Poor call signal reception! - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had this phone for a few months and it's been working great, except for the last few days. No matter where I am, I have very poor call signal (1 bar). Turning on/off mobile data doesn't seem to effect anything. I can call using wi-fi calling, but of course I need a wi-fi signal in order to do so. Usually if I call someone the call drops instantly or within 10 seconds. Any ideas?

Question about calls going to voicemail when not using phone.

Something weird happens. I am connected to wifi calling all the time when I am home because I get zero bars here. For some reason though, whenever I dont touch the phone for a lil while, whenever someone calls it goes straight to voicemail. Does not even ring. Almost as if there is no signal, which of course there is. I also randomly call my cell from phones here to see if it happens and they get through fine. Like I said, its only when I have not touched the phone for a while.
I am completely stock.
I have the wifi sleep policy on NEVER and the wifi calling settings on wifi preferred.
Any ideas what can cause this?
Also, cell standby says the entire time I have been on battery, I have almost 100 percent non signal. That happened with my amaze also but it never made me miss calls because it was always on wifi calling.
Any idea of what can be causing this, or what I can do to stop it. Using GB btw, not ICS

Stock GB?
Yup.. Stock Gb

Signal is one or zero bars until I call

So I've been using cleanrom with no issues until today. I tried to switch to liquid smooth. It only got one or no bars until I made a call, then had 3 or 4. Then went back after 10 or so seconds. Now I tried paranoid android 3.0. Same issue. Tried different modems. APN is identical to stock att.
Any ideas?
Edit: ugh. When I disconnect from wifi it stays at 1 bar until I call, but if I call with wifi off, then disconnect the call and use data, the signal strength stays at max for a few minutes. But if I turn on wifi it goes back to one or zero. Wtf
More edit: I'm thinking an apn setting is messed up somewhere or something. I can see now that when I'm on h+ or 3g I can have full bars, no problem, but as soon as it switches to lte it drops to one or no bars
Edit tres: when I do have a 1 bar 4G signal it is excellent, almost as fast as wifi.

Phone loses GPS signal when receiving incoming calls

Well damn... seems like I discovered a new issue on my phone...
I was using google maps these days while driving, everything right, GPS locked and working. But then I received a call and immediately lost the GPS signal, It just came back just after I finished the call.
I confirmed the issue when It happened a second time another day.
Can someone confirm this is happening for everyone?
I'm currently using Global MIUI 10.3.3, stock kernel.
GPS Signal dropping out when call received
I had this problem with waze using redmi 8. Fixed it by going to settings, battery and performance. Battery saver choose apps. Scroll down to Waze and turn battery saver off.

GPS turns off when not moving for several minutes

I recently bought a Mate 20 (not Pro, Lite, or X), mainly because of the dual GPS feature. But now I have noticed, and reproduced, that when tracking my activity, the phone will the GPS signal when I don't move for several minutes (in the first instance it was about 5 minutes, the second time 26 minutes before the signal was lost).
The GPS signal will not come back after this, even when moving again, except for very short timespans (5-10 seconds, twice over several hours).
This behavior does not occur if not moving at all: You have to move, then stop moving for several minutes, and then GPS signal is lost.
The GPS signal was not blocked by anything, I was on the outside. I also did disable all power-saving features, but the problem does not seem to be connected to any particular tracking app: I was running 4 apps simultaneously, and neither was able to record a position after not moving).
So it seems like the firmware turns off GPS reception once it determines that the phone isn't moving anymore - without any notification, and while GPS is still turned on in the settings (and it stays on in the settings even though the firmware blocks actual GPS reception.
Is there any way to stop this behavior, so that GPS will always try to receive a signal even if I don't move for hours?

Question Poco F3 mobile data and wifi drop randomly

Hi, I have a brand new Poco F3 6GB/128GB running on MIUI 12.5.6.0 Global Stable, and sometimes wifi and/or mobile data drop randomly.
I was just walking home about 30 minutes ago while playing Clash Royale on mobile data, had full signal bar and was on 4G+, then suddenly it lost internet access, 4G+ symbol disappeared, but the full bar of signal still remained for a few seconds before going out of signal, and then suddenly I have full signal bar and 4G+ again. Loss of connectivity lasted for about 15 to 20 seconds.
This happened in a place where I always had 100% coverage, full bar of signal and 4G+ on any phone.
I am using only SIM1, the second slot is not being used.
It has also happened twice on wifi, and on both occasions I was also playing Clash Royale while laying on my bed, then suddenly wifi drops and takes about 5 to 10 seconds to reconnect. I usually get 'Good' signal strength in bed, sometimes at 260Mbps and sometimes at 585Mbps, every other phone I had could maintain a wifi connection to my AP from bed.
Is anyone else having random connectivity drops?

(Same issues)
and unfortunately no fix from xiaomi..
I will be able to unlock the bootloader in about 24 hours, if the .eu ROM does not fix this issue I will return the phone on Monday.

I have a bug ticket submitted to Xiaomi, it's just a matter of time (hopefully) till they provide the modem crash fix! Can you force your mobile to 3g, and see if you can reproduce? I bet you can't..just to confirm that we're having the same issue.

Haha I'm currently very curious whether Xiaomi did such "kernel hack" as well, which just resets the modem rather than forcing the whole system to reboot.
I'm currently on LineageOS with custom kernel, which implements such "kernel hack". To me at least random connection loss is much less bad than random sudden system reboots.

I'm curious what your dmesg will look like, although I'm not a dev myself.

Although I'm also a victim of random modem crashes (and initially it's not only modem crashing, it's the whole system was forced to reboot, until I found the "kernel hack"), honestly I'm not sure whether all these "random signal drop" "random reboots" issues share one common root cause at all. I have no idea it's a software issue (no matter it's kernel driver, firmware, or even some userspace stuff) or a hardware one either.
Besides, wifi and cellular belong to different subsystems, if I'm not mistaken? To be honest I haven't noticed system reboot triggerred by reasons other than "esoc0" (which should be cellular, not wifi?) myself.
I'm using Poco F3 on T-Mobile here in the valley in Southern California. I manually enabled VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. I have my SIM card in slot 1. I'm on MIUI Global 13.0.2 Stable. Everything is working great, but when I drive to certain low signal areas, the phone switches to 4G and will not switch back to showing VoLTE 5G in the status bar even when I'm back to a great signal area. I have to use airplane mode, or toggle VoLTE setting off and back on to get it to switch back to 5G with VoLTE working again. Any idea if there's a way to permanently fix this issue? I don't know why it switches to 4G and never switches back! Is this possibly related to the modem crashing bug discussed on this thread? I love the phone but this bug is very irritating!
Hello. Im having the same issue. Were you able to fix the issue?
