[Q] Need help, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T217S (Screen Unresponsive) - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had my Tab 3 for a little over 6 months now and have had no issues what-so-ever 'til now. My problem is with the screen just suddenly becoming unresponsive after locking it after use. I swiped my finger across the screen to unlock and got right back into my tablet like normal, but then once I tried to do open up applications from the Home Screen nothing happened. I tabbed lightly and swiped repeatedly trying to get a response.... nothing.
My screen LCD screen is flawless and is original, it has never been tampered with. There are no cracks or scratches or anything it just suddenly stopped working. So I figure it's a software issue, no big deal, right? Wrong. I did a soft reset by holding down the power button, it reboots and comes back to the home screen. Nothing. I figured wth I have nothing important on here, let me do a hard reset. Boot into recovery mode wipe the cache and tablet performing a hard reset. Tablet then reboots to the default setup screen to choose language. Nothing. I can't choose anything. I don't know what's wrong. Lastly, the battery was semi-low around 20% or so before this all happened. So I let it fully charge again hoping that'd help, but nothing. I'm at a loss of what to do next.
NOTE: This is all original and is stock everything. I've never modded this tablet or rooted it. I don't understand how the digitizer would just give out for no reason, it hasn't been dropped or anything.
Any other troubleshooting I can do? I've thought about installing the USB drivers and putting it into download mode to flash a custom rom or even the original to see if it'll work, but I don't want to do that unless necessary. If it is the digitizer are these hard to replace and costly?

well replace a screen digitizer require a basic set of skills on mobile repairing. However I found this on ebay (US) http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...en.TRS1&_nkw=T217S+screen&ghostText=&_sacat=0
but you can try to flash into latest firmware by samsung and try again

Boot loop problem

Ok, so this is not my phone that I'm trying to fix. Its a buddy of mine that has never rooted or messed with his phone. Apparently this just suddenly happened out of no where. He can get into a 3 button bootloader but it says "reboot" "reboot bootloader" and "power down". Again this isn't my phone and I'm not familiar with HTC at all. Please help lol

That's the fastboot screen, what happens when you press the reboot bootloader?

similiar problem
I'm having a similiar problem and have read many threads and apparently the problem i'm dealing with is a hardware issue...apparently... I just don' understand how a phone will only boot up to the home screen for a moment and then go through boot loops. When i go into hboot it will stay there and never crash and never bootloop, it will literally stay there until batt dies. It seems a software issue or something to me??? I've rooted it, tried divers roms, radios, etc. all to no avail, so, I then unrooted. I have charged it all the while off and while on. I have pulled the charger and plugged it back up without turning it on just to make it as fully charged as I can. I have let it bootloop until it shuts itself off. I have left it in hboot until the battery completely died and then turned it back on and repeated this until it would not start again. Nothing has worked, I've called HTC and Sprint but it's not under warranty and I am broke.
I am desperate for help....desperate. I have no money to replace it. I will take any suggestions and at this point try anything since it is not under warranty. If anyone is up for a challenge and project, PLEASE pm me. I've exhausted my knowledge, i've even prayed. Can anyone here offer any advice? I'm willing to pull this thing apart and examine the internals but I don't know what to look for, perhaps someone else does though.
From my experience you can do one of two things.
1. Hold volume down and power until the bootloader screen shows up. When in there use the volume buttons to go down 2 to where it was wipe data/factory reset. Hit the power button to select it and then volume up to confirm. Everything on the phone is lost, nothing on the memory card is touched. Then give it a couple minutes when it restarts and it should boot fine.
2. Take the phone apart, I have seen some that bootloop and its because the camera is loose. I know it sounds weird, but over time with phones being dropped or just the movement of being in a pocket can cause the camera to become knocked even a little loose. Simply push on the camera and you will feel it lock into place. Then put the back plate back on and turn it on and you're done.

[Q] Help - Glide crashes and restarts

I bought a Samsung Glide i927 phone last month in the US, i bought it unlocked as i am from argentine, and i wanted to use it with movistar.
Recently the phone started to crash a lot, by that i mean that the screen starts going white, with horizontal lines and pixels of different colors appearing, then just turn off or restarts itself, only to crash again as soon as it starts an then turns off.
When this happens i try to start the phone and select the shut down option myself to see if the next time it starts it doesnt crash. But sooner or later it happens again.
This problem its happening too often, and not while doing something in particular like running an app or something. Sometimes it crashes just by plugging it to the power adapter, it even shows the white screen with the lines instead of the charging battery image when i charge it while turned off. I have already try to fix it upgrading android or doing a factory reset, but that didnt work.
Anyone have any idea of how to resolve the problem, or if its a hardware malfunction that cant be fixed?
To make things more difficult, as i said earlier im from argentine, and i cant go to AT&T or Samsung to get it fixed or get a replacement. English is not my first language, so please forgive my orthographic mistakes.
Thanks
This really sounds like some hardware problem, but to be safe, learn how to use Odin and use it to revert your phone to completely stock condition (cleaner than factory reset).

I tried to do that, but the first times when Odin try to reboot the phone it just freezes and i have to unplug it. After many tries it finally finished, but the phone keeps freezing and crashing.
The phone even crashes while turned of and conected to the power adapter.
Do you think that with LiteROM 0.9.0, that might fix this issues?
I've got reboots too, try to disable auto brighness
It helps for me

Power button issue
I am having a similar problem. At first, it just happened on rare occasions. However, today, it started doing it repeatedly. The phone was unusable. I did some checking around, and it appears that the power buttons on Samsung phones are prone to sticking. Some people suggest you actually remove the battery and slam the power button against a table. I wasn't going to do that, because I could just see it doing even more damage. What I did instead was firmly tap the power button repeatedly. It seemed to unstick the power button and allow the phone to function again.
Another alternative is to have the power button replaced, but that might be a hassle.
First of all, sorry for my bad english.
I bought it on amazon a few days ago, I have the same problem...
I thing aznemesis is right, because my power buttom is very sensitive, in fact, some times, when I press the button smooth and fast, to turn off the display like, the typical menu appears as if I had pressed the button for much longer period. Which proves your theory. The problem is if I hit the button over a table and the button breaks here in Chile do not exist spares of the terminal
Well, I did. I couldn't stand the desire to do so. After nearly 18 hours, the terminal isn't rebooted again.

The horizontal lines on the screen sound as if it is an overheating issue. What were you doing before your phone shut off? Are you using the factory charger?
cure found
take the battery out...blow on the power button with some compressed gas to get the dust out....then pour a drop of silicone based lubricant on the power button so that most of it gets in the gaps...then hit the power button a few times....haven't had any reboots since then

[Q] SPH-L710 reboots in recovery Battery, power button issues possible

I have read the other posts regarding the rebooting issues of the Sprint Galaxy S3 variant, but I seem to have a touch more difficult problem. My phone constantly resets and seems to be getting worse. It now will reset in the middle of recovery. I was able to wipe the cache and dalvik and then it started resetting even more frequently in recovery and made reloading the rom impossible. It even resets in the download screen. So it makes it impossible to use Odin and other applications. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I have a few possible options that I am pondering. The following is what led up to this if you need some background:
A week ago, I noticed that my battery suddenly was not charging when wifi was on. I turned it off thinking it was some glitch and reset the phone and plugged it in to charge. It said it was at 100 % some hours later. then I turned it back on again and within a couple minutes, it said it was at 22%. So I hard reset and then plugged it into the wall, but it was still not charging. I had go somewhere,so I plugged it into the car charger and enabled fast charge. I turned on my data and all the sudden it rebooted, lost my wifi password, but when it came back on, it was charging properly. So I thought it was just some odd glitch. Charged properly for days.
Then I noticed the phone starting to randomly reset maybe once very other day when texting. I was actually going to put on a new rom tomorrow thinking maybe my old one had become corrupt. Then it suddenly increased drastically tonight to where it was starting to reset constantly. I thought maybe the button was stuck, and pulled off my otter case to make sure it wasnt being pressed down oddly, but it continued. Then I went into recovery and was able to wipe the cache and dalvik before it got really bad and now it won't even let me stay in recovery for any length of time. I almost got a rom loaded when it reset and its been resetting faster than ever. Becoming unresponsive to button presses as well. Even when I could get into the recovery, it would keep showing "swipe screen to open," as the power button was apparently continuing to activate or the phone was trying to reset itself. And yes, I have tried a battery pull several times and then tried to get into recovery, only to be booted out right as I see the recovery screen if I get there.
So that is my problem. I can't flash odin or anything else as the phone just keeps resetting. Part of me thinks to get a new battery and try to see if that doesn't solve my issue, as maybe the battery is causing the phone to reset? But part me is also thinking maybe the power button has gone sticky suddenly? It won't charge it seems as the red light will not come on and it keeps resetting before the battery charging icon can even come up. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I am leaning towards the battery going bad suddenly and shorting out the phone. I now have the battery, which last I saw was at 48% (It was charging when this happened), out of the phone and am waiting till morning to hopefully pick up a new battery. But I would appreciate any insights into this issue.
Thank you very much
Same issue
I'm having the same issue described above with the S3 constantly rebooting. I can get into download mode but it restarts a few seconds into the flash. I have tried a different battery but that did not solve the problem - I am also thinking it's a power button issue... any suggestions?

I just had my phone replaced for same reason ( Thank god for insurance) Download mode would last about 5 seconds, Recovery would do the same. I managed to get a stock restore with flash counter reset to boot as i was walking into the Sprint store for the techs to look at this lol.. Same exact thing happened on my S2. Power button is done. If you have INS call and get it replaced (Took me about a week for new phone)
I read some post on possibly using Samsung Kies to flash a new ROM, but that was for the international version. I would be curious if anyone has ever tried this or if its possible to replace the power button with a part replacement? I have ordered an S4 but this time I will make sure to use the home and left touch pad more often to unlock the phone and save wear on the power button. I wold still be interested f anyone has found a fix for this.

So after looking around, I am pretty convinced this the power button,as people describe on this question. If you don't have insurance, I see there are selling replacements or you can pay someone to replace and fix the power button fairly affordably on ebay. I might go the second route, as I want it fine right and the man had a 100 percent rating positive, and I dont really know what I am doing lol. Thanks everyone for your answers.

[Q] Has my Samsung GS2X become bricked?

Started acting up last week when I noticed it restarted on it's own, but didn't fire back up right away. Instead it went into a reboot cycle for almost an hour (doesn't make it passed the Samsung splash screen). Then it just fixed itself and I was able to access everything as normal.
Once it was going again, I backed up all my info and did a factory reset and proceeded to re-load Jellybean (4.0.2?). Although Kies said I was already up-to-date and didn't do anything.
Anyway, worked fine for a week until yesterday when it went into the continuous reboot cycle, and never fully turned on again.
I have pictures and vids I would like to somehow recover (on phone and not on SD card), but I have no idea how to get the phone to start up. I have removed my SIM and memory card to see if that did anything. Also have done numerous hard resets (pull the battery and lock + vol down combo). It basically just kills the battery as it cycle reboots. Every few minutes, it will fire up again but still doesn't make it past the Samsung splash page. And when the phone is charging, it just doesn't turn on in general and just intermittently vibrates to try to start-up.
Dunno how I would even be able to flash the ROM (newb at this) since the phone doesn't stay on long enough to access the BIOS of the phone. Does this seem like a software or hardware issue? I bought this phone 2nd hand off Craigs about 2 years ago, so no idea if it was a refurb.
Has anyone experienced this and can direct me to somewhere so I can fix it? Or is it a goner and I should just move on to another phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Its likely a stuck power button. Search here or Google for treatments.

it sounds like a problem I had once
Galaxy S2 Wont boot anymore
one option was to disassemble teh phone and check the power button , someone recommended I use an eraser to tap the power button and see if that would unlodge it and to my relief that worked. You might want to try that first

[q] screen is glitchy after dropping!

Two days ago, my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 dropped out of my coat pocket as i was running for the bus. I picked it up and saw the screen was cracked along the top left and bottom left hand side. Everything was working for the past two days and i figured i'll just wait till Christmas to get a new phone. This morning i took my phone off the charger and turned it on. The Samsung logo flashed, and then the boot animation for Slimrom (the custom rom i'm currently running on) flashed for about a second but then the screen went black. I did a battery pull but the weird thing is whenever i put my battery back in, even without touching the power button, it boots up by itself but then the screen goes black again. I can access TWRP and download mode but they both go black after a few seconds as well. I was able to successfully turn on my phone and have it fully function for about 15 minutes after putting it back on the charger, but it quickly blacked out again. It also keeps randomly booting up by itself which is weird. Im guessing this is a problem with the screen itself, but could it be a software issue because the device keeps booting up by itself? If it is the screen, will i have to buy a new one or is it not worth it? I've also tried using a different battery and i have the same issue so it can't be that. Any help is appreciated!
Sounds like an issue with the power button, it probably got stuck somehow either when you dropped it, or after you dropped it. Do a simple search for power button and you will find ways to fix it!
Holy crap i didn't even think of that! It makes total sense since every time i even tap my power button, even for just a second, it turns on. I've read around that clearing the cache or a factory reset could work. Is this true?
Unlikely, unless it's a software issue but it's always a possibility. Slam the phone against something to try to get the power button back into place, or open it up and try to see if you can fix it yourself, or replace it
The problem seems to be gone. I haven't had any issues for two days now. All i did was press the power button really hard multiple times. Thanks for you help man!
