Hi there,
I am a Oneplus 3 owner from California, USA. a few months ago I dropped my phone and cracked my screen.
Using videos on YouTube I repaired the screen and was using my Oneplus 3 for the past 2 months just fine.
Yesterday I dropped my phone and the screen is fine, but I got purple spots all over the screen to the point where it is no longer usable.
Oneplus has offered to fix my phone for about $100. I find that very fair, but since I've already paid $150 to do that myself the first time I am not looking at sinking $250 into this phone. I'd rather get a new Oneplus 3T.
Is anyone interested in my Oneplus 3? I would sell it for $150 if anyone is interested. or I can sell individual parts like the bottom charging port, or the cameras, battery, etc. I would be willing to piece my 3 out if people need parts.
Sorry for the long post - I felt it was necessary to explain and be transparent for those wanting parts/the phone. I will add pictures once I get a new phone.

I am one of those people who have a crack on my nexus screen.
its not a major crack in the middle of my screen so I am not rushing to get it fixed, but when I contacted a lot of repair shops near me, the price to replace the LCD is seems to range in $300-400.
will this price ever go down? some guy told me it will only go up as time passes..
im not sure if he said that so I'll go fix my phone at his shop
or
if he was being honest...
so the question is
will the price of repair cost for this phone go down eventually? if so, will it ever be around $100-200?

Gonna have to do it yourself for a fraction of the price. It is not worth it to pay $300 for a repair... that's well over 1/2 the price of what a used device goes for. Even like $200 is atrociously high.
The cheapest I have found the replacement screen is $269, so the quotes you are getting sound about right. You could try to buy the screen and do it yourself. If you want to try it, here is a link to the part on Ebay: http://tinyw.in/vXxI. Also, for a complete teardown tutorial go here: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Teardown/7182/1. Even though that is for the GSM model, it should still help you out because there isn't much difference.
As far as him telling you that it will get more expensive, I don't know. It is possible because because of supply and demand. It's also possible it could get cheaper especially if third party Chinese vendors start making them. You can get a screen & digitizer for an iPhone 3GS for $8 from China. They are not the same quality you would get from OEM's, but they do work. I have bought and fixed many, many broken iPhones and used the aftermarket screens and sold them for profit. The problem is, the Galaxy Nexus is not near as popular as the iPhone, so it's hit or miss whether or not these thrid party vendors will make them. If it was a Galaxy S 2, you could probably find it.
Good luck!
PS. Get the insurance next time. You would have to pay $100 deductible, but you would get a refurbished or brand new phone and usually the next business day after filing the claim.
You should definitely give Samsung a call, you should see the answers I posted in my related thread: [Q] Galaxy Nexus (SCH-i515) Replacement Screen -- Answered and see if my notes there help you. I got my phone repaired for less than $165.00 which seems to be in your $100-$200 range.
Getting it repaired for $270 is INSANE people...you could get a new Galaxy Nexus for $349 from the Play Store right now.
I just cracked my screen (so dumb and I just knew it was cracked fro mthe way it hit the ground completely flat on the screen)...Samsung told me it will cost me $250 not including shipping...others have told me different prices from Samsung which is very disconcerting....I said screw it and ordered the entire LCD/Digitizer display from Ebay for $199 with expedited shipping which came out to $224....I'm pissed about about paying this price but I have a white Galaxy Nexus and want to keep a white one....so I just got fed up and ordered it...the process for doing it yourself doesn't seem too hard...and I already have a screw driver that fits the screws holding the phone together behind the battery door...hopefully all goes well tomorrow.
I actually just got off chat support with a Samsung rep, and they told me that it would be roughly $165 to send it in for replacement. Most everything else hovers around $150-$200, so I figure I'll just send it in to them.
Botched Attempt, WHAT TO look out for

Botched Attempt, WHAT TO look out for
I just bought a new OEM screen digitizer LCD for less than 85. shipped on eBay.
Yeah, I had a crack in the digitizer glass. I bought a used ebay screen for $50 and replaced it myself. Works like a charm.
So a few weeks ago I noticed some dark spots on my tablet and then my screen turned dark and was going in and out. To such horror I found out that LEDs were most like busted and my screen would eventually die. My tablet being out of warranty, samsung wanted like 200 deposit down with shipping cost just to look at and possibly another if the could repair it which is basically the cost of a new tablet. I love this thing as it's good for just to pick and I miss reading magazines on it lol.
Anyhow I know there are several outlets that sell the LCD and digtizer together. What I wanted to know is if anyone knew of a good site to find the parts needed to repair my beloved device and also is it worth it?
Thanks in advance
So about a month ago I was sitting in class with a group of my kids when one of them came over with his computer went to show me his screen knocked my stainless steel tumbler onto the corner of my screen and broke it. Principal said that sucks but wasn't interested in getting the kids parents involved was hoping replace the screen. I'm seeing a range of 200 to $220 for replacing the screen. I didn't see putting that much money into a year old phone and succumbs to the pressure of getting the OnePlus 6t. Should I sell the phone as it is, fix the screen and sell it? After watching my brother sale three different times replacing his s8 screen I don't think I want to try it myself. I am liking this 6t A LOT, the camera is a huge step down

I would sell as is and get a cheap phone to hold me down until the Pixel 4 XL.
Or you you could always install the Pixel 3 camera on the 6T and get improved results.

You can sell it for about $200-$230 depending on storage as is on Ebay and it will probably sell quick assuming the back didn't get dinged too. If you put $200 into a screen it'll sell for about $440 and you still make about the same amount profit after all is said and done. Save yourself the headache and put it on eBay as is.

I had my screen replaced 2 weeks ago - I dropped the phone on solid tiles when I came home at 5AM and wasn't exactly sober :silly:
Here in Germany the screen cost €180 and the total bill for the repair was €250.
My Pixel 2 XL still has 2 years or more life expectancy, so I think it was worth the cost. I wouldn't want to go back to a non-Google device, not even a OnePlus.
Update. I've been on the Op6t since mine was broken, right around launch . I came back to my broken pixel to try Android q, it just feels like home again. Part of me wants to sell the op and fix the screen..
Hi everyone.
My brother just updated his OnePlus 7T to a brand new OnePlus 9, so I "inherited" his 7T. The screen is cracked, but it still works, and the back cover is totally cracked too. I just searched in OnePlus and the repair will be around 200-250€. Is it still worth? Or should I just try to buy a new one?
Thanks in advance. I really like this smartphone, but I'm not sure about spending that amount of money in an almost 2 year old phone...
PS: I have been using a OnePlus 5T for the last three years and it's still performing well, but I was thinking about buying a new smartphone because the battery of my 5T is dying.

Nope, next will be the battery.
Put a case on it to hide the back and tempered glass to cover the front crack and good to go
I moved from a oneplus 3T to a 7T three months back and spent about as much you're paying for the repair of the phone. Maybe a little more than that but the jump was astounding. The screen, speakers, cameras all make it worth the upgrade. Although in your case I can see the cost is mostly for repairs than the phone itself. I would personally recommend you go for it and despite the behavior of oneplus not promising updates on time. The usability is far superior than any previous phone I've owned
There may be additional internal damage.
Always keep these phones in a good case...
I second @HueyT
Of the phone still works out a good cover on the back and a glass or sapphire screen protector on the front and use it until you can afford what you want or until it dies.
Thanks everyone for the replies! Finally, I think I'll repair only the screen. I can buy a back cover from aliexpress for 15€ and put it by myself, and then send it to OnePlus to have a "new" phone for 190€. Looking for other phones, I won't probably find another smartphone like the 7T for that price so...
I would like to buy a Note 10 plus. Thought about buy a new tmobile variant on ebay off a seller that has 2k sales but have read you may get screwed as they may get locked out if reported stolen. Would it be possible to buy the Unlock variant and flash tmobil firmware on it? Been looking at some threads, it looks like it's possible but I dont know enough to be 100% and maybe someone can tell me. Maybe I'll buy a Amazon Renewed one and flash it if possible otherwise my only other option would be to spend 700 on Ebay and hope it's not a return or some other open box form.
Don't understand your problem...you want an unused/new phone from ebay?
I bought recently 2 note 10+ from ebay and both arrived safely and are working fine. Both came with their box and are about 1 year old. The 1st one is a black one and has some light screen burn on the lower part of the display only visible when watching a light image or video. Except for that it has good battery life and is cosmetically in very good condition.
The 2nd one I bought very cheap, came with both the display and rear glass cracked but in good working order. I replaced the display including the frame and rear glass. The display came with a new OEM battery. Its now a converted aura glow into a white one. Except for its main board, camera's etc its a new phone.
I bought the new display for the first one but then decided that the screen burn was not enough to replace that good working screen, I hardly notice it so the idea came to buy a damaged one and repair that one...Have not decided which one I keep. Maybe the misses will give up her note 9 and take one of the note 10's.
When buying of ebay look at the pictures, ask for a invoice and see how the seller replies to your questions. I bought many phones, computer, watches etc, all high dollar items and have never been disappointed. If its to good to be true walk away, nobody will give you presents in this society!
