specific thread on this--can anyone tell me more about the panel designations? Where can I find that number/code on my current unit or box and which one should I look for in the store?
TIA.
My unit also got this greenish issue.
Later will try check and exchange with local (Malaysia) shop.
Hi there,
I am a Oneplus 3 owner from California, USA. a few months ago I dropped my phone and cracked my screen.
Using videos on YouTube I repaired the screen and was using my Oneplus 3 for the past 2 months just fine.
Yesterday I dropped my phone and the screen is fine, but I got purple spots all over the screen to the point where it is no longer usable.
Oneplus has offered to fix my phone for about $100. I find that very fair, but since I've already paid $150 to do that myself the first time I am not looking at sinking $250 into this phone. I'd rather get a new Oneplus 3T.
Is anyone interested in my Oneplus 3? I would sell it for $150 if anyone is interested. or I can sell individual parts like the bottom charging port, or the cameras, battery, etc. I would be willing to piece my 3 out if people need parts.
Sorry for the long post - I felt it was necessary to explain and be transparent for those wanting parts/the phone. I will add pictures once I get a new phone.
I would like to buy a Note 10 plus. Thought about buy a new tmobile variant on ebay off a seller that has 2k sales but have read you may get screwed as they may get locked out if reported stolen. Would it be possible to buy the Unlock variant and flash tmobil firmware on it? Been looking at some threads, it looks like it's possible but I dont know enough to be 100% and maybe someone can tell me. Maybe I'll buy a Amazon Renewed one and flash it if possible otherwise my only other option would be to spend 700 on Ebay and hope it's not a return or some other open box form.
Don't understand your problem...you want an unused/new phone from ebay?
I bought recently 2 note 10+ from ebay and both arrived safely and are working fine. Both came with their box and are about 1 year old. The 1st one is a black one and has some light screen burn on the lower part of the display only visible when watching a light image or video. Except for that it has good battery life and is cosmetically in very good condition.
The 2nd one I bought very cheap, came with both the display and rear glass cracked but in good working order. I replaced the display including the frame and rear glass. The display came with a new OEM battery. Its now a converted aura glow into a white one. Except for its main board, camera's etc its a new phone.
I bought the new display for the first one but then decided that the screen burn was not enough to replace that good working screen, I hardly notice it so the idea came to buy a damaged one and repair that one...Have not decided which one I keep. Maybe the misses will give up her note 9 and take one of the note 10's.
When buying of ebay look at the pictures, ask for a invoice and see how the seller replies to your questions. I bought many phones, computer, watches etc, all high dollar items and have never been disappointed. If its to good to be true walk away, nobody will give you presents in this society!
